the only audio cut off i've come across is on grunt's loyalty mission. when the keystone hits with the loud bang it kills all sound. at first i though shep just went temporarily deaf from the loud noise, but nope. it doesnt go away by itself.

reloading the previous save does fix it though so not a big issue for me

Since the update, some conversation is missing [subtitles do work], (recruit Jack, shot gun on dead guard), another that was REALLY BAD was ALL Grunt's Loyality fight with Uveck (fortunately I had subtitles ON), and various places some verbal dialog but NO subtitles (rare).
Final battle with human reaper, reaper destroyed, (screen goes black), reaper falls, sound mutes to almost nothing, then comes back with Joker "Commander ..."
Being hard of hearing, I have voice @ 100%, music @ 20%, effects @ 40%, but there are LOTS of times that the voice dialog is totally drown out. (Worse in ME1 especially in evelators).

I recently bought a HDTV so I decided to test it out I started playing the game and when I got to that point the audio was there now this is strange because when I had it on my SDTV the audio ALWAYS cuts out.

I have an HDTV and the dialogue still cuts out. The odd thing is that I've managed to get the dialogue in rare cases. It worked fine on my very first playthrough. My next game after that was a new game without a ME1 import and I had all sorts of issues from the dialogue cutting out during the confrontation with Morinth, to the updates for Thane's mission not being recognized, to the end of Jack's mission cutting off suddenly. I've had imported games every time since then, and the only issue that has remained is the one with Morinth. And again, I manged to get the sound to work once for whatever reason.

I just want to note that when I play the game without being installed to the 360 hard drive, the audio never had any problems, but playing it installed to the hard drive causes the audio on conversation lines to cut out sometimes for a single line.

Just posting to note that I just experienced this problem for the first time

I was doing Grunt's loyalty mission and the sound cut out at the exact moment that the keystone struck the ground for the first time. I believe I had been playing around 3-4 hours at the time. I thought at first that the rather loud sound the keystone makes had blown out my speakers, but that wasn't the case. Then I worried that a hardware failure had just suddenly happened in my Xbox, but after finishing the mission, I exited the game and watched a video and the sound was fine. As I was on a mission, I wasn't able to save so I have no idea if it would have occured again.

My main gripe with the Samara/Morinth fight is not so much that the audio cuts out at "I am the genetic destiny of the Asari" (As I had already heard the audio anyway in my first playthrough) but that I'm not even given the CHOICE between killing Samara or Morinth, Morinth always automatically cacks it. This really pisses me off as I am playing a renegade this playthrough and was planning to recruit Morinth.

Guys, having this problem myself and wondering where the solving it was at, I decided to pm Don. He said that they are still looking into it and trying to solve it, and that he will look at possibly providing an update on this thread.

I'll post my answers to the questions now, just never found the time before, which is probably a good thing, because I found something interesting. Probably uselss, but interesting. I'll put this at the bottom. I've played this bit 3 times, and i'll post my answers for each one with a) B) c). Each one was with the paragon choices before the confrontation. I take it question 3 means what mission did you do before.

1. a) Illium hub B) Normandy CIC c) Normandy CIC.

2. a) between 4-8 hours B) went straight to omega c) 2-4 hours

3. a) Loyalty mission, don't remember which, then straight there B) Nothing except that since play start c) Miranda's loyalty mission, then some bits on the Illium hub, then a tour of the Normandy

4. a,b,c)Yes, whether it's from a save in Morinth's apartment, in afterlife v.i.p area, after, during, or before the apartment investigation, or after arrival on omega before talking to aria (yes, I like to be thorough :))

5. a,b,c) I've never tried it, but if I do i'll let you know at all volume levels.

The interesting thing that I found is that even though the audio cut out normally happens exactly the same each time, including when i did all those save tests the first time, on my most recent try, the audio came back noticably earlier (but still after I made the choice to kill Morinth). This is probably just a fluke, like pacifen's 80% volume that only worked once, and some fluke playthroughs for people with the audio, but I thought I may as well mention it.

I dont like it how voices fade when you move away from the squad mate while playing through a level. Subtitles help but it just seems like they should still be heard clearly.

For what it's worth I just played the samara/morinth section again and knowing that it usually cuts out, I disabled sound effects and music volume and that allowed me to hear what she was saying.

I had been playing for probably 2hours max beforehand.

I'll try to make this as clear as possible (it's very late here).

This scene (Samara vs Morinth) played fine on my first playthrough. I didn't know there was such an issue at the time, so I can't recall any specifics, only that I'd remember if it glitched, so obviously it didn't.

On all subsequent playthroughs, it glitched (audio cut-out and come back at very precise points). I tried many "fixes" to no avail.

Then, last night, I deleted disc 2 (already tried this if I remember correctly), reinstalled disc 2, and played the scene using disc 1 (disc one was already installed). And it went fine. I did not backup my save so I can't test it thoroughly. Maybe it was just randomly working. But I don't think so (I retried so many times rebooting xbox and all and it never worked).

So there it is. It seems this "disc 2" mission can be played on disc 1 (I think there may be many missions that are on both discs actually). And it seems this scene does not glitch while being played on disc 1. Maybe the first time I played it, I was using disc 1 for whatever reason.

Both discs are installed on 120gb HD. Audio outputs via digital (optical) stereo. All audio settings are nominal (100%). French version of the game on a PAL console.

This will never be fixed... seems a plague that hits many games. Never had it wit DAO tho, didn't have it on my xbox360 ME2, didn't have it on my first playthrough on the pc either, but after that, all the conversations get f----d up, maybe it was the dlc? should try and uninstall everything, and then test each dlc apart, might take some time.

Anybody who has the big dlc pieces could help me out, try uninstalling yours and report here.

 1. In which level / area of the game did you begin the play session when you encountered this problem?
In Lair of the Shadow Broker, on Illium, just when it's time to pursue Vasir in a skycar. When pressing the START button to bring up the menu, the music/sound works fine. But when accelerating and steering the skycar, the audio cuts out.

2. How long had you been playing before this bug happened?
One hour.

3. What were you doing prior to when this bug happened?
Following the story, clearing enemies in the Eldfell-Ashland Energy office. I then had to choose a particular squad member to join me in the car.

4. If you load a saved game right before this cut-scene, does the problem still occur?
Yes.

5. If you adjust your turn the music, sound effects, and dialogue settings down to about 80% does the problem still occur?
Yes.

The one thing I did notice, don't have the other specifics in any certainty, was my first playthrough the bug did not happen. 2nd, 3rd, 4th playthroughs the sound cut out.

This.

I had been playing for a couple hours.

On the times that it worked, I had not yet downloaded the Cerebus DLCs.

I had gone to Omega to do the last loyalty missions there and the Patriarch but I hadn't done the Patriarch yet.

Still had Legion to get.

Dialogue cut out for most of the confrontation scene.

Was playing from disc and not from hard drive.

I didn't have this probelm on my first playthrough, although that was with a non-imported Shepard since I had lost all my games due to my previous 360 crapping out.

I did notice though that on my first playthrough I wasn't given a choice to either Kill Samara or Mornith the game just went ahead and Morinith died. (not that I mind I don't pick M anyway)

But I've noticed that even since that first playthrough I've had audio cuts and not just in this one situation - recently it happened in LotSB and also my squadmates comments cut out now too. I think I noticed this when the second (?) patch - the one that fixed the flashing ammo cartridges (which didn't actually fix it for me). Also, if I use the extra ammo armor - the arm sheaths and leg amor for heavy ammo - the game doesn't actually realize it and I only have the base ammo. Sometimes if I reload it works but most of the time it doesn't work.

Also the save/reload trick for Samara/Morinith confrontation doesn't work at all. No matter what I do.

And, during LotSB I get the sound of the skycar engine overpowering the dialogue during the car chase. I also have problems with my FemShep using the MaleShep voice - when giving orders or changing weapons and whenever she is hit it's the MaleShep voice not Jenifer Hale. At least in the cutscenes it's Hale's voice, so far.

I noticed the exact same thing.  I decided I'd rather have it run off the HDD anyway (better for the 360 imo), but it might be more an issue with the 360s image-reading software than something Bioware can do.

Of course, if people are running the game off the disc and still getting audio problems, this isn't the case.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have had the problem of audio cutting off during the Morinth/Samara confrontation. However when I played through after installing the new Xbox live upgrade, it works fine, no cut out at all. I have an old Xbox 360 pro with a 250GB hard drive. Has anyone else who has the problem tried recently?

I usually have dialogue cutting at at the exact same spots. After speaking with Mordin for the first time on omega and Jack only saying Sim instead of simple.

1. Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC - In the skycar sequence (only).

2. I had been playing for at least 20-30 minutes before this sequence occurred.

3. I was descending the Dracon Trade Center to the bottom and when I exited the building I had found Liara and Vasir fighting it out. Vasir followed up with summoning her skycar and jumping over the edge into it. The skycar chase sequence began shortly after.

4. This wasn't a cutscene, it was gameplay. Although I did not try to reload it, I had deleted the content and downloaded it again to see if it was fixed. Answer: I don't know.

5. I did not have to do that or try to do it. Answer: No

I also found that if I had pressed start during an audio cut-out it would wait 1.5 seconds to play the sound.

It usually cuts out for me.

My latest play through, I decided not to explore the stuff in her apartment ("click" on the various things in her apartment). Instead I went straight to her, and started the conversation.

No sound cut out this time.
