It seems really clear that a lot of folks here are struggling with expectations vs. reality when it comes to the Awakenings expansion. Here are a few tips:

1) Prepare your Character in Origins before you import them into Awakenings: Your Character Stats, Powers & Skills, and your Inventory & Gold all port straight over. EXCEPT DLC ITEMS that were from The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, & the Blood Dragon Armor. Return to Ostagar items WILL carry over. I suggest selling everything you don't want/ can't take BEFORE you import. (Yes, I know it seems crazy to sell StarFang, the Warden Commander & Blood Dragon Armors. You can't take them with you so you might as well cash them in for the gold.)

2) Select "New Game" from your Origins title screen and then you can choose to import your saved character or start as a custom created level 18 Orlesian Warden. I downloaded Awakenings, I freaked when I couldn't find where to launch the game (no XMB icon). Boot up the original Origins disc and use the menu commands to either start Awakenings as a "New Game", or Load/ Resume.

3) Don't Expect Custom Continuity: They never promised it, so not sure why everyone is so surprised that ALL their decisions in Origins don't really matter in Awakenings. For example, my Ultimate Sacrifice Warden shares some tender words with Anora, as if he were her King. I wish I could let her know that I appreciate the kind words she shared at my funeral, but no matter. If you really have a problem with the lack of custom continuity, I suggest playing as the Orleasian Warden and spend some time digging up & citing the promises you think BIoWare made you about carrying over every last detail (okay, most details) of your Origins play- through.

4) Raise the Difficulty Level: If you are a crawler, or a stat-hound, your imported Warden is going to be very powerful. Do yourself a favor and up the difficulty. You can always take it back down a notch if you need to.

5) Know that this is an Expansion, and its not for Everybody: I would suggest if you spent less than 60-70 hours on Origins, that this is not what you are looking for. Depth, not breadth is what my opinion is so far. If you like crafting, itemizing, customizing, and crawling I'd say this is right up your alley and you will get value out of this expansion. I think this was a very risky release on the part of BioWare, not everyone is going to value it. Those that appreciated the form and function of Origins will appreciate the added content and abundance of "tinkering" with everything from your armor (you can add runes to it), to runes, to the very composition of your character skills (you can, at any time, for 6 gold re-spec any character).

I would suggest if you have issue with the price to just wait and it will inevitably come down to a point you will feel comfortable with. If you need more Dragon Age right now, go for it!

Platinum Trophy for Origins. Purchased all DLC. Origin Play-throughs averaged 80 hrs. Normal Difficulty.

I think that's a pretty fair review. I bought it to see where the story goes next, and I'm not disappointed, but I came into the game with very few expectations.

This expansion is lacking a few things that Origins had - you don't get the same chances to forge lasting bonds with your party members, for instance. But I can RP that as part of being Warden Commander, and I'm okay with that. Others won't be.

I don't regret having gotten this expansion at full price, but there will be those that will want to wait.

I agree with your review. My only gripes are with the bugs.

Bugs are on par with my Origins experience.

It appears graphics have improved as well as the framerate smoothing slightly.

I am loving the expansion. no framerate issues or major bugs, just like origins.
