First of all, I would like to thank BioWare for making another DLC for one of my favourite games of all time.
Love the free DLCs, but I would even pay a little if they were a little more polished and had more gameplay value in them. (Zaeeds DLC was awsomeness, even though it was kind of short.)
Now for the review
The pros:
-The idea of the vehicle is awsome, would like some more action in that thingy in the future.
-Platform jumping was a great addition to the gameplay (Don't make it a part of the main game though! =D)
-The way the five missions unfolded was refreshing compared to general gameplay.
-A replacement for mineral scanning as a resource gathering in a form of a repeatable minigame in the future, perhaps? Scanning planets on your 5th playthrough is just so mind numbing (as they were on the 2nd already.)
-Going further with Prothean mythology is always very interesting and exciting so pretty please, more of that. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on some practical-use Prothean weaponry or stuff like that
The cons:
-The "fights" with Hammerhead were a joke, even on insanity difficulty you can easily get through all the missions without getting hit once.. and that adds up to a kind of boring experience 'cause of the lack of any challenge at all.
-Umm... Wheres the healthbar?
-No auto- or quick saves during the missions, ended up blasted in the end of a mission and had to start all over resulting for more (kind of boring) rocket spamming.
-The enemies won't attack you if you fire from distance, err..
-Fast and cunning enemies that you would actually have to dodge and aim for would be a great upgrade.
-The plot of the missions hardly scratched the surface, going deeper in the things behind happenings always makes the game feel much more deeper.
Finally: The DLC was fun while it lasted (about 20 mins :
Suggestions for future DLC / Patches / ME3:
-Some endgame material, stuff you could repeat and it would challenge you every time, especially after you have beaten the game, would be awsome. A training room / simulation inside Normandy where you could test out abilities and powers in action and see statistics on what they do to different kinds of targets in given situations and a station to change your squad members armors and reset squad points at would be things I'd skip a heart beat for.
-"We need guns, lots of guns" Neo said it already in The Matrix. We need more weapons, not just heavy weapons. I liked the weapon and armor system Mass Effect 1 had going on. That but a bit more polished and honed. It's nice to be able to choose between weapons according to your own liking and not just notice that you only got two kinds of assault rifles and the later one is just pure upgrade to the first one.
-I really liked the thing you did with the collector ship and being able to choose an extra weapon training, I'd like to see some more of that. Can't say that I wasn't crushed when I noticed that I weren't able to get the third assault rifle for my Sentinel on my second playthrough, shouldn't hard work pay off?
-Now that we are talking about guns, let's not forget the rest of the equipment. I'd like to see lots of more armor pieces and mods you could swap depending on the mission and what you are up against. Getting new pieces of equipment for completing missions, helping out people, for achievements etc. should be a great and fun way of giving the game some more dimension.
-Please make it count in ME3 that you have all the achievements completed in ME2.
-More places to see in the cities please, Illium, Omega and Citadel were all quite small and there were nothing to do in after you completed the game or some missions. (Minigames!)
-And for the biggie: Multiplayer! I can't tell you how perfect it would be if you were able to co-op the Mass Effect universe with a friend through LAN or over Internet. I wouldn't be mad if there would be a MMORPG version of Mass Effect coming up some day.
