I actually liked the Hammerhead itself. It was fun to play with and very surprisingly, handled like a dream. Most vehicles tend to feel clunky. The worlds you visit with it are quite beautiful as well.

However, I prefer story related missions and content. The Prothean artifact was nice, but nothing much came from it.

One complaint. Why doesn't it have 2 modes of fire, similar to the Mako? A machine gun primary/secondary firing mode? I miss the 1-2 punch.

Still, I wouldn't mind seeing more of it.

Just a thought: Since the key bindings have no option for exiting the vehicle, I don't expect possible future DLC missions to allow it. Maybe a patch could add it.

My 2ct: a little tweaking of the good old Mako would have saved BioWare a lot of work and trouble. The Hammerhead looks cool, but gameplay-wise it's a fail mostly :-(

- why is the vehicle shaking like crazy when scanning an area?

- why does it have no 'health'-bar and is destroyed so quickly?

- why no quick-save?

- why no machine gun?

- why are the missiles less guided than the grenade launcher?

- why don't the Geth shoot at me as soon as I can shoot at them?

- OK, no simultanious jump and boost is understandable, but it would have made the maneuverability even cooler

The Good...

It looks like an awesome flying Mako.

The controls.

The Bad...

No integration into the main story line. It would have been so easy to add it into areas such as the trip to the Keystone on Tuchanka.

Another mission from TIM using the cop-out email delivery system.  I told him to F-off, why is he still sending me info?

The mission to actually get it, how ****** poor was that?  How much extra effort would it have been to make it actually fun and interesting?

The voice for the VI, I mean really, was it necessary to have it state the friggin obvious, all the bloody time?

The oh i've started, oh i've finished, linear corridor shoot-fest missions.

The holographic indicator columns of light.  I mean, really? Who's stupid enough to not be able to find a bloody big yellow target on the ground, when you can only go one way down a linear corridor?

You can't get out of it during the mission.  Seriously, who thought that it was a good idea to not let us get out?  It could have added so much depth to the missions getting out and actually doing things, instead of hovering over a stupid bullseye.

No Mako style sniper canon with zoom.

No health bar.  How the hell do I know how damaged it is?

It really, is as i've previously stated...  A half arsed job, that is only free and is only there so that Bioware doesn't have to include the code for it with every paid for DLC that uses it.

Bioware really do seem to have sold themselves to the devil lately.  Everything released in the last 6 months has been unimaginative, poorly executed, lets take the easy route, no thought behind it, cop-out crap.

This is one of the player reviews that I can somewhat agree with.
I made a post with a list but it wasn't elaborate and I dont want to quote myself

You notice that Tj? I sent a msg to Chris Priestly, if he wants to send it on or not i said what i needed to say... Anyways, did you think about what I said in that quote you took?
Hint: Ppl who make games don't work harder for ingrates... However, proper positive/negative feed back does. My tone was purely to reflect you tone back to you. and as you still are upset at How I said what I said, I figured you get the big picture....

My opinion? since you wanted to was exactly this...
The Firewalker Pack? It was fun but I think they made a device they'll need to continue to support, and if they do they'll need to fix the glitches. But it was fun.

So, I'll end this discord w/ you.

The Hammerhead itself was an improvement though I did miss the machine gun. Personally I can't see any of the armed forces in the ME universe not putting a machine gun on a vehicle like the Hammerhead.

Unfortunately that was pretty much the only good thing about this DLC. I mean, hell, we got no new dialogue except for maybe a few lines form the Hammerhead AI and what I am certain was a cut & paste of dialogue from one of your teammates (I only got Miranda to say anything but that never exceeded 2-3 words I think) as you completed objectives throughout the missions.

I'm not gonna pretend to know the in's and out's of this business but I'm confident that the vast majority of Mass Effect fans want some damn story with their new content! As in dialogue, character interactions, more Tim, etc. Did Bioware not learn anything from Zaeed? (you better actually talk to me one day you ugly bastard) Anywho, I'm done rantin'. If it makes sense then all the better, if not then bleh.

PS: *SPOILER* The relic in Shepard's cabin was a cute touch and I do enjoy clickin' on it but shouldn't a couple thousand year old Prothean artifact be in the hands of scientists and not on a coffee table? I know Shepard's a badass but that relic could contain useful info. Just throwin' that out there...

I agree with Orkboy's comments as well.

The whole "story" behind the tank is just plain stupid.

The missions are too linear, couldn't we combine some ground action with the tank?

Controls are OK.

No health bar or shield bar. You only get a siren like thing and the next second you're blowing up.

Overall I'd give the thing 6/10. I had more fun on my 2nd playthrough with the new costumes...

First of all, I would like to thank BioWare for making another DLC for one of my favourite games of all time.
Love the free DLCs, but I would even pay a little if they were a little more polished and had more gameplay value in them. (Zaeeds DLC was awsomeness, even though it was kind of short.)

Now for the review

The pros:
-The idea of the vehicle is awsome, would like some more action in that thingy in the future.
-Platform jumping was a great addition to the gameplay (Don't make it a part of the main game though! =D)
-The way the five missions unfolded was refreshing compared to general gameplay.
-A replacement for mineral scanning as a resource gathering in a form of a repeatable minigame in the future, perhaps? Scanning planets on your 5th playthrough is just so mind numbing (as they were on the 2nd already.)
-Going further with Prothean mythology is always very interesting and exciting so pretty please, more of that. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on some practical-use Prothean weaponry or stuff like that ;)

The cons:
-The "fights" with Hammerhead were a joke, even on insanity difficulty you can easily get through all the missions without getting hit once.. and that adds up to a kind of boring experience 'cause of the lack of any challenge at all.
-Umm... Wheres the healthbar?
-No auto- or quick saves during the missions, ended up blasted in the end of a mission and had to start all over resulting for more (kind of boring) rocket spamming.
-The enemies won't attack you if you fire from distance, err..
-Fast and cunning enemies that you would actually have to dodge and aim for would be a great upgrade.
-The plot of the missions hardly scratched the surface, going deeper in the things behind happenings always makes the game feel much more deeper.

Finally: The DLC was fun while it lasted (about 20 mins :

Suggestions for future DLC / Patches / ME3:

-Some endgame material, stuff you could repeat and it would challenge you every time, especially after you have beaten the game, would be awsome. A training room / simulation inside Normandy where you could test out abilities and powers in action and see statistics on what they do to different kinds of targets in given situations and a station to change your squad members armors and reset squad points at would be things I'd skip a heart beat for.
-"We need guns, lots of guns" Neo said it already in The Matrix. We need more weapons, not just heavy weapons. I liked the weapon and armor system Mass Effect 1 had going on. That but a bit more polished and honed. It's nice to be able to choose between weapons according to your own liking and not just notice that you only got two kinds of assault rifles and the later one is just pure upgrade to the first one.
-I really liked the thing you did with the collector ship and being able to choose an extra weapon training, I'd like to see some more of that. Can't say that I wasn't crushed when I noticed that I weren't able to get the third assault rifle for my Sentinel on my second playthrough, shouldn't hard work pay off?
-Now that we are talking about guns, let's not forget the rest of the equipment. I'd like to see lots of more armor pieces and mods you could swap depending on the mission and what you are up against. Getting new pieces of equipment for completing missions, helping out people, for achievements etc. should be a great and fun way of giving the game some more dimension.
-Please make it count in ME3 that you have all the achievements completed in ME2.
-More places to see in the cities please, Illium, Omega and Citadel were all quite small and there were nothing to do in after you completed the game or some missions. (Minigames!)
-And for the biggie: Multiplayer! I can't tell you how perfect it would be if you were able to co-op the Mass Effect universe with a friend through LAN or over Internet. I wouldn't be mad if there would be a MMORPG version of Mass Effect coming up some day.

Well I personally liked the dlc, yeah sure the levels were comparatively small but there were like 5 missions, which for a free dlc is kinda big? Loved the controls on the modified mako had fun zooming around and jumping n such, actually, i kinda liked the fact that we didnt have "mako" missions in ME2 though ofc some would have been nice. Noticed that there were no options to save game in between, but i guess since the levels were already short that we didn't need saves to make them easier. Gotta give credit to em that the missions were not similar.

Though I don't get why people wanted to go out and shoot n stuff, i mean this dlc is only about the "Hammerhead" vehicle right? Didn't we get enough shoot'em up missions in the rest of the game? Why not just say that we need more missions instead of beating up on this dlc.

About the gun thing, sure I missed the machine gun at start, but then i noticed that the cannon didn't have any overheating bar and it fired fast enough, not to mention it also shot out homing rockets.....

Though a end mission "boss fight" would have been fun, i mean it didn't really feel like we did anything significant, atleast not something which required the full attention of commander shepard whos kicked geth n reaper ass.

Think I read someone complaining that missions were linear,,,,,idk aren't almost all missions liner in ME2 as far as the pathways are concerened? Though yeah, the blue/red "its here!" lights were kinda stupid, woulda been more of a challenge if the players were left to find those on their own.

I just wanted to thank to all people involved in creating this DLC for all of us.

Mass Effect is the biggest thing in gaming in my opinion. I have just one small thing to add which I didn't liked and maybe somebody share the same opinion?

The Hammerhead seems so SMALL and TINY when You are hovering with it. I mean just compare the camera view on foot and while in vehicle. Does anybody think this is not appropriate? I really see this as a big disappointment, maybe the solution would be to add one more camera angle, which would be closer and it would seem that the vehicle is bigger and powerful as it should be. And one more thing if somebody is reading this from Bioware. Just look at the Halo and how great is implementation of vehicles in their games..

With the best respect to all people involved in creating history with this game.

I won't repeat everything that has already been mentioned here about the "quality" of this DLC, but I'll just mention this:

This DLC trend need to stop. Or else we will get more and more of this kind of lame content that could destroy the reputation of great games (horse armor anyone?)

With all respect due to Bioware (sorry guys, I understand that EA wants you to produce more and more small and useless content like this): thank god that this firewalker dlc was free...

hi,
mabe someone here can help me. i just started to download the firewalker dlc pack and the download stopped at 8%. i am now trying to download it again but i cannot get to the download page. neither from the game nor through the bioware homepage (it's really confusing). the cerberus network page only shows screenshots and no links and the dlc page only shows the appearance pack...

would be nice if someone could give me the link or tell me what i'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance!

[edit] finally found it. i clicked on "new content" in the game menu and then on the Mass Effect 2 Logo. Not a very clear or logical way to find the dlc... still looking forward to it!

What zooming? The controls does not work for me (PC version). I can't start, bcs I can't collect any data - PPM not working, and enything else not working too... It's frusrtrating and ...

Is there a zoom for the cannon? Like MAKO? - that was the best part of MAKO, I miss it a lot... :(, or maybe I just can't trriger it?

Could someone help and list the commands? Great thanks in advance.

The controls are in the controls section of your in-game options.

Like in patch 1.01 said, "It is recommended that players reset their keyboard mapping to default values to ensure proper vehicle control."

After I did that, everything worked as it should.

That would be hard to reset controls, after I played the game 4 times on controls realted to ME1. Isn't it stupid? I will die very soon :) Still I did not changed anything in Hammer controls...

I'll try to reset, no other way.

Thank you :)

I know the dlc takes a while to make and finish before going live. I would have to say that the new character dlc is good as well as the armour and weapons so far. The hammer head dlc was something that I was looking forward to since I first heard about it, but I am very disappointed that you did such a poor job on it, there were no real hard tasks in it, and as for the ending I what a waste of time. As for the hammerhead itself that was good to handle and generally easy to use but you need to some more harder missions then drive up and down a few cliff tops. I hope that the dlc for the 6th of april is a bit better then the hammerhead.

It starts working after reset. That the good news. The bad one - I need to learn to play from the beginig.

This is VERY STUPID. Maybe I'll try change settngs again... I hope it will work.

Can't even say if I like it. I miss MAKO. Why not get it from Normady crush site and reapir it? It looks good enough...

Hammerhead is much more fun than Mako. Too bad, can't say the same about the missions.
