Hammerhead really needs survivability. It's an APC/Tank, it's entire purpose as such is to protect the crew/soldiers and pack some added firepower, of if indeed a tank to engage and defeat enemy armour/spearhead assaults... and in this regard it fails.

It's fast, though you can't get anywhere near your enemy for fear that an assault rifle can kill you. I died so many times on insanity yesterday that I just got annoyed and left it alone. Modern battle tanks are immune to small/medium arms fire, so should the "high tech" Hammerhead.

The MAKO's only real flaw was it's manuverability. It otherwise was a very realistic APC. Now, the Hammerhead COULD actually be good and on par if it had the following:

Increased survivability, either in armour or shields. A passive defence mechanism, like a recharging chaff launcher/smoke grenades, ect like on modern tanks-> which could easily use the power wheel to recharge and would require some skill on the players part to use "powers" correctly to deflect enemy attacks.  This would make "frontal assaults" a viable choice, and lets face it I'm sure that's what we want out of our tank.  Secondary firepower, like a co-axial machine gun(tanks often have these as well). Multiple weapons systems exist on all modern combat systems, both for infantry supression and redundancy.

While it's a good start, I truly think that the designers need a crash course in armoured combat. A high tech tank is cool, but it needs to be a tank. It should be able to go toe to toe with Collusus, Praetorians, ect and win. Frankly, somebody could break into some alliance/earth museum, "borrow" themselves a 21st century tank and kick the crap out of the Hammerhead.

I liked it! The 3rd mission was the best in my opinion, it had a fairly sized map, enemies to battle, and it the first time I noticed random resourses littered about. It controls a hell of alot better! But I agree it needs a zoom button, and needs to be able to take more hits.

I've got the same problem.   Nothing worked.
But it is working now - RESET the keyboard settings in options. Get back to the game. Then you can change it again as you wish. It works for me.

I was little angry before bcs of the mess with the reset, but I'm happy now - it works.

HINT - you must stay on target and press PPM ( it will be PPM after reset) so long as you collect it. It takes some time and could be confusing, when controls not work.

My biggest disappointment is Hammerhead's vulnerability. the only way to win battles with geth is to jump like crazy, hide behind obstacles and fire missiles without stop. and then gun doesn't even overheat.

so: MAKO's health, guns and zoom + hammerhead's hovering = ME3 vehicle

I hope

I've enjoyed the handling of the hammerhead so far. It's fun, and i love flying through boards and jumping all over the place.

A save would be nice :)

What i found fairly fun was flying at the colosal geth and knocking them down over and over.  I'm goin gto try getting under one and jumping just for fun to see if it croaks :)

How do I start playing it!? :s I downloaded the pack and resumed my saved game. I have completed the suicide mission. Can I play firewalker with the same save file where I have already beaten the game??? It doesn't give me any new dossiers or personal messages, or new locations to the Galaxy map... Help me out!!

Load up your save game.

Anyways good parts of the firewalker thing:
controls
ambient music
mining is a step in the right direction, but should have replaced every single mining operation with the mining on the planet instead in the vehicle. Increase the gains to make up for it and make every single mission in the game use the vehicle at some point or another.

bad things:
missions are (yet again) linear as hell and boring. a good waste of 45 minutes but totally useless in the scheme of the game.
no voice acting except for like two things.
small areas to roam in, still feels like im in a box instead of a full blown out world like ME1 is.
why do rocket drones take so many hits to the face? Should only take one rocket tops. damage needs to be buffed.
homing missles -_- from a cannon? eugh
no HUD

also if your settings were messed up for vehicle then you probably have an edited coalesced.ini

your jump will probably be E and mine will be V. all my others were the same. Works out better anyways because USE should be set to E and shift should be sprint and etc but that's for another thread :P

I must agree, that tank should be a tank, but let's say - it is a prototype - still under development. I hope that Garrus, Tali and Jacob, or maybe Thane too ( regarding our lovely scan of the planets) will propose some improvements? Or maybe we find some new great technology to improve it?

I liekd the Mako more, especialy for zoom, but Hammer has potential. There will be improvemnets. I have faith :)

Ugh, what is Bioware doing to my favorite game series? This? This is not what a want. A platformer corridor shooter... Makes me really disappointed. It's EA's fault.

In the event that Bioware is reading this, I thought I'd post my thoughts on the Firewalker Mission pack.

Pros
It's free.  I think it's important to start with this because it bears on what I think are reasonable expectations.  Others may disagree; that's fine.

It was a fun forty minutes.  It was enjoyable to drive this little hover tank around, jump huge chasms, fire off infinite rockets, and explore some interesting terrain that was a bit of a change-up from other places.  While most of the level design may not have been "inspired", it was fun to fly through some canyons and jump some ramps.  I also liked the atmosphere for those portions of the missions when you did have to get out and walk around.  Still there were conceptual problems with some of the levels (see below).

I liked the little trophy you got at the end.  I wish there were a few more of these from other missions.  A nice addition.  Would be even cooler if it unlocked some sort of power or something, but it's nice to have another thing to interact with up in my quarters.

Cons
It wasn't very challenging.  I'm playing on hardcore and, to be fair, I was destroyed within 5 seconds of my first fight.  However, after that, I just learned to stay behind cover and shoot the enemies from a distance without every having to expose myself.  As combat goes, this was disappointing.

Some of the level design was kind of poor or not well thought out.  In one mission, you have to disable four shield generators.  The shield was apparently quite effectively at their original purpose of keeping a certain faction out of the area being protected but the generators were all outside of the area protected.  Stupid.  Anyone with a brain in their head would have put those generators inside the same shield they were powering.  I understand you had to come up with some way to lower or get past the shield but this was just... dumb.  I expect the people in the ME Universe to be a bit smarter than that.

Not enough dialogue or banter.  I'm not even talking about full-blown conversations, but just the opportunity to get some input from my squadmates would be good.  It was nice to encounter some journals were I heard some voices, but the utter silence of my squadmates is disappointing.  I recognize there is a challenge and cost-issues with bringing actors back into the studio for post-release DLC, but I think this is something you're going to have to come up with some creative solutions for.

Conclusion
On the whole, I'm happy enough with it (particularly since it was included with the Cerberus Network).  It was a nice little diversion and, hopefully, it was also good for you guys at Bioware to explore the flexibility of the engine and brainstorm ideas for ME3.  But I also don't much anticipate going back to play this again with future characters.

Pretty fun missions for a free download pack. Controls are great. Level design is cool.

One thing... would it have been a big deal to put in a save feature? Really... come on guys... I'd understand if these were supposed to be "challenge" missions  to "hone your skills" or something but you can't replay them so... seriously, why no save feature!?! I don't want to play the mission all over again from the beginning if I die. They're not "that fun".

Tell you what I'll do Bioware... you guys go ahead and fix that up for me and in the meantime I'll go back and continue on with Dragon Age. I'll see you later for the Kasui DLC. That should give you enough time to get the save feature working, right? OK, sweet... See you then.

Thanks, you guys are awesome!

Jumping ramps and floating around at high speeds was fun.

Killing enemies with endless shots was... somewhat satisfying, although the auto-aim got in the way a few times, but it's minor.

The ennvironment was refreshing, although a little lacking in detail at some places.

And... the DLC is intended to be available, if you used a valid serial number, for which you obviously paid money. Not free, in my opinion.

Well, a platformer/shooter. No Role Playing Game experience - no decisions to make that will shape the future of the universe, or even the future of an individual. Totally linear.

For a shooter/platformer, cool - 8/10. For a Role Playing Game - 2/10. I want an RPG, so overall score is around 2.5/10.

Lol, oh a comedian...you hurt my sides!  The point I was attemting to make is that I prefer my Alienware computer over a system.  Just have a hard time justifying buying a new system for $500 new, when I can spend the same amount boosting power exponentially on my PC...but, everyone has a preference.  Not dissing systems, because they have their place (God of War!), but for most things, it's my personal opinion the a PC is the better deal.  Let the flame war begin!  Image IPB

Uh, if you bought the game new, it's free. It's not a matter of opinion. If you bought the game used, it's not free.

an awesome free dlc. great length, enough gunning and racing. only the ending was a bit lame. could have used a bit of on foot firefight with the heretics in the end. still, it has much more pros than cons. its free people. be thankful. at least its not the lame appearance pack.

It was a fun little distraction, but I certainly wouldn't have paid for it as a standalone package. The addition of a certain little scientist from Eden Prime was cool though.

The controll it tells you to use is a Lie :< after pressing each button i had i found out the controlls

WASD - move

V - SCAN

Space - Falcon punch speed

E - JUMP

Also disapointed theres no display that shows how much Hp the thing has, the only thing that aids you in hardest mode is when you see flames comming from the engine you know you have to hide for a few seconds, Found lots of bugs as well (on all maps) managed to fly outside of the map and fell into the void :(

I mostly miss the zoom cannon and the ability to combine the vehicle combat with a troop transport task in getting your guys to an exploration area. When I kept hearing about this thing, I was picturing some open planet missions with some encounters that encouraged the use of the vehicles weapons before you unloaded your troops for a typical squad ground mission. I wasn't really expecting a hovercraft combat mini game.

In Biowares defense, I will assume that if they had had time to implement this into the original game, the missions would have made more sense and have been paced in such a way that they were a nice diversion between the usual anomaly foot missions, planet scanning and dialog missions. Likely there would have been less complaints if during the 30 hours of play, you had 5 or so missions sprinkled in, so that it mixed up the usual gameplay with some vehicle combat every several hours.

Stupid question here - how on earth do you download it? Starting yesterday, every time I go to the "New Content Available" link from within the game - I get dumped at a check out screen for the appearance pack, with no way to get to the screen that had the other downloadable content I've already installed. I assume the Firewalker update is there - but I can't get to it. Help!
