The Firewalker Humm. Well I played it, it reminds me playing arcade platform games back 80's and 90's but in 3D. Though I finished it, still have to get used to the controls. Also the pop ups was giving me the wrong information like it was showing me use 'Left Shift' for mining but it was 'v'. One good thing about it though it had no health for the tank. Good!! It keep me on my toes.

WOW there is somthing i haven't thought about in a long time..those racing bikes were awsome
i might just clear the dust off that game and go for it one more time

But it was fun doing my old Mako moves in some missions. And by that I mean ram the enemies so they fall into a lava pit.

Bad:
(1) No save while in the Hammerhead. That sucks x1000.
(2) The first mission. Arcade game with platform jumping. Ugh.
(3) Mission areas are too linear. That applies to all of ME2, but it bears repeating.
OK:
(1) Combat (last mission only). As a rule, I like it. The gun misses too often, but the enemies miss, too, so I guess it balances out. All in all maybe a bit too easy: I don't think I got hit once, and I'm actually rather bad at this kind of stuff compared to most on these forums (my standard difficulty level is Veteran). But with the no-save it's better too easy than too hard.
(2) The artifact recovery mission. Nice location, but combat gets a bit boring with all those geth who don't fire back.
(3) The resources run on the ice world. Very boring, but it doesn't matter how far you get, so it's OK.
Good:
(1) The mixed missions where you get to a location by Hammerhead and then continue on foot.
(2) The atmosphere in the Prothean site.
(3) The mission's storyline - I like missions around interesting discoveries from the enigmatic Protheans.
(4) Locations. Nicely done. As with the rest of ME2, the sidequest locations always look more like real locations than those of the character and main plot missions.
All in all, the Hammerhead is fun to navigate, but the crashing sound when you land always made me think I *did* crash. I wish for an automatic softer landing. I'd also like bigger and less linear areas to explore. A handful of ME1-style explorable planets would be very nice.

I hope the folks at bioware are working on more missions for it, since it has a lot of potential.

They did say repeatedly that they're always looking for a fitting implementation of space-sim combat, so I guess they keep the option open, even for ME2 with that grapple. I'd love to see something Descent style, with both indoor and outerspace (asteroid fields?) settings. But, it'd have to fit.DKeith 357 wrote...
Is it me or did I notice that there is still one more empty grappler in the cargo/ship bay.... dont know what that means, maybe it is left open for a new fighter for ME3 or something,
As for the firewalker, the Firewalker missions I actually found most immersive, were the ones that were ME1 style: find a specific location, disembark, do stuff, enter the Firewalker again and move to the next location.
I figure the same would apply for a spacesim version: fight stuff, dock at some station or board an enemy vessel, do stuff, and get the hell out again.

Fantastic idea. Did anyone play that Mace Griffin game? That involved that -- sorta -- you'd land on a ship and enter FPS mode, the game was kinda lack luster but the seamless space flight stuff was very coooool.
Mass Effect could pull it off pretty good I bet. I mean, the Reapers are star ships, we should be able to at least fight one in space even if its only for a brief sequence or something!

That's a good idea, let's replace the Mako mission with space fighter missions in ME3. Bioware sucks at making ground vehicles, maybe they do better with space fighters.

Well, Bioware did pretty well with Shattered Steel in '96. One of the better Mechwarrior clones I've played. That was groundbased and didn't suck.
