New class: cleric

Healing and anti-undead specialist

This may conflict the mage specialization though...

yes, but no spoilers allowed here. Look closely at the rune symbols and you will figure it out.

Said it before, and saying it again: 4th class. 4 char slots == for those who like party variety, 4 character classes.

"Cleric" doesn't fit lore. Call it a "Healer", have it wear the medium armor no one else does, and give it a mix of mace & shield, anti-undead/demon abilities, group buffs, and healing powers. Disconnect it from religion per se. And now BTW we know that both rogues & warriors can use magic-like abilities, so yes this doesn't have to BE a mage. Oh and I'd also make this class a scholar who specializes in Lore (like Beast or Item lore) as a skill.

(As I said before, I tried the cleric class "DATNG" mod somebody wrote, AFAICT he just renamed some of the mage spells, it's close, but not exactly what I was thinking of, and it had some bugs, particularly with dialogue.)

The other possibility for the 4th class is Unarmed Fighter (again don't call it "Monk" and separate it from Asian culture, both these things seem to bother people and might not fit lore), although as I said there are ways that could be done as a specialization of warrior or rogue, although it would have to be a more ... 'deeper' specialization system that changes core mechanics. Like you choose the specialization and some base mechanics/abilities change.

BTW, given that there were two parts of the Awak. game where I was doing some fistfighting because I was stripped of gear, having an Unarmed Fighter would have been really useful.

One minor, rather specific request:

When we are granted an item by an NPC (in other words, we didn't buy it or loot it), instead of just saying "item(s) received," say the name of the item(s).

This might just affect consoles, I'm not sure, or maybe even only XBox 360, but if something is new, it has the yellow outline. That's fine and all, but if it's down far enough that it doesn't show when you first open up your inventory, there's no way to scroll down without actually moving the "cursor" down. That means as soon as an item is visible, the cursor's on it, meaning the outline is gone.

So you basically have to have your entire inventory memorized, and it's even worse if the NPC doesn't narrow it down a bit (like saying, "here, take this sword" instead of just "here's a cool item for you").

The same problem sort of exists with the codex.

I agree, but you know you can change your sort function to sort by newest.

I think the main problem with Dragon Age lies around combat and the monsters so that is the main area that needs addressing.

1. The combat is FAR too lazy. It needs no skill and little thought to win every battle.

The way to revise this is to punish/reward the players by giving monsters some actual defenses and weaknesses to exploit. You should be punished for attacking a Charred Sylvan with fire. You should be rewarded for attacking a fire breathing dragon with cold attacks. Golems could be heavily resistant to magic (ie. 90%). Spirits could be heavily resistant to physical attacks (ie. 90%). Some creatures might absorb certain attacks. Some might heal from certain attacks. Others might reflect certain attacks...use some imagination.

2. The monsters are basically terrible, they need a complete redesign/overhaul from the mechanics upwards.

Each monster should have:

a. A unique power (something that distinguishes them from other enemies)
b. A formation when encountered in groups
c. Individual tactics (who do they prefer to attack and why)
d. A basic strategy backed up by statistical mechanics (eg. one enemy holds a standard that gives all others a defense/armour bonus while held aloft)
e. Individual behaviour (are they aggressive, defensive, stupid, smart etc.)
f. Morale rating ('cowardly' wouldn't fight to the death, 'heroic' might be more aggressive when the last man standing)

Bosses should feature:

a. Recurring Boss fights
b. Multi-phase Battles
c. Bosses with multiple energy bars (or parts of them) to attack
d. Change tactics/powers/shape during the course of the battle.

3. They need to remove level scaling otherwise we'll still be fighting generic darkspawn when we are level 100.

My suggestion is to remove level scaling and substitute Rank Scaling. So that every 5 level jump a monster drops down a rank.

e.g. Darkspawn

Genlock = Normal rank Level 3
Hurlock = Normal rank Level 8, Lieutenant Rank Level 3
Shriek = Normal rank Level 13, Lieutenant rank Level 8, Boss rank level 3
Ogre = Normal rank level 18, Lieutenant rank Level 13, boss rank level 8, Elite Boss rank level 3

etc.

In addition we can still have different ranks within the same Darkspawn type

Hurlock = Normal rank Level 8
Hurlock Alpha = Normal rank level 13
Hurlock Emissary = Normal rank level 18
Hurlock General = Normal rank level 23

Also, for generic monsters what we can add are various Templates. These give Bioware loads of variants.

e.g. Wolf = Normal Rank Level 3

Blight Tainted Wolf = Normal Rank level 8 (+5 Levels)
Steel Wolf (Golem Wolf) = Normal rank Level 13 (+10 levels)
Demon Wolf = Normal Rank Level 18 (+15 levels)
Angelic Wolf of Andraste = Normal Rank Level 23 (+20 levels)

Zombie Wolf = Normal Rank level 8 (+5 levels)
Skeleton Wolf = Normal rank level 13 (+10 levels)
Blood Wolf (Vampiric) = Normal rank level 18 (+15 levels)
Spirit Wolf = Normal rank Level 23 (+20 levels)

Again these templates could apply to powered up versions of the beasts as well.

So if we had

Lion = Normal rank Level 8
Griffon = Normal rank Level 13
Questing Beast = Normal rank level 18
Terrible Monster = Normal rank Level 23

The Blood Griffon would be Normal Rank Level 28 (base 13 + 15 for Vampiric Template)

The things i want for DA2:

-Voices for the main character like in SWTOR(Star Wars The Old Republic (MMORPG))
-Continuation of my Grey Warden Character(In the Epilogue says he dissappears, hope he isn't become a ghoul)
-An ancient ritual(preferably not blood magic) that prolongs the life of the Warden, that is to say living longer and not becoming a ghoul for many years to come.
-Alastair rejoining the Wardens in Thedas' darkest hour
-Rebreeding the Griffons(that would be a wicked quest( I can see it now you randomly find a griffon egg, examine it determine it's a griffon egg, take it, a warden sees you with and faints because he can't believe that's a griffon egg))
-Grffon's being a way to transport your self from large distances like over the Dragonbone wastes or the Frostback mountains
-The return of Morrigan and her child
-The return of Leliana, Alastair, Dog and Shale(because i wanna see of she's still a golem or she has gained herself a new dwarven female body).
-More areas to explore
-Side and companion quests taking side affects(but not grave consequences)
-A vision of the Maker(I wanna learn his name) and Andraste but for an extremly dangerous quest to find again the Ashes of Andraste(considering you didn't kill the high dragon at the ruined temple) to prove yourself
-More and longer cameos (you see Wynne and Alastair in Awakening for what, a minute!?!)
-More levels, spells talents and specializations but them to be balanced
-To see Kal'Hirol returned to it's former glory
-To see the other Thaigs restored since the Deep roads have been very and I mean very quiet)
-The current leader of Orzzamer inviting me to a yet another  for another thanks party
-To see Kal'Sharok and Orzzamar in good terms and reconnected
-To see Caridin
-To see Justice yet again but this time can walk freely without a bodyImage IPB
-More romance options
-More dialogue
-Wider areas(even though The Awakening didn't have that much areas they were very big)
-To fight an ancient evil even more ancient than the darkspawn!
-The Darkspawn to be alies(how do you think of that darkspawn haters huhImage IPB)
-The areas of DAO and DAA to be revamped as in to be made more medieval with some tight streets but no guns I would kill Bioware if they that(no offence but moderators if you think the killing thing is inappropriate please snip it please snip this too if you have to)
-Dragon and and griffon mounts
-More Fade action
-More special cutscenes when present a specific gift to a specific companion
-More companion space(I mean when your choosing companions and when your outside to have more party space
Example:You have 15 companions which excides DAO companions and have like 6 party members fighting thugs)
Tha would be all for now

-More hard game and remaking skills: It was to easy the game with the new skills like warrior with Air of Insolence (new branch spells last spell) or the new mage specialization Keeper. And the remake of Paralysis and the area paralysis because even the boss can't resist it.
-Old Conversation mode.
-Continue the history: I don't think that bioware and ea games going to continue the history because at the end in the eqpilogue you leave vigil's keep and go to live with Lealiana (you forgot all the **** of morrigan and child history), but i hope that your character come back like Warden's Commander and start fighting darkspawns again.

My wishes would depend a lot on when DA2 takes place. IF it continues the warden's story current love interests should progress, all companions that haven't died should be there.

But I would take a guess DA2 takes places after everyone in DA has died and the King (or Queen) left no heir, in which case I want companions that are removed from what we expect, example: no wicked witches and drunken dwarves, why can't I get a devout and pious dwarf and a happy witch?

MORE armor and robes, or at least more variation in colors and texture. Especially if the game is again 60 ish hours give or take.

Return of the old conversation system, the new conversation system can only come back if it enhances the old.

A romance with people who are not: virgins, loose, or too 'good' or too 'evil'.   Would like a romance with someone that's closer to life I guess, that is not stereotyped and has a more interesting approach to things. I think Zevran so far fits my idea of this the best.

It's doubtfull that the Warden Commander that you imported will be killed off just yet. DA:A left the door open for more DLC so who knows.
-

-An ancient ritual(preferably not blood magic) that prolongs the life of the Warden, that is to say living longer and not becoming a ghoul for many years to come.-

The Wardens die after 30 years. Do not ask Bioware to retcon the lore like that. Your Warden < Other Wardens.
-Alastair rejoining the Wardens in Thedas' darkest hour
-

-Rebreeding the Griffons-

Extinction. Again you can't retcon lore because "hey lol they might have a hidden secret special area where they can bread".
-

-Grffon's being a way to transport your self from large distances like over the Dragonbone wastes or the Frostback mountains-

WoW is ---------------->
-

-The return of Leliana, Alastair, Dog and Shale(because i wanna see of she's still a golem or she has gained herself a new dwarven female body).-

Shale makes it clear she doesn' want to be a "squishy" flesh being.

-

-A vision of the Maker(I wanna learn his name) and Andraste but for an extremly dangerous quest to find again the Ashes of Andraste(considering you didn't kill the high dragon at the ruined temple) to you prove yourself-

His name is The Maker. It's not going to be Steve or Stewie. Not even Fred, Franklin, Froy or otherwise. And the Ashes have already been found. Retcon request again. Please stop wishing for that to happen.

I'm imagining that DA2 will be a different story (i.e. not the same characters etc) rather than the continuation of the existing character story line from DA:O (like set in Antiva or Orlais, etc, or some sort of Chantry mission rather than a Grey Warden mission), or it is set in a different time (like Morigan's child grown up as the main character, etc) I make that inference not really based on any facts, just a gut feeling.

Having said that ...

1) I like the variety of companions but even more so, I want them to have background that can be discovered, explored, and factor in to current events. Perhaps some have more than one companion side quest, and so on.

2) (mentioned by SirOccam above) On the console version, when I get new items, they are highlighted in yellow but as I scroll down, the highlighting gets wiped so I have no good way to see what the new item is/are. So either saying what the new item is, or a different (but still non obtrusive) way to denote the new items

3) I don't like swapping out equipment, especially when it's stuff like "Family Sword" and so on. But given that they are low tier, you do have to , eventually do so. So maybe if you have stuff like "Shield with your family crest on it" and so on, -some- items can scale up with you (or you have runes that can enhance them further, or some sort of other craft skill that lets you increase certain items to higher tiers) that way you don't have to get rid of the items that seem very core to your background.

4) -possibly- have some minor customization available on the look of armor/items like you do in ME2 (you could change the way some armor looked, in terms of color and pattern)

5) I don't (necessarily) need a new class for the sake of having a new class (i'm a firm believer in -- don't do it for the sake of doing it, do it because there is a great concept and it works well). But some new skills (or even reskinning of older skills to make them seem new enough) just so that we don't feel like we're playing the same game with the same tactics as before

6) (unless i missed an option) some sort of sub-category volume control. Currently there is a volume control for voices (which affects all voice actor voice inserts). However, I'd like to further separate the volume. I want the conversational voices to be up (my screen is too small to effectively read subtitles), BUT I want to turn down the volume of battle-fight voices (the screaming, etc). When I have -that- volume up, the people in the next room of the house think I'm watching porn :-P so i'd like to have separate volume controls for those sub-groups of voice volume.

7) Keep up with the fun story and lore :)

(there might be more, but that's all i can think up at the moment)

It would be really cool if every origin had an individual path of tackling the overarching story. It should still be possible to try oneself at those paths that are intended for other origins, but it should be harder, more complicated (or with unexpected bonusses?).

The most important thing for me would be a sense of vastness and aliveness of the world. I don't care how, but I think it needs more of that.

If I remember right even finishing Shales companion quest doesn't change the fact that she prefers being a Golem over a flesh creature. I know she takes a better likeing to the Warden in DA:O, and prefers her over the reset of the flesh beings. But she still holds a tone of disintrest towards human elves or otherwise.

I could be wrong tho. I just specifically remember all the "Humans are bad and squishy" and not getting crapped onto Shale from being eaten by the AD.

YES! Most definitely! Someone got the idea to make a mod for this, but it hasn't gotten off the ground yet.

EDIT: Here is the link for the project I mentioned, in case anyone cared or wanted to raise it's popularity in hopes of getting it off the ground.

When we are granted an item by an NPC (in other words, we didn't buy it or loot it), instead of just saying "item(s) received," say the name of the item(s).

Good news: there is a Dragon Age Mutator option to enable this. Somebody gives you the "knife of cheese power". You see red text that says exactly what you were just given.

Only thing that can get annoying: red text will appear showing every item you picked up or looted, as well.

AFAICT, Mutator, like Beguiler, seems completely Awakening-compatible, although I'm not 100% sure this is so for all of its possible "mutations".

I will say that I like this mod and wish others could be like this (Combat Tweaks, anyone) insofar as it offers like 20 possible changes to the game but asks you which ones you want to install, instead of forcing them all on you. Because of this, though, it has its own installer. Heck, it even warns you on "risk levels" of "gamebreakiness". That's good mod design.

Interaction with conversation,but class dependent!

If I am a mage I don't want to just outright kill someone with a knife or w/e, but do something in a more mage way.Light them on fire with magic, put them in a never ending sleep, turn them into a toad, or cast a low level fire spell in their lunges; burning the interior of it and slowly, but painfully suffocating them to death. Leave all the persuasive crap to the cowardly rogues who hide in the shadows. We can threaten them but make it more magical like showing the way we will kill them if they don't comply through linked visions.

Bring back morrigan (yep, I am a sucker for vixens and cold hearted shrews.)

Imported characters that did the dark promise have a completely different storyline from those who would create a new character or sacrificed alistair.

More class like; class system. None of this 4 point specialization crap, but more indepth specialization and skills.

Bring necromancy into the world and I will walk the path of evil (or good) every playthrough!
