Finally, after a dead pc and a very buisy months i had the time to grab ME2 and to play it :)

first... the game is good and generally fun to play, it have some very nice missions (not just kill 'em all) a good atmosphere and all area are well made with some nice touchs (like pubblicity on the citadel or the Krogan hitting each others and so on)... i reaaaaaally liked the way Bioware have handled all the decision made in ME1 and, even if they have not a big impact in the game outcome, is was very nice to see a mail from an "old friend" or to meet people we encountered in ME1 and be able to speak a bit with them and to know what happened to them in these 2 years...

there where also some minor "cosmetic" changes as the armor/casual look, that i really liked, i also like the new "loot system" and the "research" option we have for our ship, i wish we had a bit more option for our comrades and to have a casual and armor look for them too (to have a comrade sustain heavy fire naked is a bit silly, same to board a station with no life support and just wear a sort of mask on the mouth)

a big props even for the VO guys and localization staff (italian version here), i think the VO is generally better than ME1 that still was extremely good.

In the end my experience with the game was pretty positive but there are some things that imo where better in ME1 and i want to outline

first of all the combat...
Combat changed quite a bit from ME1, in this chapter there is no real tanking and CC capabilities where nerfed into oblivion, this by itself is imo not a bad thing as now is more important to use cover and there is a bit more tactical attention to it... but, on the other hand, the general cooldown, and the reduction of skills and powers at our disposal made it also a bit more "shallow"

I tried a few classes and completed the game with 2 chars so far and i didnt found much difference in the way to use them... sure an infi is going to max his dmg bonus to oneshot enemies, an adept is going to use warp or sing+warp combo (at least when possible) but in the end the game options seem to narrow in a single skill to spam to maximize dmg and a few situational skills.

there is also a sort of redundancy with skills, expecially the bonus ones, and that kinda limits the options at our disposal both for the main char and the party.

NPCS
about our party also i have some different feelings, some chars are pretty interesting as some loiality missions, but there are things i really miss from ME1.... the dialogue options are kinda limited for many chars, there is no banter and on various planets/missions our comrades are just there shoting stuff and saying just a few predefined lines.

in ME1 our companions where way more "alive", they had different dialogues for various situations and examining various stuff had different reaction from them... so entering in at Chora nest (?) you had Ash gettin angry for all the place while Tali was speaking about the high reguard of dancers in the Quarian culture. same can be said for various dialogues with various npcs when they where a bit more talkative or just the funny banter inside the elevator (at some points i was gettin the elevator just to hear them :P)

another problem of various npcs is that due to the low and kinda similar skills is very easy to have veeeeery similar chars, maybe with just a weapon or a single skill difference making 1 of the chars kinda obsolete, an example of tahat is Tali vs Legion... they are almost identical but legion have a waaaaaaaaaaay better weapon choice and a bonus to tech recharge making him just better... in ME1 the most similar chars where probably Tali and Garrus, but in the end they where pretty close in efficency and with different strong points.

about weapon choices for npcs they are not balanced at all... sniper (widow in particular) and AR generally outperform every other weapon, shotgun (a "specialization" weapon) in particular is kinda weak as it lost the good carnage option and is problematic to apply its potential damage due to the pallet spread.

these are probably my biggest concerns, as said the game is still fun but i found ME1 combat to be generally funnier and more varied (?) and as said i liked less companion but more "alive" and detailed, rather than the quiet (and some shallow) ones in this chapter.

i also miss a bit the mako, in ME1 probably there was too much time spent on it (and some frustrating one) but it was fun to drive it in various missions, i also miss a bit the variety of planets and visuals, there where very nice planets in ME1... true you where not able to do much with them, but they gave some nice atmosphere on the game (like to look up and see the planet with the huge "scar" on its side in the sky)

ok thats all, again this is not to "bash the game", as said the game is fun, this is just my feedback, for ME3 personally i will like some steps back to the original game concept in reguard of char developement and diversification, keeping and improving the good things we saw on ME2.
