I managed to buy Return to Ostagar some time ago, but haven't come around to playing it yet. It shows up as installed and enabled under Downloaded Content.

Since I wanted to try it out now before buying Awakening, I loaded the Epilogue-Savegame from a previous playthrough of the game. But when I get to the map there's no Marker for Bann Loren's Land or any new quests in my journal. What must I do to play the DLC?

Return to Ostagar is basically a 30 minute dungeon romp where you collect a few items like King Cailin's item set. The main benefit to playing it is that the items carry over to Awakening (while the other DLCs/bonus items do not). That is, unless you plan on modding your game.

Thanks for the answer, but it's not exactly what I was asking about. I do know what the DLC is about. I just don't know how I can play it.

Anytime after Lorthering you'll see an area on the map you can go to called Bann Loren's lands. That is where the quest starts.

It doesn't matter what savegame I load (anything after Lothering up to the epilogue-save that was made, when I finished the original game). Even though the Journal shows up Return to Ostagar as enabled DLC, the area simply doesn't appear on the map.

Are there any know issues with version 1.3 and this DLC probably?

You should see an icon on the map called Bann Loren's Lands...click on that to start the Return To Ostagar quest.

Try moving from one point to another on the map to see if you that generates anything.

does the quest show up in your game journal under premium content?

No. It doesn't show up. Even though the Ostagar-DLC appears under DLC in the journal as enabled

What platform are you playing on?

If you are playing on PC do you mean it shows up in the main game menu under DLC but doesn't show up in the "in game" journal under premium content for any save game?

I am playing the PC version. And it shows up in the main menu as well as in the journal "in game" as enabled. But there is neither a new quest or an area on the map, where I could travel to.

I bought and downloaded the DLC itself some weeks ago, but didn't play the game in that time. The only thing I did with it in the mean time was updating to version 1.3. And when I wanted to try out the DLC finally yesterday, it was as I describe in this thread.

So under the Premium content tab of the current quest tab in your game journal you don't have a quest titled: A Kings Confidant?

(Thats the RTO quest - perhaps you have to click on it to get the area to show up on your map)

If that quest is not there then perhaps you will want to remove RTO from your enabled content in the main menu and redownload it altho I'm not certain how you do that.

Ah, i think if you are loading the epilogue saved game it may be the wrong one.

Try reloading a saved game BEFORE the Final battle and see if you get it that way.

No quest "A King's Confidant"

If only that were the cause, but I loaded many different savegames between Lothering and the end. Always with the same result. I guess i will just try to redownload RTO, as wanderon suggested, and see what happens then.

Thanks for everybodies help so far!

Had the same issue with my copy of RtO, what you need is to download the file that starts up the whole chain - I'll see if I can find it for you.

Found it, just read this post and you should have that issue fixed :)

Thank you very much for that link Piwowarski! Downloading the offer-file for RtO and installing it with DAOUpdater did fix it!

Trying out solutions on my end for RTO. I had the same problem despite having downloaded the offer, so just re-downloading them and if thatdoesn't work then I'll just diable content then load save without content, save it then re-enable it and go back into the game.

I started a whole new game when I got the DLC just because I figured that the one I had wouldn't update.

Don't forget to get Duncan's sword and dagger.. Great weapons after you add  some enchantments. I use them in Awakening.

Did anyone else feel weird about wearing Cailan's armor? I usually put it on Alistair as to increase his viability as a candidate for the throne (metagame). But for my warrior or even Arcane-Warrior I always thought it would be odd to wear the armor of the man that Loghain is accusing us of killing in the first place.

Also, on that note, bringing Loghain to Ostagar gives us some interesting dialogue concerning his perception of the late king.

Cyrus Amell, I don't  use Cailan's armor either.. I feel its wrong for the same reason.

I do use his sword. After I get Duncan's sword and dagger I pass the sword to Leliana my second rogue.

You'd rather have the darkspawn keep the armor?

Besides, Alistair always end up with a similar set if he takes the throne.

I place the breastplate and helm in the Soldier's Peak chest, and I just use the gloves and grieves for Oghren and Sten as extra gear.

That just gave me a funny mental image. The Warden and Alistair walking into the Landsmeet looking like they robbed the king's corpse after their rumored betrayal.
