No, it pretty much is.
Horse armor was a ripoff, too, of course; this just slightly less so.

Great Idea!
Instead of just putting one new skin for 3 partymembers and charging 2 euro/dollar whatever, it would be nicer to see an armor dlc for each members containing around 5 new skins for each. It would allow for more customizations, since you could download it for the members you like to use, and you could choose not to buy the other ones.
Personally I would pay around 5 dollars for each, but thats just me
Five dollars? ... hmm. Not sure a dollar a skin is a good ratio, especially since I could hammer out a skin in about a day on GIMP. For Second Life, of course, and not a particularly good one, but still, this isn't a bad idea, though I'd start at, say, three dollars per pack of skins, and maybe do combo packs for a discount. Still, I really think having Jack in something like light Colossus armor would help ridiculously in my enjoyment of the game. (AND hearing her kvetch about it. But that's purely bonus content IMO, BioWare.)

Charging. For skins.
And the Cerberus Network is for...what, exactly?
We got some free armor, a few weapons, and the hovertank. Im sure theres probably going to be more things added in the future, but the large things cost money to create. This is not one of those things, but atleast its not as bad as horse armor. Three armors for horses,i think 8$(maybe 5$). Atleast its not a huge ripoff.
Fair enough, my general reaction is more "meh I don't really want that". Though if there were 12 skins for $5 I might. In terms of price points I think $2 for 3 skins is a bit high, but I think $2 for 12 might be a bit low. Then again that's just completely uninformed opinon as I've no idea of the cost or how many people are likely to buy it. Generally though I suspect most people who post on forums tend to horribly underestimate costs (not directed to you).mortons4ck wrote...

I honestly don't even know if I'll buy this. I don't care enough about it either way honestly.
Having said that, the option to change 3 team members appearance for $2 is there for the people that DO care. If you don't care you can go on about your day completely unaffected by this. Why this would cause people to get so upset, I have no idea.
It's less about the price, and more about it being insulting.
Sure, I'll elaborate. It seems like they could easily sell 12 costumes for $2, but want to test the boundries of how weak willed the customer is by chopping it up and selling only 25% of the product for full price in order to maximize gain. So instead of an actual "alternative appearance pack" we get a "1/4th alternative appearance pack."
This, of course, is smart business. However, smart business in this case tends to imply some guilibility on the part of the consumer.
With all other DLC we are atleast getting a relatively complete product. What they're doing to this DLC would be analogous to chopping up the Kasumi DLC mid-mission and making you buy it in parts at full price. Also, I mentioned in my previous post how in Oblivion's much lamented Horse Armor, Bethesda didn't chop up the horse armor and sell it in pieces for each individual horse, which is what Bioware/EA seem to be doing now.
To me, it's insulting to my intelligence that they are selling me a partial product at full price and think that the gamer's are too dumb to see it for what it is.

I am rapidly losing interest in Bioware games! With all this dlc/cut content it seems like we'll end up buying "shells" of games in the future. If you want any meat in it, pay extra....

Its not as bad as your making it out to be. We got a full game, just a few small tidbits missings.

I reserve the right to voice my opinion on this and other things. I've noticed a trend on these boards. Where if you have anything but complete praise for bioware somebody will wag a finger and demand you take it quietly whatever it may be and say thank you after you've paid.hex23 wrote...

Why charge for any content sort of an expansion pack?
I assume you meant "short of an expansion pack".
Why? Because they wanted to. And they told people they would. They never said "anything aside from an expansion pack is free".
Like I said this is the equivalent of buying furniture for PSN Home, or a shirt for your XBL Avatar. Totally optional and it doesn't affect your experience at all, either way. It's not worth the $2? Don't buy it. Speak with your wallet.

A ridiculous offer, how dare Bioware and EA treat their customers like this. I'm serious. This is f**king bulls**t. Pay actual money for a couple of virtual costumes for squadmates? Like, really Bioware? They think people are stupid (which people are if they pay for this crap).

The artists don't get paid from DLC sales.

but they got paid to create the content. artists receive a paycheck from money that bioware gets from investors.
bioware has to make more money back than they spent. it is called capitalism, welcome
