What point?  That we all knew at some point in time some DLC wouldn't be free?

I'm not wealthy or rich by any standard and I don't enjoy throwing away my money like the next sensible person. Considering a meal at your local fast food restaurant would cost you $2 or more and provide you with less satisfaction and enjoyment, the price for something optional seems pretty reasonable to me.  Don't want it, don't buy it.

While some might be whining(Haven't read the whole thread) others are merely stating their displeasure and the fact they won't pay for it - its called customer feedback.  It can be helpful in decideing what DLC to create and what kind of prices to release it at later.

Anyways, what kinds of DLC comes out and what people end up paying for it is in the hands on the community now - if a majority of the people are willing to pay more for a little, then everyone will, because that will be the norm.  If they charged 5$ for it and it went well, they'd charge 5$ for a similar amount of content later.  Its how the business works.

Christ, people it's $2.

If you don't like the costumes don't buy them.

And if you can't afford $2 you shouldn't have a game system to begin with.

It 2$ now and and thats the problem, It sounds cheap but in fact is not think about it, they say they will be supporting new DLC tell Me3 so 2 year is a safe bet.
Now you drop 2$ here and there over the course of two years and they can easily nickel and dime you for 100$ or more with out you even knowing thats the beauty of lots of little cheap DLC's spread over a long time.

-Exactly. If each set has alternate clothing for just 3 companions that’s going to cost you $8 for all 4 sets for all 12 of them. Now we have 13 in total so I expect another 5th set unless Kasumi already will have a third one included in her download. Possibly paying $10 for one extra set of alternate cloths (that probably don’t have an option to get rid of the sunglasses) isn’t a good marketing deal. Its more like a scam like you got from EA’s Madden ’10 downloads on the X-Box Marketplace. Anyone on X-Box 360 can check this out for themselves. If you got all the game downloads (minus the later added bundle packs, avatar junk or the 2 videos that cost 400 points each) you would spending 3240 Microsoft Points. At a rate of 80 points equaling $1 that’s over $40 for junk that should have been in the game already.

Really, I can't believe something like the Firewalker pack is free, but crap like this will be two dollars. Sad thing is, I'll probably end up buying it anyway. :P Must.... resist!

No, don't resist. You support companies so I don't have to!

This causes me to wonder about Kasumi. I'm thinking the 10-12 dollar (U.S.) range now. Maybe more.

This is the main reason I made this thread. The actual price of it is irrelevant - I don't care if it was a penny or 20 bucks, but I'm really curious at the thought process of charging for a very small (and honestly poorly made) costume pack as opposed to 5 free brand new missions that both release on the same day.

That at least is easy to answer: The vehicle was supposed to be in the main game (the controls can already be configured), but the game was rushed out of the door before it was implemented. So they finished it later. If you want to find something positive, you can at least be glad that they aren't charging for it as well. I'm sure BioWare/EA were tempted, but probably decided not to deal with the outcry about something so blatant. Besides, they needed some content for their Cerberus scheme anyway.

I would have hoped that we would've got new costumes for the entire party for 2 dollars. And those shades ... I'll skip this.

Huh, 160MP eh....

To be honest, in all the 'blatent rip off DLC' I've seen crop up on XBL over the past few years, this isn't that bad. Hell I think EA charged you for cheats at one point.

Garrus's costume will sway many people (purely cos it's fixed :D), whilst Thane has a Drell-Neo vibe haha.

Let's not discuss Jack's costume.

Three costumes out of twelve characters for 2 bucks is not worth it. I thank Bioware for all of the free stuff they've given us, and I'll probably buy Kasumi. Would've even bought the Firewalker pack. But this isn't worth two bucks.

The description says "including Thane, Garrus and Subject Zero". If there are alternate costumes for other characters AND I CAN SEE WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE BEFORE I BUY THEM I will consider it.

Otherwise, I'm not paying $2 just to fix Garrus' armor.

I posted a link to the DLC page near the end of page 3, go check it out.

EDIT: Actually, here you go again:

masseffect.bioware.com/info/dlc/

Thanks.  I saw that before I posted.  Garrus' is the only one of the three shown I would be interested in.  The description suggests that outfits for more than three character are included.

I'll wait for more details before making a decision.

I'll finally be able to make Jack wear a real shirt instead of one that's just been painted on?

Hell yes I'll buy this.

Same here.  Sadly, it does not sound like we'll be getting more than these three (for now anyway).

"The second is a new DLC Item we are announcing today. There will be an Alternative Appearance pack where Thane, Jack and Garrus will each get a new appearance to use in game. It will be available on Tuesday March 23 (the same day as the Firewalker DLC)."

From this thread.

I'm disappointed to hear it costs. It really doesn't add much. At the same time I'm curious as to what the alternative costumes look like for the rest of the characters.

Are they charging for the PC version too?

I just think it's plain weird that they post three of the costumes in a DLC pack but not the rest (if that's the case). And allright, a picture of three costumes but why not mention all the costumes in the pack? It's not like it's the end-all DLC, here.

I'll be waiting for updates on this before deciding, but as long as this is regarding three costumes my previous statement holds true.

I will not be buying three costumes for $2. And I'll probably think twice or more before paying $2 for all 12 or 13.

Second place I'm saying this... if these outfits don't include outfits that people going into battle in space would wear, then I'm not buying it. (I must admit that if it does have those for Jack, Jacob, Miranda, and Samara... possibly Thane, didn't take him with me for what I want to call the Oghren Syndrome -- party was already full, got another character, do I need him really? ... then fine, it's two dollars, I'll go to 7-11 instead of Starbucks for my coffee that week.)

There's a reason that I ended up using just Grunt, Garrus and Tali towards the end of the game, it just felt less level-breaking to me than all the characters just using facemasks in space.

Charging for this is stupid. Kasumi is ok. Not gonna get this. Should be Cerberus Network.

But I guess it'll be as I thought. Every DLC from now on will be paid. Even if it is as simples as this. I'll be impressed if we have another Cerberus Network release after Firewalker.

Realistically, are three very minor costume alterations (basically recoloring with very slight additions) good value for $2.00? No chance. However, the mentality is "Hey, it's only $2.00...people will pay it, regardless of what it is."
