I am not arguing that it is not done anywhere or that EA is the lesser of any evil.
My statements are revovling aroung at how voracious EA is and frankly they are part of a pack leading the way offering nickel and dime DLC that aren't worth dimes or nickels.

Even if sales of their DLC go down or don't meet expectations the blame will fall on Bioware, customers, and the favored scapegoat pirates. EA will use those excuses to increase the cost of DLC rather than obeying the laws of supply/demand.

True, when crap DLC comes out, whoever the dev/pub is, they are responsible for it of course. (A little bit off topic: Nacmo-Bandai is the King of crap dlc, I guess they are less know in western world since their game are more...hmm how to put it...Japanese/Asian style.) But you need 'dumb' customer to fuel it too, for example: when companies can sell PS3/Xbox wallpaper/theme w/e for 3 bucks why would they stop?

'Crappy' dlc will keep coming out, but as long as compaines still put out quailty DLC that is worth the purchase, it is ok.

And I thought Bioware was generous :(

Are you serious? They gave us Zaeed, his mission, the Cerberus Armor, Eviscerator Shotgun, the Arc Projector, the Hammehead and 5 Firewalker missions free. They are charging $2 for this which isn't much, and if you don't want to buy it the game isn't affected at all. It's basically like buying furniture for Home on PSN, which ironically costs more than $2 yet people still buy it.

On a top 10 list of bad companies it doesn't make a difference if EA is #1 or #10; bad is bad.

Themes and wallpaper are standardized in a way the customer knows what to expect for 3 bucks.
I have played Tales of Vesparia. I have seen the DLC for it, laughable.
Question even if it is EAs right to produce as much DLC as they want and charge any fee they want, do I want a ME2 DLC list the resembles Tales of Vesperia or would I rather have a DLC list the resembles FO3 or even Borderlands.

Quality DLC from EA. So far this year it isn't looking likely for customers.

Why charge for any content sort of an expansion pack?

For me the money isn't the issue, its the nature of the content that I don't like. I love you Bioware, but this isn't the content I want for an RPG.

Does not matter at all. Stuff like this was advertised and promoted to be free from the get go. They made a big deal about buying the game new and getting the cerberus network for FREE DLC.

No it wasn't advertised as free. "Content" was advertised as free, and we got free content. Ironically we're getting more free content the same day this arrives, and you're still complaining.

They never said "everything would be free if you get the Cerberus Network". They made it a point to say certain things would cost money.

I assume you meant "short of an expansion pack".

Why? Because they wanted to. And they told people they would. They never said "anything aside from an expansion pack is free".

Like I said this is the equivalent of buying furniture for PSN Home, or a shirt for your XBL Avatar. Totally optional and it doesn't affect your experience at all, either way. It's not worth the $2? Don't buy it. Speak with your wallet.

Technically, if one were inclined to be pedantic about it, the Cerberus network isn't free, it cost's MS points.

The fact that up untill a certain date, theose people that buy a new copy of the game get a download code for it, doesn't mean it's classed as being free.  If it were then there would be no option to buy it.

That's fine. You can conveniently pretend this content doesn't exist, and the game isn't affected at all.

Basically people are complaining that Bioware is charging $2 for something that some people want to pay $2 for. You don't like it? Act like it never came out. Problem solved.

Well, 'Dumb' customer fuels crap DLC, customer like you fuels good DLC. A company could do both at the same time, Capcom and RE5 is like the most current example. Let's hope crap dlc declines in sales and companies get rewarded for making good dlc.

Anyways, good thing to talk about gaming micro-transaction with you and others, off from work now so I won't see this board for awhile :P

There's an option to buy it because of the used game market. The Network itself is free if you bought the game new. If you didn't buy the game new the $15 ironically offsets any lower price you would've paid.

This thread is basically people complaining about other people having the option to spend money on completely optional stuff. You can pretend the Cerberus Network never came out and still beat the game just fine.

Because they are a business and they want to make money?  At least to me a more reasonable question would be: why would they give anything away for free?  But I'm a capitalist at heart.  Personally I'm not that interested in the appearance pack so I probably won't be buying it, but it certainly doesn't bother me that they are charging for it.

Bah! It looks like only SuZe, Thane, and Garrus will get new costumes. The other 9 are S.O.L.

I honestly don't even know if I'll buy this. I don't care enough about it either way honestly.

Having said that, the option to change 3 team members appearance for $2 is there for the people that DO care. If you don't care you can go on about your day completely unaffected by this. Why this would cause people to get so upset, I have no idea.

I see what you mean, but this kind of content is not what makes makes ME2 a great game. I didnt really care for the costume system at all let alone have more of it. Like I said before, if they want to release something like this they should also gives us something extra to the game like maybe give access to some or all the preorder items that would win me over.
