Edit: and I've got a fix for it, I think (there might be a simpler way to do this, but this is what seemed to work for me).
- Open up your Dragon Age game folder.
- Open addins, then dao_prc_ep_1 under there.
- Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file.
- Select from the <AddInItem line all the way down to and including the </AddInItem> line (this is almost the entire contents of the file).
- Copy it to the clipboard.
- Open your My Documents folder.
- Open up BioWare, Dragon Age, Settings.
- Right-click Edit the AddIns.xml file.
- Go right to the bottom of this file, and immediately before the final </AddInList> tag (ie. right after the last </AddInItem> tag, paste the text you copied earlier.
- Save and close everything, then run the game. Awakening should appear properly now.

I then installed the game again, on MY Windows profile and it worked. uecasm's solution seems quicker but I only just noticed this thread
It's silly that Awakening setup doesn't mark the expansion as being installed for all users on a PC :-/

I have the same problem. It all installed successfully (or so it said), but New Game only offers the original options and Other Campaigns is greyed out. So it looks like something hasn't registered properly.

That Addins.xml file you pasted the text into should have already had entries in it for all the DLC (and hopefully you didn't get rid of it, just added the new bit onto the end like I said). If it didn't, then maybe you're trying to play using the wrong user profile?nate_brash wrote...

Unfortunately it is not working for me. However i don't understand the "Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file." I right-click it but i don't find any edit option. So i tru to use word to make the changes. And awakening continue to not run
I am able to play awakening as Admin, but if i try to use any other computer profile (even the one that i had played the game) i am only be able to play the original campaign. All the other bioware games i have (NWN with expansions, Mass Effect1 and 2, even DA:O) i never have any problem, i have them install as admin but i am able to play as any other user.
Any other ideas?

when you right click the xml file you should be given the option to "open with" select notepad or any other good editor

I dont even have that file or folder under Dragon Age... Does that mean my Expansion Pack hasn't even installed?
If you look in X:/Program Files/Dragon Age/Addins and dao_prc_ep_1 is not listed then it`s not installed
but according to your avatar it`s registered
