I have the same problem. It all installed successfully (or so it said), but New Game only offers the original options and Other Campaigns is greyed out. So it looks like something hasn't registered properly.

Edit: and I've got a fix for it, I think (there might be a simpler way to do this, but this is what seemed to work for me).

  • Open up your Dragon Age game folder.
  • Open addins, then dao_prc_ep_1 under there.
  • Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file.
  • Select from the  line (this is almost the entire contents of the file).
  • Copy it to the clipboard.
  • Open your My Documents folder.
  • Open up BioWare, Dragon Age, Settings.
  • Right-click Edit the AddIns.xml file.
  • Go right to the bottom of this file, and immediately before the final tag (ie. right after the last tag, paste the text you copied earlier.
  • Save and close everything, then run the game.  Awakening should appear properly now.

Hm, ok. Steps number 1-4 are confusing. I have no Addins under my main programs and Files DA folder( C\\PFiles\\EA\\DA)

When I looked at the Addin XML under settings, I noticed that I had the entire Awakening Stuff there already.(will copy/paste if you'd like).
So,um, I'm confused. Majorly...Like, it's their, but not thier or like, ninja vanish, or what?

Instead of in C\\program files\\Dragon Age I found mine in
C\\Documents and settings\\username\\My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age

There's no need to find it. The clipboard is where stuff you cut/copy lives until you decide to paste it.

Steps 2 and 3 dont exist in my DA folder. I have the steam versions on windows7. Anyone have any advice please?
I fixed it. I had to validated my game by right clicking on it on steam then all of the folders appeared in the correct places. Thank you.

I have the same problem, but this solution doesn't work. Addins.xml already has the exact content that I'm supposed to copy there. Any other suggestion? I bought my copy of both DAO and Awakening in store.

This is what's in my Manifest.xml - no sign of <AddInItem I'm
supposed to use as a start and finish point. Where does that leave me?!

had a reply from EA - this isn't going to be a fun evening

manually uninstall Dragon Age: Origins, follow the steps below.

Backup the saved game data in Windows XP:

   1. Click on the Start button and select My Documents.
   2. Open the BioWare folder.
   3. Open the Dragon Age folder.
   4. Right-click on the Characters folder and select Cut.
   5. Right-click on your Desktop and select Paste.
   6. To restore your Dragon Age saved game files, move the folder mentioned above back into the Dragon Age folder.

Backup the save data in Windows Vista/Windows 7:

   1. Click on the Start button and select Documents

Delete the game files (in the default location):

   1. Click on the Start button and select Computer.
   2. Double-click on the Local Disk (C:) drive folder.
   3. Open the Program Files folder.
   4. Right-click on the Dragon Age folder and select Delete.

(Warning: Changes to the registry can cause your computer to operate improperly, so please follow these instructions exactly as they are written.)

Backing up the registry:

Perform the steps listed below to back-up your system's registry. This step is important in case something goes wrong in the process of editing your registry. The back-up you create below will allow you to restore your registry.

   1. Click the Start button (Windows button on Windows Vista) on the Windows Taskbar.
   2. Click Run.
   3. Type regedit into the available text field, and click OK.
   4.
          * If you are using Windows 2000/XP/Vista, click File, and select Export.
          * If you are using Windows 95/98/ME, click Registry, then select Export Registry.
   5. Select All under Export Range.
   6. Title the file 'backup' and click on Save.

Delete the registry keys:

   1. Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
   2. Expand the SOFTWARE folder.
   3. Expand the BioWare folder.
   4. Right-click on the Dragon Age folder and select Delete.
   5. Collapse the BioWare folder.
   6. Expand the Electronic Arts folder.
   7. If there is a second Electronic Arts folder, expand that as well.
   8. Right-click on the Dragon Age folder and select Delete.
   9. Collapse the Electronic Arts folder.
  10. Collapse the second Electronic Arts folder, if present.
  11. Expand the Microsoft folder.
  12. Expand the Windows folder.
  13. Expand the CurrentVersion folder.
  14. Expand the Uninstall folder.
  15. Delete the following folder if it appears:
      AEC81925-9C76-4707-84A9-40696C613ED3

Delete the uninstall files:

   1. Click on the Start button and select My Computer / Computer
   2. Select the Local Disk (C:) drive folder
   3. Select the Program Files folder
   4. Select Tools, then Folder Options, then View, then select "Show hidden files and folders"
   5. Select the InstallShield Installation Information folder
   6. Delete the following folder if it appears:
      AEC81925-9C76-4707-84A9-40696C613ED3

Dragon Age: Origins should now be completely removed from your system.

Sounds like a real chore.

First time I edited the manifest.xml file, I did something wrong somewhere. It didn't work. Next time I opened it, the text was about the length of what you found in your document.

Do you have any DLC? I'm not very tech minded, but manifest.xml has something to do with DLC as well. So when I didn't find the right text in it, I removed (I can post the procedure if you want) and redownloaded all my DLC and then the manifest.xml file in My Documents was back to normal. Weird.
