Doubtful SyFy would have the budget for him so I was going for a cheap look alike.

Actually, I was just joking. I agree with the people who said Mark Vanderloo w/ Mark Meer Voiceover. Although that is a good point. Oh, and it should be Charlie Sheen instead of Martin Sheen. (His wife forgave him or something as well).

Lets leave SyFy out of the equation all together.   Mass Effect is a M rated game.  Not saying we need vulgarity but when Jack looses the ability to drop the F bomb it will actually take away something from the edgy nature of the character. Same with Aria in Omega.  The recent SyFy mini-series they've done like TinMan and Alice were awful.  A cabel channel such as HBO, Cinemax, or Showtime would be a much better fit.

Wrex- Ving Raines

Dr. Chakwas - Glen Close

Joker- Duh! Seth Green

Male Shepard- Jim Caviezel, Matt Fox, Chris Evans (Johnny Storm F4 movie) or Mark Meer (better start workin out my brotha)

Ashley- Erica Cerra (that Chick from Erureka) or Trish Stratus (She'll Kick your "A")

Liara- Chloe Armstrong (SGU)

David Anderson- Lawrence Fishburn

Matriarch Benezia- Marina Sirtis (Star Trek NG) or Kate Mulgrew

Tali- Liz Sroka (the actual voice actress of Tali)

If there's ever a Mass Effect film (hopefully there won't be) and I was tasked with assembling a standard Hollywood cast, it would consist of:

Commander Shepard - Jodie Foster
Let's face it, Shepard is automatically a far more interesting character if female.
Not only because of the socio-normative expectations, but because there's only really one precedent in the sci-fi genre; Sigourney Weaver's Ripley.
Jodie Foster is not only a commanding screen presence, but in my opinion one of the most capable film actors of the last 50 years. She would make an excellent protagonist.
PHOTO

David Anderson - Keith David (duh)
The man is a brilliant actor, with an equally amazing vocal authority.
A perfect choice.
PHOTO

Jeff "Joker" Moreau - Justin Theroux
I know I'm asking for trouble by saying this, but I think Seth Green is rather grating, with the exception of his work on Robot Chicken.
Theroux would be my replacement.
PHOTO

Ashley Williams - Asia Argento
While she has done her fair share of awful films, there's an inexplicable charisma to her.
My preliminary pick, although I must say I found this the hardest part to cast.
PHOTO

Kaidan Alenko - Henry Rollins
Alenko was so thoroughly devoid of interesting personal attributes that some contrasting casting is necessary.
Rollins would likely provide the 'oomph' necessary.
PHOTO

Garrus Vakarian - Brandon Keener (naturally)
Due to the alien physique of the turians, there's probably be up to some skilled puppeteering and other visual tricks to do Garrus justice.
Keener works perfectly fine in the games, so why not in the film?

Tali'Zorah nar Rayya - Liz Sroka (given)
Granted, I am unaware of how talented a physical actor Sroka is, but judging by her vocal work there would be enough gravitas to hold the part.

Liara T'Soni - Naomi Watts
One of the great sympathetic faces of modern cinema. And has proven in films such as Mulholland Drive and Funny Games that she can play vulnerable yet headstrong characters.
PHOTO

Urdnot Wrex - Ron Perlman
C'mon, what can you NOT cast Perlman as?
Easily one of the most versatile actors of the past thirty years; from The City of Lost Children to Hellboy a consistently great performer.

Doctor Chakwas - Helen Mirren
Enough said.
PHOTO

Donnel Udina - Robert Picardo
Simple. Nobody plays agitated beaurocrats like Picardo.
PHOTO

Saren Arterius - David Morrissey
A class act, and a class actor.

Matriarch Benezia - Ellen Barkin
Shares some features with Watts, and a fine thespian in her own right.
And even though she also shares Benezias more...err...'buoyant' attributes, I'd make sure there was no improbable cleavage on display. She deserves better.
PHOTO

------------MASS EFFECT 2------------

"The Illusive Man" - Tilda Swinton
I know it's an inherent contradiction, but bear with me.
In my opinion, TIM was neither intriguing nor enigmatic in the way ME2 presented him.
I would've preferred something more ambiguous; an utterly androgynous presence whose very appearance was a riddle in itself.
Swinton is a brilliant actor, and would make the part sing with nuance.
PHOTO

Jacob Taylor - Isaach De Bankolé
One of my favourite actors, and would likely infuse the otherwise terminally dull Jacob with plenty of edge and sex appeal.
PHOTO

Miranda Lawson - Selma Blair
Give her a proper costume and Blair would shine.
- But honestly, give her some real clothes.
PHOTO

Jack/Subject Zero - Rebecca Romijn
Watch Brian de Palma's "Femme Fatale".
You'll see.
PHOTO

Samara - Michelle Pfeiffer
I always though Samara had some of that classic golden age Hollywood to her.
You know, apart from the plunging neckline.
Pfeiffer is arguably one of the most talented performers in american motion pictures, and she definitely has a bearing worthy of the part.
PHOTO

Thane Krios - Jason Isaacs
One of my favourite choices. Isaacs would be perfect in the role.
PHOTO

Grunt - Steve Blum
Not a very interesting part to play, but Blum made an admirable effort in the game, so there you have it.

Mordin Solus - Michael Beattie
Nigh flawless in the game. No substitute necessary.

Legion - D.C. Douglas
Meh. It works.

Zaeed Massani - Bruce Campbell
"Groovay".
PHOTO

Kelly Chambers - Winona Ryder
I've always had a soft spot for Ryder. And I can definitely see her as the kind, affectionate yeoman.
PHOTO

EDI - David Bowie
Yes, yes it's another little gender game of mine.
So sue me. Subversive approach > conservative approach.

Morinth - Laura Harring
Unless we just had Pfeiffer reprise the role as her daughter with some superficial changes in the make-up, Harring would lend the part a fittingly eerie quality.
PHOTO

It's obvious you put a lot of thought into these, but honestly...some of them are just god awful.

also switching genders on roles just because you can, doesn't always mean it's a good idea. sorry if I'm being a ******. :innocent:

Also, the best way to do it would be a CGI show. Cheaper, and would likely be of much higher quality.

I agree with you on this, there are not enough mature cgi movies. Pix-czar (and similar companies) floods the market with such slop for the proletariat children of the western world that people don't think of cgi as more than kiddy fare. I'd love to see more cgi movies, then most of the actors in Hollywood might have to acquire more talent than the cost of a lip injection to land a role.

If Mass Effect was made into a feature movie, it would best be made as a cgi one, I feel. This would partly fail also due to the fact that Bioware basicly tried to make the game feel cinematic and play out kind of as an interactive movie. As such, playing the game feels like a movie...so making a movie of a game that feels like a movie is basicly just taking the interactive fun part out of the experience, creating something less and more condensed than the original. Same story with a book, but there's even less of a gap so making a movie would become even more trivial since the designs and look of the game are already set.

That said, you'd then have people who loved the games complain about the look being different and Shepard looking nothing like Shepard. Or Shepard not looking like "my Shepard" since customizing the hero is a big factor to the game's selling point.

Finally, Hollywood is all about the nonsensical marketing ploys of their movies and I wouldn't put it past some executive out there to do a remake of the game either for the movie release...which humorously could be called "Mass Effect: The Movie: The Game."

The film industry at large should be treated like an accident proned and deranged family member. Love it because sometimes it can suprise you but...don't give it anything nice or expect that nice thing to be destroyed.

But anyways, making it cgi would help at least capture the look of the movie without the costumes looking fake or the cgi special effects not matching the real actors. Voice overs with cgi would be the best solution if they had to make a movie. Image IPB

It's fine if you disagree. But a motivation more elaborate than "god-awful" would be preferable.
- Also, technically I only switched genders once. With TIM.
And even then my option would be an actor who's famous for her androgynous qualities, so it's a gray area at best.

Sheppard: Nah, Sheppi would be much better displayed by Kevin Spacy . Did you even play the game(?), Sheppard acts completely different .... oh, wait, forget what I said, cause I have forgotten why RPGs are so great^^
Wrex: Yippi, Cmd. Worf with Jedi Powers, a Shotgun and 4 Balls
Jack: Gigi Edgley (you missed that one, I know she doesn't fit the look very well, but I would love to see her amazing control over her body language performing here)

For the reapers, Chuck Norris. Science fiction part would be to see shephard defeat chuck norris

There goes your suspension of disbelief.

Only Zaeed (perhaps played by Ray Winstone) could possibly take down Chuck Norris.

Zaeed:  "Where's yer tool?"

Reaper: "What tool?"

Zaeed:  "This f****** tool!"

Zaeed proceeds to beat the crap out of the Reaper, although Chuck Norris puts up an epic struggle.

I like the idea of a mini-series prequel or after the events of the current ME story line. Get Peter Jackson to produce and the director of District 9 to direct it. District 9 is a fantastic movie with great CGI.

I am pretty stoked to see the Prince of Persia movie. Hope it won't be like Pirates 2 & 3. But those were only bad as a sequel to the first Pirates IMO.

I have to say that if an ME movie has to happen, then I think this is a pretty excellent job of casting.

I was originally thinking of Cate Blanchett as Shepard... but, on second thought, she may be a little bit too ethereal. I'd probably swap Selma Blair over to playing Jack and give Strahovski the Miranda gig. Other than that I'd have to say that Argento, Rollins, Swinton and Isaacs are particularly inspired choices.

Could Bruce Campbell do a English accent, though?
