This sounds like what can go wrong when it's required that a PC activate plot trigger 1 (run into Velanna), plot trigger 2 (find survivor), plot trigger 3 (run into Velanna again) and then plot trigger 4 (find her in camp), but the map is open enough that they hit them in the wrong order. And I'm betting the scripts can't deal with it properly.
Lesson in game design folks: if it's necessary for plot triggers to be activated in a certain order, make it impossible for the PC to encounter them in the wrong order (or figure out how to make sure the scripts handle it right). Wending Woods map obviously in some situations doesn't.
This bug I'd rank up with the mines in terms of "gamebreakiness". If they want to prioritize what to fix first (and I've never run into it but I'm starting to see how others could).
Lesson in forum posting folks: Don't try to act like you know what you're talking about when you don't.
