I enjoy military shooter sims, but I find most to be very hard and
unforgiving. I'm not much of a shot with a 360 controller and I don't
like doing things over and over again, which I have to do if there's no
quicksave, which there never is in these games.
I recently
attempted Operation Flashpoint 2 but couldn't get past the second
mission. The chopper kept killing me, and the one time I got past it my
own choppers attacked way before I'd taken out all the AAA and I lost
the mission.
I also tried Advanced Warfighter but I'd literally
get killed every couple of minutes.
I played Battlefield Bad
Company 2 and enjoyed that but I'd like a more serious military sim
rather than a casual shooter.
So I was wondering if anyone had
played anything like that. Something that I can have fun being a soldier
and doing missions but without the frustration of dying every two
minutes and having to play the same battles over and over.
Many
thanks.
360 for a newish game, but PCs ok for an older one.
Less unforgiving military shooter sims?

The first problem is that any 'military sim' as opposed to a 'lol spray n00b' game is by it's very nature going to be difficult.
The second problem is that you are trying to pay a military sim on a 360, which has imprecise and clunky contros cmpared to a PC. All FPS games for consoles have 'aiming help' because of the nature of the controls...and aiming properly is a major part of a military sim.
I'm not really sure what you are looking for...a military sim that isn't a military sim? Try some of the earlier COD or MOH games for PC maybe?

I love the original Operation Flashpoint, but if you found OF2 difficult, OF1 is probably going to show you exactly how bad life can get.

The original "Ghost Recon" for ps2 was a great sim shooter. Sure its old but even with all the military games out nowadays, sim shooter or not, it is still the best FPS shooter I have ever played...
I heard the new GR is going back to this type of gameplay and away from all that Advanced Warfighter garbage. I am not a fan of those titles at all.

Thanks, that's a huge help mate. I'm so glad forums are filled with people like you just waiting to point out people's mistakes.
Do you get paid for it, is that it? Or do you just literally have nothing better to do?

Operation Flashpoint 2 is very dumbed down, I wouldn't consider it a sim.
Hell, it doesn't even have mouse look when driving vehicles, Arma II is much better, albeit buggy as hell.

play halo. although it isnt a military sim you still have guns and can still go john rambo without easily dying, especially on normal difficulty or lower.
