So which is the most overrated game you have ever played? Like you keep hearing people preach about how good that game is only for you to play the game then go "oh.. ok".
For me it was FFVII and MW2.
Most overrated video game ever.

Mass Effect 2. Okay, it's a decent game, but the praise it gets can be excessive.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
Everyone said it was among the greatest games ever made, i had to buy it!
And... i know it's personal opinion, but to me, Oblivion is so... boring. Almost to the point of being sleepy. -.-

It just didn't seem that great to me.
I played it, was mildly amused for about 2 hours, and then I started playing Morrowind again.

Arent there already a few threads based on the subject or have they gotten old and mouldy and there was the need for a new thread to be made on the subject?
Anyways my vote for most overrated goes to Mass Effect, the only thing that saved this game from being a flop was its story and characters and even they werent as good as what we have seen in past Bioware titles. When it comes down to it Mass Effect has to be the worst game Bioware has released so far.

But the 4 deserves the greatness.. except Lost and Dammed... I didn't like that one. And that was the one they recommended (more than Ballad of Gay Tony which was comical and colerful!)Celrath wrote...

Halo (whichever) I didn't like them and don't get the point. I played the 2 and 3 and honestly it seemed so concentrated in a linear face pal all the way

I have to agree with Drathan here although I think a bit more explanation is needed, Bioshock was an interesting concept but the execution was poor, combat was horrible and although they did manage to get the environments looking pretty good the actual characters themselves looked awful (not awful as in ugly and mutated (well they were ugly and mutated but that was kind of the point) but awful as in they looked a bit too cartoonish). When it comes down to it the game was pretty much running backwards and forwards between areas on boring fetch quests dispatching the splicers that randomly appear in your path.
Also I am assuming that the game was supposed to have a bit of a spooky and scary atmosphere? If it did it totally failed in that regard, apart from a few instances where you might have a Splicer jump out of a toilet cubicle (although even these arent scary as anyone with any sense would be expecting such a thing) the game really isnt very scary, the mindless gibbering of the splicers is not spooky and only serves the purpose of giving you a heads up that they are there.
That is why I think the game is overrated but I take it from your post that you actually liked it? I am curious to know what you and everyone else who liked Bioshock see in the game, sometimes we are too focused on the negative that we cannot see the positive and perhaps you can illuminate the positives of the game that I failed to see (of course this is all a matter of opinion so there is no such thing as a right or wrong answer).

Halo (entire series) and Final Fantasy 6. Yes. 6. Not 7. I did not hit 6 by mistake.

Bioshock. Everybody says the story is so amazing but i just didn't feel it, aside from that big opening it didn't really suck me in and i found the whole plot to be somewhat boring. The only interesting part of part of the story was the audio logs but they didn't make me wanna see the game through to it's end.

This one would argue that the whole Final Fantasy series is overrated.
