Because FemShep is every bit the main character ManShep is.
So they paid Vanderloo for his likeness (for reasons known only to the Illuminati and a guy called Kevin). So what? When did I say they should NOT use him? Personally I dislike the face but whatever, if they want to use him they can use him.
How does that exclude at least giving FemShep and Hale some of the limelight?

Because if they are going to advertise, may as well use the model they paid money for? There's also the less important issue - that Bioware even stated - or consistency.

Again, giving FemShep a bit of the spotlight doesn't prevent them from using the model they paid for.
There were previews with FemShep for ME1 you know.

Eh it's common knowledge that Saren was crazy and talking about the end of civilisation.
Hell, that Citadel movie ad on the.. um.. Citadel has one of Saren's lines word for word ("Is surrender not preferable to extinction?".

as for Femshep....I am not saying you are wrong in your desires...I agree with you but face it it's as likely to happen as the american school system is likely to revert to a a classical european influenced system.....

Maybe, maybe not. But I won't stop trying damnit. If people keep raising this issue maybe someone at BioWare will yell at the marketing department enough to fix this for ME3.

I would've liked them to release a screenie showing off femshep's new threads. Is that too much to ask?

Never. BioWare's marketing department have their heads up their collective rear ends. FemShep deserves as much media hype as Sheploo gets. Or at least something. Anything.

Why does it matter? You already know you can play as femshep. Vanderloo was paid by Bioware for his likeness. Shouldn't they use their investment? I honestly don't care who is advertised, but I don't see why femshep would deserve it (fictional character?)

As much as I agree w/ you, it all boils down to consistency. Vanderloo is the face of ME, a recognizable brand, just like the logo.  Besides, if femShep started appearing in trailers people might complain or get confused, but more to the point “suits” will think people might complain or get confused.<_<

That may be the intention, but BioWare need to recognise that to a lot of players, Sheploo is just... some guy.
You could say he's... not my Shepard!

Image IPB

Er yes, anyway. He's not everyone's Shepard, and a lot of new players who might not know there's a character creator since they mention it so little might assume this is like one of those eastern european RPGs where the devs think everybody wants to play as the same 30 something dark haired white male.
It's a disservice to the game, and a disservice to all custom FemSheps and ManSheps out there.

Again, they can give Sheploo the limelight if they want to for "consistency" or whatever, but give the rest of us *something*.

I get confused when I see trailers with him in :pinched:.

Who's that guy? What did he do with Shepard?!?

Why is this even such a big deal? The game is getting pretty good sales so there's no worry about new players. Also I'm pretty sure all of them will stumble upon the fact that there's a character creator at one point or another anyway.
You're looking too far into this. Bioware is doing just fine with trailers imho.
And man I hate Kasumi's voice.

@angry: You've certainly got a point. Although I probably don't think it wise not to use Vanderloo in TV ads and stuff considering the investment. Best to have some femshep stuff on the site where people can find out you can choose the gender of Shepard anway.

eh...you do not know how they spun it and contextualized it in the movie...the bottom line tho is that he lead the boldest and most successful attack to the council ever....and in some continuities he even succeeded at killing the council...that's gotta be worth of glory in the field of villany...

and I commend your commitment and stubborness....and your FemShepard's eerie hawtness

I agree, but I think part of the reason they're stuck with Dutchass is that the default FemShep they made was arguably even worse, and perhaps if they are to feature FemsShep, they'll have to use the default?

I demand that in every peace of ME videos on the whole internet, replace ALL pictures of Shepard with black box with with text saying "This block represents the main character. Due to political correctness we are unable to show the figure of said character because what ever we do some one is always offended."

BW has said that they consider Shepard to be John Shepard with the face of Vanderloo. He is the face of the franchise. At christmas, we see pictures of Santaclause, not his wife. Same thing with ME adds and promo videos.

Crying about female Shepard adds is bull **** like all the PC talk we have today.

My word but you are a fool, I don't even need to respond to that.
You might have a point with the Santa thing if we were talking about Shepard's wife, and not.. you know.. Shepard.
Ugh, kids.

Why is it that everytime some kind of trailer or some bit of advertising comes out that the thread turns into a gigantic PC argument about why BioWare doesn't use FemShep? I can see the argument of why they don't include an image of say the outfit or something like that because obviously it is going to be different.. But in regards to just general advertising it doesn't seem that important.

Me, all I want is some acknowledgement of FemShep. A few previews would be nice.

Hell a few screenshots on the official site would be nice. The issue here is we have nothing, and some people get all in a twist over people like me asking for.. you know.. ANYTHING.

In general, I don't really care.

I just want to know what my femshep's fancy clothes are gonna look like :P

OK yea well that I can understand and I agree that they should show what the new outfit will look like for FemShep.. In some of your prior posts it just seemed like you were one of those people who want FemShep blazoned on the cover of the game and used to advertise the game everywhere..

I mean of the newer stuff, like the new outfit.
Yeah I know it'll just be the female version of the silly retextured tux but I want to laugh at it now.

Calling me a child. Nice one. I used to use that line also, about 20 year ago...

But crying about the adds not having fem Shepard in them is quite stupid. Male Shepard is and has been the face of the series. Hell BW paid the model to BE the face of Mass Effect. And now you are crying about BW using the model the way they ment him to be used? Demanding fem Shepard, black Shepard, what-ever Shepard videos is just childish. BW could just use a black box, as I suggested, instead of Shepard so no one gets offended.

And about the DLC. It looks OK. The cloaced melee assault looks nice, but I think Kasumi will be dead most of times after the first attack. One extra character, one gun and 90 min gametime should not cost much though.

I call people children when they act like them. I simply ask for a little attention to the other Sheps, and you rant on and on about irrelevant things, that is what makes you a child.

Damn! You got me there, having box of any color would offend some one. Having one with all colors would offend some one. And ofcourse some would be offended by the square box and they would want to see a circle. This is a vicious circle indeed.
