I mean seriously their are a few things an expansion could do for the game and it would give the devs some time to cook up some other things. I think an expansion worked out pretty well with DA:O and I'm glad to say I've enjoy it so far.

What an expansion for Mass Effect 2 could do for the game.

For the Liara fans:
It could give you a chance to go and learn more about what happend with her and the shadow broker and you might even be able to play a could of mission which would actually show some memories of her getting your body back for you. This would also give us a better understand of why her personality changed during the two years.

For Ashley and Kaiden fans:
This would give you an opportunity to maybe get a few more missions in with Ashley and Kaiden before ME 3. This would also give you a chance maybe to help build from the email. Then later on you would meet up with them in ME 3, this though would be optional for the devs.

For the Thane Fans:
This would give you a chance to go after and maybe cure him. This would probably make a great mission and you could get a chance to maybe learn more about the drell as a whole and the people. It would be similar to going on board Tali's ship.  Only you could go to the hanar home world and get maybe get a chance to see Thane's wives grave were he could talk about her more. This would also had depth to the story more and make all the Thane fan girls go gaga!

For Tali fans:
You could learn more about her people. Woohoo. Plus I think they should add it so we can go back to the Migrant fleet one more time and have a little fun. I loved being on their ships and just talking with the quarians as well. Plus we could get a glimpse of the decisions you made during ME 2 and see the impact of what happend. We could even get a mission if Tali was exiled to get her back in the Fleet or even get a new crew member.  Say Vee'tor or Kal'Reegar.

For the Legion fanS:
This would give us a chance to learn even more about the geth and we could definitely go and maybe meet some other of their kind not just legion. This could also include Tali. She could maybe learn more about the geth and the geth learn even more about there masters. It might even get Tali to lighten up about the Geth.

For Jack Fans:
This would be a another blow something up mission. I mean who didn't love going to the base and watching it go boom. It could be that jack realized that one of the scientist who did experiments on her is still alive and still doing more experiments. This would give her a reason to go A-wall crazy which we love about her.

For Grunt fans:
This would give us a chance to return to Tuchunka  and maybe get involved with Wrex personally. Sense all the wrex fans I think wouldn't mind doing another mission with him again and it might even give the Devs some more things to do to flush out his character more. Than killing things. Image IPB

For Garrus fans:
Killing his ex-partner wasn't enough. I think Garrus should return to Omega and you go with him and hes got a chip on his should about something to do with one of the gangs on omega again. It would be awesome if Aria found out he was Archangel. This would give him something to worry about and it would bring shepard back into the mix to help save his buddy. Plus keep Garrus from destroying himself which we all love doing.

For Sumara fans:
One of her other daughters finds out she killed Mornith and creates a band of merc to come after her. She asks for shepards help again to take down another one of her daughters. This would added some serious emotional trauma and set a story for the next game. Plus it would break her down enough that she might fall prey for a set up romance could happen in ME 3 for her.

For Jacob fans:
This would have to be about a secret he has. Something about him has been has been told and you get to find out more about his character or even the fact his father got loose from prison and he decided he wants to talk to his son again. I'll leave this one open sense it doesn't really seem jacob had a lot going on.

For Miranda fans:
Her father is pizzed about loosing more money because of shepard and his daughter and he will stop at nothing to get involved. This would give us an opportunity to learn maybe more about her father and maybe actually have a confrontation with him. I think this would also give us another chance to get another corky love scene with her.

For Mordin fans:
This could be a mission were he hears information about the genophage. He finds out maybe someone else from his old team is trying to create a cure as well. You would have to decide what would be the most important way of handling it. Also it could give you a reason to maybe hear him sing some more. Image IPB

The expansions could also give us some more dialogue options with Anderson and we could meet the human council members. What the expansions could also do is take some of the decision from ME 1 we didn't get to fully see in ME 2 and just add them so we don't have to worry about the stupid emails. I think a few expansion on the ME 2 universe would be awesome, but that is just my opinion. I would love to hear everyone else options on these matters.

Yes.

I don't mean to invalidate the list you just posted, but:

The expansion would be a segway from ME2 into ME3, which is the main Reaper plot. You would use the characters that survived the mission to complete more missions that lead up to the introduction of the Reapers.

Mass Effect is too large a trilogy to release character-focused expansion packs like Dragon Age: Origins. Only characters that have direct connections to the Reapers (Legion, for example) would be involved in side missions or side quests.

An expansion would be a good idea to help bridge the gap between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. However, not knowing how they are going to deal with the possibility of possible squad deaths, it's hard to say what they CAN do other than have a new team like Awakening.

Also, that might mean they'll have to account for MORE in a transfer to ME3 which might make them a little reluctant to make an expansion.

Personally I'd love to see an expansion and explore members of the team more. Then again, I just might be in favor of anything that means more Mass Effect content, heh...

No. Not more reused models and character creator generated characters. That was one mistake of the rushed DLC expansion known as Dragon Age: Awakening.

The game forces you to survive with two squadmates (or die with less) for a reason. If they're going to add new characters in the expansion, they would better be original, and we should expect Mass Effect 3 to skip squadmate recruitment almost entirely.

No, I think I would rather move on to ME3 than have to buy the other half of the main story from ME2.

I suppose it would depend on the length of an expansion and whether BW wanted to commit the resources to account for who lived during the Suicide Mission but then they might be better off just focusing on ME3.
I do agree that recruitment of squadmates should be kept to a minimum during ME3, adding any new squadmates for an expansion might add... complications. The roster of bros, LIs, and character support threads is already obscene...

Creating an expansion for ME2 would be a difficult task. The writers would already have to have a clear conception of the plot in ME3 to avoid the ME2 expansion from encroaching on ME3 plot development.

That having been said, I wouldn't mind an expansion that develops the characters more without delving in to the Reaper threat (too much).

"According to Cho, some of the core development team has already moved on
to creating DLC for the game, which could range from new items,
including weapons and armor, to side quests that might even build "up to
full expansion packs."

They probably already have ME3 written out already. You have to admit, Shepard did not spend much time on the Collectors or the Reapers in this sequel, but characters instead.

If there is an expansion, its events should be after the defeat of the collectors - or else it would be just another DLC. No more crew missions, ME2 has plenty of that. The events in the expansion should extend the reaper storyline and answer some of the questions that linger after ME2. More missions that are specific to my team mates would be unwelcome, and something I would not purchase.

While I don't see a full fledged expansion being very possible for ME2 at least if it's suppose to take place after the final mission cause of the fact that characters can die in the final mission. I think more dlc add-on mission's like the Firewalker pack and such work fine. As for some of your idea's I think they could easily be part of ME3 and leading up to the final confrontation with the Reapers.

I'd like to see some more side missions.. Basically what you mentioned sounds a lot like the Romance Pack which has been talked about quite a bit on here.. The guys at BioWare have actually already considered doing a kind of Romance Pack which I think would be pretty damn cool. I don't think they should try and bridge the two games with an expansion pack however. I'd rather just get all that in ME3.. For now I'll be content with all the DLC they are launching for the game..

Casey Hudson said they will do an expansion close to the release of ME3. So its not a matter of should ME2 have an expansion, but when it will have an expansion. When ME3's release date starts to come close, we'll get it.

The only expansion I would want is more dialogue and banter during existing missions and on board the Normandy. Get to know your crew better, and have them develop friendships and rivalries amongst themselves.

Adding more plot points would be a bad thing and hard to rectify in ME3.

Its pretty much a given we are getting an expansion. For story reasons and more so because EA loves the idea of DLC and expansions.

Yes to expansion, hopefully a resolution to the geth/quarian conflict. That is a major plot point and would be strategically significant. Possibly with side quests for the other characters.
