I'm going to say no. It would have to have 10+ hours of solid content that stands alone from ME2(those of us on 360 don't get to install the game, afterall), in order to even be considered by my wallet. And that's solid content, not a collection of crap-ass sidequests or stand-alone missions.

The only way ME2 expansions would work would be if they dealt with the main plot or a rather large side plot, unrelated to squadmates.

Bioware's probably going to stick to hitting us with "little bug bites".

As in, they'll give us MANY little things, but not one BIG thing.

Although, I would really love it if they came up with a captivating side story.

Maybe something related to the books. Indirectly, of course.

Casey Hudson said before ME2 even came out that they plan to have an expansion that bridges ME2's events to ME3's beginning once they get pretty far along in ME3's development. In addition, Drew Karpyshyn's book, Retribution, takes place after ME2 so there's some bridging there as well.

My guess would be that Shepard gets set up or betrayed right after you and your team make a huge breakthrough in the coming Reaper fight.

I don't want character specific-glorified loyalty quests which we'll no doubt have to pay for.

I want something that adds tension or depth to the main story. Nothing less.

Betrayed by who?  Joker?  EDI?  Those are the only two guaranteed to be alive if Shepard still is.  Technically a paragon that fails(my latest playthrough, poor Abigale Shepard, such an emotional wreck now) could have only those two, herself, plus two random squadmates alive, and currently not a part of Cerberus anymore.  Who would betray her then?  Anderson?

No expansions in my opinion, I think Bioware should spend all the time they can to make Mass Effect 3 as perfect as they can, so perfect that even if I die the eve I finished the game, I would feel contempt with my life.

it's only about two months since it's been released. there will be many DLC coming soon. of course, more missions, new characters. as we know, Bioware already made a plan to release new stuff coming March 23rd, and April 6th. so I think that ME2 will be expanded very well. about two years before ME3, I expect lots of stuff.

Adding more plot points would be a bad thing and hard to rectify in ME3.

How?

Because I don't want to have to buy ME 2.5 to understand ME3.

We don't work for him anymore.  You can't be betrayed by someone you aren't trusting.  I mean.. I suppose a Renegade working for him could be... but I don't see why TIM would at that point, ReneShep has been a good, loyal stooge then.

A paragon couldn't be betrayed by him.  Attacked by him maybe, but not betrayed.

The expansion would actually flush out the things from ME 1 and ME 2 which we didn't get to fully realize and understand. I'm not saying a bridge to ME 2 to ME 3. I mean it they do that I think it would be fine, but I'm talking maybe even a prequel expansion. It would basically give us a point to maybe go back a bit and see what led up to shepard dieing instead of me have to go and read some dumb comic book. I think this would be also cool. If they wanted they could even put the comic book in the expansion to make it to people who didn't read it and learn more about liara. ME 2 is based off characters stories more than. The main story of the reapers invasion. The expansion would improve upon these elements of the characters, but not with romance. The romance pack would have to be separate. I'm talking as the characters development wise. We get to learn more about them and explore more of the games we didn't really get to see. I know the DLC is coming, but the expansion would just heighten the experience plus give us some great answers to a lot of the questions we didn't have from ME 1 and ME 2. It would have not interference with the main story. This would be more for other side quests.

Example.

Depending if you saved the Corperal Tombs in the ME 1. He finds out you are working from cerberus in ME 2. Well in an expansion we could rap this up intend of bioware having to it in ME 3. They could concentrate more on the main story and your LI flings. I just saying the expansion would just fill in holes and thats all it would have to do. This giving bioware a better opportunity to work on just the main story and plot for ME 3.

As for the romance pack I already put in my support for it on the other thread a couple of times, but no it should not be made as an expansion. Just keep it as a DLC. Like I've said the expansion would just fill hole nothing more, nothing less.

I'm curious about any expansions BW would release for ME2. Consider how they are going to make story elements carry over into ME3 if some players don't bother with the expansion at all. All the choices in the expansion would have to be nearly inconsequential so that ME2 transitions smoothly into ME3 without disconnecting players who didn't purchase the expac.

This is why I say it would be a good idea for side quests only. It wouldn't really have a major effect on the story. Image IPB

They wouldn't be wasting time. There are separate teams for working on the third game and working on DLC/Expansion Packs.

I remember watching an interview with Casey Hudson where he said there was a dedicated Mass Effect 2 DLC team.
Also if there was no DLC, would the level designers even have anything to do yet for ME3?

From everything I've read and seen, they're hard at work on ME3. They started working on it before ME2 even shipped. Level design work begins at the early stages of development for any game. I've seen it in tons of documentaries and such.

Yeah, I forgot who said it, could've been Casey, but we DO know there are separate teams.

That way, we can get tons of DLC and still have ME3 be focused on.

Plus I think the DLC team would also work on the Expansion as well, but I think what would also be good just to make the game of Mass effect 2 even better and its the most minor things I would ask for is if you would remove the helmet of the cerberus and other armors you download  in an expansion if they made one!

Only if it doesn't 'fix' things like Awakening claimed to. Having to interact with my party only via clicking junk around the world/levels? No thanks. In fact, if they go to put that in ME3, I don't care if Thane gets cured, becomes a triplet, or anything else, I wouldn't buy it. That is the most asinine system of interaction ever. It should be a supplement, but not a main conduit. Or do something equally annoying like leave us with just one person from before with the others given half-baked cameos, if anything.

If they don't go that idiot route, then yes, I would like to see one, whatever it may be. I enjoy ME2 immensely and the only good games left this year (imo only, of course) are far off. Like FFXIV. I need something to amuse me.

I think they need to take a look at our criticisms before they continue on.

All future armors released to the public better have helmet toggles.

I mean seriously their are a few things an expansion could do for the game and it would give the devs some time to cook up some other things. I think an expansion worked out pretty well with DA:O and I'm glad to say I've enjoy it so far.

What an expansion for Mass Effect 2 could do for the game.

For the Liara fans:
It could give you a chance to go and learn more about what happend with her and the shadow broker and you might even be able to play a could of mission which would actually show some memories of her getting your body back for you. This would also give us a better understand of why her personality changed during the two years.
Yes, that would be pretty awesome.  I like the idea of helping her save Feron, especially.

For Ashley and Kaiden fans:

This would give you an opportunity to maybe get a few more missions in with Ashley and Kaiden before ME 3. This would also give you a chance maybe to help build from the email. Then later on you would meet up with them in ME 3, this though would be optional for the devs.

Yes!  More Kaidan please!!
For the Thane Fans:
This would give you a chance to go after and maybe cure him. This would probably make a great mission and you could get a chance to maybe learn more about the drell as a whole and the people. It would be similar to going on board Tali's ship.  Only you could go to the hanar home world and get maybe get a chance to see Thane's wives grave were he could talk about her more. This would also had depth to the story more and make all the Thane fan girls go gaga!
.
And yes!  I can see it being harder to pull off the Liara and Kaidan expansions, by not getting the VA to come back, or taking too much plot away from ME3, but def. doable with Thane.  It doesn't make sense they would write a character specifically for the female gamers, just to have him die of a disease.  Lame.

But, the cure thing would be an excellent way to fix this, and give those particular Shepards a happy ending with Thane :)

As for Kaidan, getting more time with Shepard's tie to the Alliance could be a good bridge builder give us the chance to see Jump Zero, maybe even earth . . .

I'd put it more along the lines of being set up than betrayed. Working with Cerberus is political suicide; all TIM has to do is make it look like you're still with Cerberus and you'd be brought into custody.

Now what if he makes your inevitable return to the Citadel and work with the Council appear to be some kind of assassination attempt or some other devious plot? Use one of his 150 agents to plant evidence?

As far as why he'd do it, it's simple. He wants more power to carry out his purposes and you're the closest associate he has to a threat to stop that.
