Seriously people this expansion is ownage. I have played through it twice with my Hero of Ferelden, choosing different paths. Honeslty i find the game to be extremely fun and a great add-on to the original. The bosses in the game are creative and quite horrifying =p. The difficulty of the game may not be very high but....your warden is a seasoned veteran. What do you expect? He obviously cannot be succumbed by puny forces of evil. The new skills put your Warden on a whole new level of godliness. The new companions are excellent and I find them to be much more fun to play with than the originals. except morrigan of course. although the new elven mage reminds me of morrigan for some reason, just on the opposite side of the evil spectrum hehehe.  All in all the awakening story is great, i thoroughly enjoyed it. The gameplay is fun, and the boss encounters are better than origins, in my opinion.

on another note: to people complaining about their DLC items not transferring...are you kidding me? Items from origins and the origins DLC are TRASH compared to the high powered killing machine loot you get in awakening. You wouldn't use your old gear for more than 10 minutes. Also you get very rich very quick in awakening so happy pimping out your character with godly items. =).

!!LONG LIVE DRAGON AGE!!

I like Awakenings as well. For instance I love the way Oghren goes from being the comedic foil he is in Origins, to being the most tragic character in Awakenings. Definetly did not see that one coming.

I personally was not a fan of Oghren in origins, but I loved him in awakening and used him throughout the entire game.

Had too many bugs to be called a masterpiece. Still a great game.

to many buugs its total crap lost equipment when inporting character also

Silverlite Mine Lost Gear bug warning!

I can't give this warning without minor spoilers. So be warned.

When you enter Silverlite Mine all your gear is taken away from you as a plot mechanic. You get your gear back by escaping prison and fighting 3 enemies to get 3 sets of gear back. The last set of gear (main player char) and the misc inventory items are supposed to reside in a chest right outside of the room where the final boss is.

If you imported your character from Origins there is a large possibility that the chest will be empty and you loose the 4th set and misc inventory items. Apparently it happens because of some DLC items from the Origins campaign. Which ones is still unknown. But for the reference I had Wade's superior Medium armor and Helm Of Honoleth, not sure about the weapons and jewelry, but they get lost too.

So be sure to save your game just before you transition to SIlverlite Mine! The game will not do it for you!

My only solution was to take clothes off of every char and put it in the storage chest, along with all the items and go completely bare-assed to the Silverlite Mine. The fight is much more harder with the few items that you collect before the boss fight (even on easy) but at least you don't loose any items.

"the difficulty of the game may not be very high"

That is a huge understatement. I will need to go like 4 higher difficulty levels then this.

That is so true the rants are probably made by people who dont have the game so they dont know how good the items are (too good actually)

My only issue is very low difficulty - the game just wasn't balanced for skills like Time Spiral to be honest.

I dont see why so many people whining about it being buggy. I played through entire game twice, did side-quest and did not encounter 1 bug which affected my game play. Maybe you people just have bad luck or p.o.s computers. or you're playing on console which is a joke to begin with rofl.

A masterpiece won't have so many bugs that will even kill the gameplay.

I get that some people experience bugs. that's true in nearly every game. I am telling you, I experienced no bugs throughout my entire 2 playthroughs. You cannot say a game is crappy because of bugs just because a small portion of the play population experiences technical difficulties. that is a totally bull**** judgement.

You really have no idea what portion of the population is having technical difficulties. That is bull****.

Its great that you loved it. I, on the other hand, just liked it enough.

Origins is a masterpiece, Awakening is not.

The new companions are nothing compared to the old ones, as you don't have enough time to truly feel them. I connected with Leliana, Alistair, Zev and the rest. Not so with Awakening companions. The only one I somewhat felt connected to was Anders. Don't get me wrong, I liked the new companios but in the timeframe we are given and the new dialogue system, I didn't learn much about them. Even Oghren felt foreign.

Gameplay-wise it was more of Origins, which was good. I do not believe however, that only a SMALL portion of players experience the bugs. I had at least three noticeable bugs.

But what really keeps it from being a masterpiece is the small things. How hard would it be to keep those damn letters you get from Leliana or Zevran? Or to give you SOME reason why they (and Dog) are not with you. It is not that hard, is it? I didn't even care about the DLC, but for little things as such as letters being excluded, I see no excuse.

Most bugs are the result of mods that conflict with Awakening. With so many people using different mods, its hard for Bioware to sort out bugs caused by user error from bugs caused by their own programming/DLC.

I think people need to bare in mind that this was just an expansion, not a sequel. And compared to other expansions I've played in the past, this one was excellent, it almost DID feel like a mini-sequel, more than I expected. Maybe that was the problem in fact, people just wanted more instead of accepting it for what it was. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

If Awakening is a masterpiece, then what is the original game? A gift from God? The tedious rune crafting system alone prevent me from calling it a masterpiece, not to mention the difficulty and the numerous bugs. Also, continuity between DA:O and Awakening is much more poorly done than that of the ME series. For examples, where is the dog? where is your LI from DA:O? (except for Morrigan and Alistair of course) And what's up with the boon we asked for at the end of the Origin?

All in all, this is indeed a fun game, but fall, fall from being a masterpiece. It's not even a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. Please keep your fanboism at bay.

I stopped paying attention at about here.

Expansions must be more difficult than the original game. Basic law of game design.

So, is it me or is it extremely easy on nightmare? Does it become more difficult as you move through the plot?  It's nice to feel like a badass, but I hope there are some hairy battles.

Agreed, some of the areas lack attention to detail and seem unfinished imho (namely empty looking past transition points) and have angular facets in places, creating little pointy molehills.

Kudos to the cutscenes again, very nice camera work giving the feel you're watching a fantasy movie.

I'm enjoying myself so far! It is fun. It isn't the beauty of origins, it is more like fanservice. But hey, we like fanservice. It does feel like a mini sequel, even though it is just an expansion.
