It is a bit more then average, not a masterpiece. Origins was a masterpiece for me.
Awakening has some heavy bugs and flaws in story design which lower its quality.

Most bugs are the result of mods that conflict with Awakening. With so many people using different mods, its hard for Bioware to sort out bugs caused by user error from bugs caused by their own programming/DLC.

That is not true, there are a huge amount of bugs in the original and almost all of them carry over to the expansion. Since I play on a console I know for a fact that mods have nothing to do with them, perhaps some mods cause new bugs, but there are many bugs that have nothing to do with mods. The sad part is that nothing was done to fix these bugs before rushing out an expansion filled with the same bugs, I would've rather seen a small delay for proper QA testing, than have it rushed out with fixes "to come later".

For me DAO was like an epic movie and Awakening is like a TV mini series with a couple of returning characters and a few cameo appearances from the original movie cast......I'm enjoying Awakenings but it seems reduced when compared to Origins. Its a good solid game and if Awakening's had come out before Origins, I think it would be getting more praise......it just seems a step back to me mainly because its being compared to one of the best games in years.

It just seems rushed at times, even the very beginning throws you straight into action......starting at a Inn, meeting Mhari who's been sent to escort you would have better IMO, it would have allowed you to ask a few questions of the locals and eased you into the story rather than we arrive and CHARGE!!!! on another note: to people complaining about their DLC items not transferring...are you kidding me? Items from origins and the origins DLC are TRASH compared to the high powered killing machine loot you get in awakening. You wouldn't use your old gear for more than 10 minutes. Also you get very rich very quick in awakening so happy pimping out your character with godly items. =).

!!LONG LIVE DRAGON AGE!!

If you can point me to a suit of massive armour more suitable for an Arcane Warrior than what was available in Origins, then be my guest.

If not, stop goiing down the old 'oh but you get better stuff' route.

I had fun playing it except for 2 things: I started the game in my small clothes and fell through the floor during the fight where you meet Sigrun.

Well, I've played it twice and never XP any bugs... the only probs I had was 2 BSODs in the first play through. Seconed time was smooth. As with the Origins, I had to exit the game at around two hours of playing to keep the framerates playable... My biggest problem with the expansion is that it was too short... not enough of game time for the money spent on in. :(

Definatley a brilliant addition to the dragon age franchise, have been playing for two days non stop!

Can't wait to see how the story concludes, hopefully this will be the first of several expansions.

I haven't finished Awakening yet (taking my time on purpose) but so far I find it enjoyable. Not sure it feels as epic as Origins did though.

I think "masterpiece" is too strong a word... Don't get me wrong, I found it enjoyable enough and will most likely replay it, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a masterpiece. I haven't encountered any significant bugs but there were a few things I didn't like. The new conversation system for example. I absolutely hate it and  hope they go back to the old style in the sequel.

Another ridiculous thing was my character being ported over in her underwear. I know that BioWare announced DLC would not tranfer over to the expansion, but surely there could have been a better way to do this, maybe an automatic switch to some default clothing or something. Seriously.

Overall, the expansion felt rushed, the ending too abrupt, and the new characters aren't nearly as memorable as the original ones, although I did love Anders and wouldn't mind seeing him and his kitty again in the sequel. Nathaniel wasn't too bad either. The rest was forgettable.
This expansion is probably best played by using a brand new character instead of an import. Just my opinion anyway.

It was "OK". It's a bit overpriced, rushed, and buggy. I keep seeing people saying "keep in mind its just an expansion not a sequel" and while thats fine and understandable, it costs about as much as the original game does and should therefor be given at least 1/3 of the effort to produce, no?

I agree about the price. The game is too short even for and expansion pack. Heck The expansion pack for Oblivion Elder Scrolls Shivering Isles was a heck of alot longer.

One question.
How much dungeon crawling there is in Awakening? More or less than in DA:O?

Planescape: Torment was full of bugs and many feel it is the best RPG ever made (although it didn't sell well).

I've yet to play Awakening. I shall pick it up tomorrow (had it delivered to my parent's house and it cost me £14.97 pre-order) and even then, I have to finish a full playthrough for Origins.

Indeed and most people will buy those expansion as part of a GotY or Complete edition 2 or 3 years afterwards.  Plus most games would have been patched fully by then too.

It's good. Not great. I enjoyed it, but I do have a few nitpicks. But it is still good. The game itself is amazing, I love the new spells/talents. But the throne room conversations are a step down from the party camp in DA:O. I don't want to have to go back outside to talk to someone.

And Oghren? Really? I figure they had to pick a non-romance companion, but still. I would have much rather had Sten, or Shale, or even Dog.

The game was very good up until the final battle.

We really could have used 1 more main quest area that unlocked after getting all of the companions to help transition from the main game to the end game like we did with the Landsmeet in Origins.

Lastly, a real ending sequence would have been most welcome.
