I want to like Garrus, but he's a g.d. medipak sponge!!!! He was the same way in ME1, and no doubt will continue to be cannon fodder in ME3.

That scene at the end of his recruitment mission, when he gets riddled with bullets? That's just another day at work for good ol' Garrus.

Honestly, I hardly ever use him in my squads because he needs to travel with an IV hookup. He's such a pain to manage.

/vent off :)

His A.I. seems to have a few more chromosomes than everyone else. He likes to charge into the enemy and give retard hugs.

Miranda and Garrus loves eating dirt in my experience. So does Tali and Jack.

I do like him as a character, just to be clear. :)

I have a lot of love for Wrex, Grunt, Tali and now Mordin. I don't know Legion that well but they seem like decent enough entities.

At least with a Krogan you expect him to be up the pointy end getting shot at. That's what they do. Tali? what's not to love about a tech geek with a shotgun - the paragon defence of Tali at the inquest on the flotilla choked me up first time I heard it. Salarians make me laugh and Mordin is freaking hilarious.

The rest of the ME1 and ME2 squaddies I have little time for. They irritate me and are mere augmentations of my skill set, not individuals.

The biggest let down about Virmire mission in ME1 was that I couldn't let both Alenko and Williams burn. That would have been great.

Zaeed's accent is not cool. Garrus - Sam the freakin' Eagle trying to be hard. Jack - waste of grrrl space. Miranda - what a princess. Jacob - well he's Jacob. Samara - brainwashed automaton. Thane - you cop out 'it's not me, I'm just the weapon'. that's horsecrap.

I think on my next play through I will see how many of them I can get killed on the suicide run.

The only character in ME1 i never really warmed up to was Kaiden, although I grew to like his sentinel abilities eventually. In ME2, Thane doesn't appeal to me too much yet as a squadmate, but his backstory is sort of interesting.

I'm probably just not utilizing Garrus and Thane properly. I did use Thane once along with Samara in the final Reaper fetus fight in an insanity run, and he did well.

Eh? I find Garrus to be much more survivable and useful than he ever was in ME1. Or perhaps it's more that all the other squadmates are now just as squishy with removal/nerfing of Barrier and Immunity. Moreover Garrus seems more likely to do as he's told and stay in cover, whereas the likes of Zaeed, Miranda and Tali enjoy leaping over cover and running headlong into the crossfire.

I love Garrus as a character but he doenst last long in combat though. Thane is a great alternitave though if your looking for a sniper.

Maybe the key to squadmate survivability is keeping Shepherd on point as much as possible. Sometimes they will charge to a forward position ahead of me when I'm not expecting it; maybe that's the AI telling me I'm dawdling :)

keep Garrus using the mantis sn and he will pop out head shot someone than pop back into cover too quickley for incoming fire to do much damage. you'll find him to be far more durable with the right commands, time them right and he will be amoungst the most helpfull squadmates in the game.

Think that is good advice. I'm doing that with him on Zaeed's Loyalty mish atm ( NG+ Insanity, Infiltrator) and he's doing well.

Garrus died easily in ME1, but he wasn't particularly squishy in ME2 for me.

Use the squadmate weapon switch in the L-shift menu and force him to use the sniper rifle. Much, much better than having him use an assault rifle.

My Garrus seems to be suffering from an incredibly vexing AI bug. He'll lean out of cover and sit stock still. Apart from when I move out of his tether range or engage a cutscene, I can't snap him out of it. Let me clarify, he won't respond to move commands, attack commands, or switch weapon commands. However, he WILL use powers when instructed.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's put a downer on my first insanity play-through, since I can't get him through the last battle(s) on Horizon.

(On all my Vet and HC sheps he was fine.)

Out of curiosity, do you have him using his assault rifle or his sniper rifle when you use him.

Personally I always have him keep his sniper rifle out and he stayed back out of enemy fire.

It started right after I put an assault rifle on him as a counter to the attacking husks.

(Unless you meant generally to the other posters in which case it's always as sniper support. I rarely used him on my Infiltrator, the exception being on his and Legion's loyalty missions and Tali's recruitment mission.
