If you're a soldier, play to your strengths with the assault rifle while making sure to wear the best quality heavy armor.

Personally, I miss the Mako... compared to the planet scanning game. What if BioWare would have just FIXED the clunkiness of the Mako, rather than scrap it?
That would be much better, I hated scanning, its so tedious. I wish I could pay someone to do it for me
Another thing I'd like to see is to be able to upgrade the mako with a better cannon, better turret/gun, better armor, higher jumping with element zero upgrades, and more traction and horsepower to make it up them mountains.

One theory I have, for those frustrated with the mako: Do you by any chance use both control sticks to drive? Just drive with the left stick and forget about the camera. This is not Halo and the right stick does not control the pivot point when steering. ME was a PC game at heart and the keyboard/mouse combo controls it much better. Honestly, I got use to the mako by my second playthrough. Practice.

I don't have any problems with the dual stick settup, infact I can't remember how I play because I never pay attention, I play, and enjoy using the Mako.
Kind of like ACFA, I forget my health and get caught in the moment.

The Mako was terrible. I'm sorry, but for most missions I just pointed at my destination and held forward on the control stick. The thing moved like 5mph, it was excruciating, especially on later playthroughs. When you did have to turn, shoot, etc, it felt like swinging around a dead cat.

Well there should be vehicle exploration for ME3, but with the Hammerhead which looks to have improved handling.

I feel sorry for you if you didn't enjoy driving the majo, I'm used to playing a game where my speedometer can go from 500 Kmph to 2000+ KMph, while shooting people. Mako is a nice pace for a vehicle that's pretty much a Stryker.

Well, than I won't think of becioming a Stryker driver if I join the Marines. Bioware better put the Hammerhead as the primary exploration vehicle for ME3.

I don't care what they put it, as long as it's something useful, fun, and relevant. Also, something that takes time to do, hopefully the Hammerhead is not like the bad rumor about it.

What's the bad rumor about the Hammerhead? The fact that the misisons are short and linear?

That's the rumor, if it's short and pointless, it's going to get almost as repetitive as Planet Scanning.

Yeah, but that's a consequence of streamlining the gameplay, they said there would be richer RPG elements in ME3, so they might bring back ME1 style exploration with the Hammerhead.

Drive right past it? Or after you've taken everything else out, run into it so it falls, then shoot it. Once it gets up, run into it again, then shoot. Repeat as necessaryCanned Bullets wrote...

you know what was fun? Running over Colossi and having them havok fuse to the Mako. Sometimes the Colossus would flip it and return the favor.
absolutely, running them over is by far the easiest way to improve your chances of successfully killing. you can always rince and repeat and eventually they will die. But #1 PC > Xbox for controlling that irritating vehicle =P

@OP: If you want to enjoy ME1, stop comparing it to ME2. What you need to do is enjoy the game for its own merits, and realize it is a very different game.

Totally agree with this. Take your time and use pause a lot. Fighting Armatures and Collosusi(?) on foot isn;t as bad as it sounds. A levelled up sniper rifle with tungsten ammo really hurts them - throw in Sabotage and/or Overload and you will own them.
Edit: Avoid them big blue bolts, they hurt. Fortunately, they are quite slow, so stay in cover and pop out and shoot em just after they have fired one.

Alright I'm on the damned mission where you get Liara, and the fact that there's no frequent autosaves like ME2 is annoying, this is my 3rd ****ing time I had to restart it, 1st time because I got bum raped by those geth at the end and 2nd time for no ****ing reason because the Mako's cannon doesn't have blast radius like all the other "heavy" weapons in ME2, seriously I wish they just had the Hammerhead tank all along instead of this ****ty clunky Mako.
What part are you on exactly? The trick to the mako is to jump constantly. Jumping over rockets and blasts from the armatures and colossus's helps a lot. Also, don't close on the enemies, stay at range, your cannon has a scope and it effective at range. This lets you see the rockets/blasts long before they get to you. And every part I remember with a colossus also had cover. Park the mako behind the scaffolding stuff and the colossus can't hit you with it's blasts, just its machine gun. Once in cover kill all of the lower enemies first then shoot the colossus. Your cannon has a small footprint, it can fire through the scaffolding.
