I am nearly finished with DA (approx 3/4), and I was ready to purchase Awakenings; however, I have not read many positive things about it thus far, and am wondering....is it worth it? Can someone confirm:

- Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner DLC equipment is NOT brought into DAA
- Ohgren is back; but, no one else (if true, it would be a major annoyance. Ohgren? Seriously? Shale without question should have been brought back, as well as other NPCs depending who lived at the end. After all---expansion, not a new game.
- Storyline is not consistent with what transpired in DA
- May have bugs

If this is accurate, why purchase DAA for the price they are asking? Why not just wait for DA2?

I am really confused how EA/Bioware could release the expansion, when it does not appear to be an expansion at all.

Am I misreading something? Or am I missing something because I have not finished DA yet? (please no spoilers.)

Basically, if you really want more Dragon Age goodness, it's worth it.

Not for 40 dollars it's not. It's buggy, nearly no continuity for imported characters, a crappy conversation system and mediocre characters. Plus mission that don't make sense, like your running around doing a guard captains job for him while he chill s at the gate eating beef jerky.

If you can get it for 2oish I would say sure, why not, if you've got some cash to burn. Otherwise, no.

Basically it is more Dragon Age content. More story, characters and locations from the team that created the original game.

DA2 may not be released for another 1.5 - 2 years and will probably involve a new character and nation. Why wait that long for DA2 when there is fresh content available now?

You may enjoy some aspects of the Awakening story, characters or locations as much as Origins.

DAA isn't worth 40 dollars. 15 dollars yes. I wonder if they could do a major patch changes to it or have free DLC updates for DAA.

$15?

Once the retail store takes its cut and distribution costs are accounted for. That does not leave much money for Bioware.

Depends on how bored you are and how much disposable income you have. After buying the rubbish that was supreme commander 2, I think awakening was pure gold for the price. That being said, it wouldnt hurt the value of the expansion pack if they released some patches/dlc. *cough* Allowing new classes to be used in origins. Lift the silly level required for the new classes. Honestly, the new classes are not that overpowered. Keep in the skill requirements :P

it wasn't worth the $40 it seemed rushed and quirkie also someone dies right out of the gate she could have been a good character it'll either sit on the shelve or get turned in for credit

Don't listen to all these whiny punks. Awakening is the bomb. There is no use for imported dlc so theres no point in whining about it, new items are far superior and u wouldn't use ur precious dlc items for more than 10 mins so stop whining like little fairies. I played through the entire game twice and did not encounter ANY bugs at all. The game is a great add on to origins. as for it not being consistent with your decisions in origins....WTF are you people talking about. THE ONLY THING THAT ISNT COSISTENT is if you chose the ultimate sacrifice, you can chose to import your "dead" warden and play him in awakening. This was stated by developers awhile before release so i don't see why people are crying their asses off about this, totally rediculous. Why would u not want the option to play ur warden? srsly ppl grow up. The expansion is awesome and well worth the $40. Or u could go spend $60 on stupid games like dantes inferno, FULL priced games which you can beat in 8 hrs are abundant. so a game thats 40$ with 15-20 hrs of gameplay if you actually immerse yourself in it and not rush through, is well worth it. especially if the story is immersive like awakenings is. buy the game. it's great.

It depends on what you like and how you like it.

I found that Awakening isn't what you would expect; eg: like Nakedkana said, it feels as though you are just playing Neverwinter Nights with a DA element. Although it's good to play and to pass time, I wouldn't really stay up all night and all morning playing it like I did to Origin.

But nevertheless, I would recommend you buying it (maybe when the price goes down). Just dont expect a lot of "wow/OMG/this-is-much-better" sensation when you play it.

First, you should wait for a patch to correct bugs.

- Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner DLC equipment is NOT brought into
DAA

Yes unless you download a mod which import the items.

- Ohgren is back; but, no one else (if true, it would be a major annoyance. Ohgren? Seriously? Shale without question should have been brought back, as well as other NPCs depending who lived at the end. After all---expansion, not a new game.

Yes and he will be your only "warrior".

- Storyline is not consistent with what transpired in DA

Kind of because you won't really meet any old npcs, it's a total new cast and whenever you choosed to rebuild the warden or not you will still have the same introduction : you being escorted to your "new" HQ because there's a threat.

I really recommend reading reviews on your favorite game sites. After any release the official forums can get quite chaotic and it's hard to tell what the quality of the game is. Some of the best games ever (at least in my book) would look like garbage if you read certain threads around launch. That's why I recommend reviews. :)

Agreed, I remember when Throne of bhaal came out people where complaining it was so short. but its now called one of the best video game expansions ever.

My personal view on Awakening is if you love the lore and the story of Dragon age its a must have because it dose have a very good story and is a great expansion to the events of the first game.

15-20 hours, and it can absorb 3 playthroughs, in my opinion. In spite of any criticism, the expansion really is fun. Definitely worth it.
