I'm looking forward to playing but I thin I'll wait till they patch and the price comes down.I'll just do another playthrough of origins.

Having played through 2 "chapters" of Awakening so far I have yet to encounter any bugs other than the Wardens Keep DLC incompatabililty.

I'd definitely say Awakening is worth its release date price. Good story, stronghold mechanics, consequences to your choices (I put off a rather important issue and suddenly it was forced upon me, things turned ugly, for example) and interesting NPCs.

If I gave Dragon Age: Origins a 9/10, Awakening is an 8, maybe 8.5.

Almost as good as the original campaign, but not quite there.

In the end though, a very good buy

to me yes. Anytime you expect something to be super and get only great you'll be disappointed.I never project what a game will or will not have for me,hence I'm rarely disappointed

Agreed, I remember when Throne of bhaal came out people where complaining it was so short. but its now called one of the best video game expansions ever.

After they patched it up... Awakenings will be the same hopefully.

This is a wise plan.

I intended to hold off until they fixed the DLC import, but after hearing the various other bugs I think waiting till the first major patch is called for.  Maybe it'll be a Steam weekend deal by then too :)

Got my money's worth and then some. If you like Dragon Age and want to see more of the gameworld then go buy it.

If you just want to see more of the story played out, by all means buy it.

If you're looking for immersion, hold off for a major patch. The sheer magnitude of annoying bugs (upside down shields, buggy animations, quest npc issues and so on) would be very off-putting.

If you've played a large number of rpg's, odds are you'll know what you do and don't need to check (especially if your char is decked out from DAO + dlc's). As such, 1st time clear through can really take a nose dive, even when completing the bulk of the side quests (under 8hrs wouldnt be surprising). Obviously more playthroughs are possible with different characters / decsions, but those runs would be even shorter. I'd say a 4-5hr clear would easily be doable knowing the quests / skipping dialogue.

In the end, asking people on a forum if you should spend money is not worth your time, read some reviews and make your own decision :P

If you got some extra cash then go for it. The characters are good and the story is fairly decent. Its a good 15-20 hours of dragon age goodness. I suggest buying the xbox verson only because it has the least amount of bugs.

Completely and utterly WRONG.

From that statement alone I can tell you have not played this game at all.  probably played a few minutes into it then decided to come here and bash it.

You get: A sword/shield tank warrior.  Oghren, 2h warriior, and a dual wielding rogue with stats that might as well make her a warrior.

So I'm counting two, and maybe three if you wanna count the class confused rogue.

I really recommend reading reviews on your favorite game sites. After any release the official forums can get quite chaotic and it's hard to tell what the quality of the game is. Some of the best games ever (at least in my book) would look like garbage if you read certain threads around launch. That's why I recommend reviews. :)

Reviews aren't the most reliable either because these review sites do have to get paid and if they give a terrible review they don't get paid.

Fan reactions are a far better gauge than a review by some website.

I would say no. Robert De Niro puts in a solid performance, but Robin Williams is a dud and the overall story is a bit sappy and uninspired. A film with some real potential but ultimately falls flat. 2 stars out of 4.

I will definately buy it when the price comes into line with the xbox version. Expecting UK PS3 owners to pay £32 - which is £7 more than xbox users with the disk, manual and box is not acceptable.

No one can justify why PS3 users have to pay more than xbox users. Once EA/Bioware see sense then me and my friends will buy it. Simple.

Also, not all the reviews on the forums have been bad - you've just had the bad luck of missing the good ones apparently. You will find a well thought out review here:

My only problems with it were:
-Lack of charecter interaction.
-I would have liked to seen other charecters from DA:O than Ohgren
-Was a bit short for the price

Otherwise was awesome, cant wait for more Bioware, keep pumpin this video game gold out.

EDIT: But something I would like to see for the future, both for DA:O, DA:A and DA:J, would be actual endgame content and more random encounters.

Don't listen to all these whiny punks. Awakening is the bomb. There is no use for imported dlc so theres no point in whining about it, new items are far superior and u wouldn't use ur precious dlc items for more than 10 mins so stop whining like little fairies. I played through the entire game twice and did not encounter ANY bugs at all. The game is a great add on to origins. as for it not being consistent with your decisions in origins....WTF are you people talking about. THE ONLY THING THAT ISNT COSISTENT is if you chose the ultimate sacrifice, you can chose to import your "dead" warden and play him in awakening. This was stated by developers awhile before release so i don't see why people are crying their asses off about this, totally rediculous. Why would u not want the option to play ur warden? srsly ppl grow up. The expansion is awesome and well worth the $40. Or u could go spend $60 on stupid games like dantes inferno, FULL priced games which you can beat in 8 hrs are abundant. so a game thats 40$ with 15-20 hrs of gameplay if you actually immerse yourself in it and not rush through, is well worth it. especially if the story is immersive like awakenings is. buy the game. it's great.

So far, I'm liking the expansion. the new conversation system should not have entirely replaced the old, IMO, but other than that, it's fun enough. I'll add my voice to the "it's worth it for more DA, but not at $40" pile. glad I got it day-of for less than $20.

id love to buy it, not for 32 quid though as there are full games out that id like to buy that cost that much. Shame as were it not for demons souls dragon age origins would have been my choice for game of the year last year.

The game is as short as you make it. I would not suggest this as "Day 1" for anyone who didn't spend at least 70-80 hrs. with Origins. You won't get your 'Money's Worth' (absolutely a subjective pov btw) if you didn't really dig into the original.

Don't get it if you are going to complain about: No Romance, No Starfang (King Cailan's sword from RTO imports, looks a lot like your precious Starfang, and there is plenty, almost too much, new loot) Price Point (it will come down, I mean people, really) or lack of a Happy Ending (both in story execution and conclusion of your massage).

Do get it if: You want to see the framerate/ graphics improve (at least for me, grrrrr PS3 framerate, grrr ((is better now IMO)) Love to craft and tinker with your stats, enjoyed combat and exploring more than getting it on with (this is going to hurt a few lovebirds out there) a pixelated boyfriend/ girlfriend and most of all, get it if you want to play more Dragon Age.

As far as Bugs go, I encountered no more than with Origins. Patches would be nice, but if you were able to bear through Origins, I've found Awakenings (Down Loaded Ps3 version) to run smoother than my disc-based Origins experience.

Right.

So, OP, make sure to check out this video review from Gamespot. And keep in mind the part that they say it might not be the best bang for your buck.

Actually, quite a few people got 15 hours out of it, me I got just around 20 with my first playthrough. Mind you I did everything and read most of my journal entries, but that should be expected. If you're finishing the game in under 12 hours the first time you're either skipping dialog or not doing side quests ...

IF you don't do the sidquests and such and just burn through it, it's like less then five hours. The game has a lot of new enmies, landscapes, etc- but they didn't put them to USE. They should have added even a few more areas that re-used a lot of things, simply to fill it out more and give you more to do. By the time I got the new Wade's gear- game was over, and I had nothing else to do.

I don't understand why anyone would want to play the game and skip over half the material. If you use that formula then Origins was probably only 20 hours long. One cannot blame a game for the player's choice to avoid the optional material, however.
