I would disagree because this game is not Dragon Age. There is no depth to any of your companions or your relationships with them. This would maybe be acceptable as DLC but my no means is this an expansion much less a new game. <10 hours game time if you play on hard settings. The interactions with com[anions have no meaning or value. Your moral choices are also meaningless.

How is there no depth to your companions?  Because they don't needlessly indulge you in every single trial and tribulation they went through in the past?  Because they don't have romances with you, despite your relationship with them being mostly professional (which frankly would make this game require significantly more time to create, as romance accounts for a massive amount of Dragon Age's choice and consequence)?  Because you can't interrogate them about their childhood fears?

The characters are just as deep as the ones in Origins when it comes to personality; only in backstory are they less fleshed out, and this is more in keeping with the setting and tone of the game, as well as the way people, you know, actually behave.  Having companions react to the environment seems far more human to me than it does to have a conversation about your distant and painful history because the dude you're working for asked you to tell all.  Most people aren't exposition bombs and it makes more sense to learn about characters through their idle chatter, mannerisms and subtle hints.

I would rather play 20 questions with my people and try to get information from them rather than 4 reactions from touching a beer keg, 1 reaction from a picture, and a couple of different ones from statues.
Getting an emotional conversation from someone because you asked is no more unrealistic than getting some random emotional conversation because you walked passed a statue.

Running around camp to see who has something to talk about felt better then constantly switching the team around to revisit locales to maybe find a conversation starter.

Edit: it is a good feature and addition to how DAO does conversations it just isn't good enough to usurp it.

I just think you should still be able to talk to your party members at camp/keep as well. Apparently in the keep is a much worse time to talk then when you see a statue in the middle of a darkspawn battle.

$15?

Once the retail store takes its cut and distribution costs are accounted for. That does not leave much money for Bioware.

Ok, so why is it not cheaper online then?  They only have to share with Microsoft at that point. Just sayin.....Image IPB

hmm... I'll buy the game when patches come out and they fix the bugs.

I just can't stand wasting my time on crashes

I would say its worth it IF you enjoy the Dragon age setting and overall plot arc. But as I said in my little review, I would not pay more than £20 for it.

Its a nice little epilogue to my wardens story, if you play it as a completionist then its worth 20 hours of play time. Rush through it and you can be done in 7 or 8 hours.

It depends on what you're after. If you want more stabity-stab hack-and-slash with goal-oriented questing, you get plenty of it. If you want companions whose stories you care about...meh. If you want more role-playing and emotional immersion, it doesn't deliver, at all.

It's certainly worth it. It's great plot extension to DA:O.

People crying about inconsistencies with DA:O should reconsider. No one ever forces you to import your Warden if you choose the final sacrifice ending. But tell me, why am I sure if you couldn't do that you would whine about it just as well? :/

I have not yet played Awakenings.

However, when I do, I will not import a character. I for one love the fact that they named the game "Dragon Age". It leaves room for so many possibilities. Anything that takes place during this "Age" is part of the story. Origins is one part. Awakenings is another. There is no limit.

From the first time I heard the name and sketchy details about the game I was excited by this, as it makes it an open-ended world where things can happen, connected or independently from each other.

this game sucks in comparison to other RPG's not enough game play for the money, I also hated the ending how sucky was that.

I've only played just the begining and I like it so far. I love the continuing DA story line and for that alone it is worth it, and I'm sure playing out the remainder of the expansion will not be a let down for me.

Affirmative, however "if you want more besides a sequel?" it is worth it.  I definitely want more and of course they have a lot to improve on but their still better than "The Witcher"... Don't get me wrong, I like that game but Dragon Age has bodaciously more interactive roleplaying goodness, and compelling Storyline... I still haven't finished The Witcher because I got to the last boss and felt a complete lack of interest... I already knew what was going to happen and I didn't like it. but the game developers failed to give me a choice to make a different ending.

I Thought Dragon Age Is Amazing , But 3200 Microsoft points is alot to pay for an expansion, would you say it was better to wait for a price drop ?    Image IPB

If you have the money and loved DA:O then get it.

If you don't have the money then don't get it - pretty simple.

Advice : Don't go broke for a game :)

I think that game is fun, it is short. I don't like that there aren't any relationships, that was a major fun part for me in DA, I married Alistair and i was quite upset that I have so far only seen him once and I am already almost done!

Since there is no such thing as a demo to try out i would recommend a visit at your local "rent a video" - store and try it. Don't know if Awakeningas will be avaialable for rent, but i guess it is worth a try :)

if not... hm...

I really recommend reading reviews on your favorite game sites. After any release the official forums can get quite chaotic and it's hard to tell what the quality of the game is. Some of the best games ever (at least in my book) would look like garbage if you read certain threads around launch. That's why I recommend reviews. :)

LOL read reviews?! Its pretty common knowledge that most publishers hand over cash for their scores to be bumped up thesedays and even if 'reviewers' don't accept bribes they usually only play for a couple of hours. A prime example being Oblivion - most reviews went on and on about the shiny fluff but hardly ever touched on the idiotic AI and dumbed down conversations - it was only after players bought it and played for longer than these 'reviewers' did they see how laughable it really was.

No, forget hyped up reviews, the real truth IS usually always on the game forums.

Don't listen to all these whiny punks. Awakening is the bomb. There is no use for imported dlc so theres no point in whining about it, new items are far superior and u wouldn't use ur precious dlc items for more than 10 mins so stop whining like little fairies. I played through the entire game twice and did not encounter ANY bugs at all. The game is a great add on to origins. as for it not being consistent with your decisions in origins....WTF are you people talking about. THE ONLY THING THAT ISNT COSISTENT is if you chose the ultimate sacrifice, you can chose to import your "dead" warden and play him in awakening. This was stated by developers awhile before release so i don't see why people are crying their asses off about this, totally rediculous. Why would u not want the option to play ur warden? srsly ppl grow up. The expansion is awesome and well worth the $40. Or u could go spend $60 on stupid games like dantes inferno, FULL priced games which you can beat in 8 hrs are abundant. so a game thats 40$ with 15-20 hrs of gameplay if you actually immerse yourself in it and not rush through, is well worth it. especially if the story is immersive like awakenings is. buy the game. it's great.

So your approval rating with Ogrhen being reset is consistant? No mentinon of your life partner at all is consistant? No mention of your Mabari that is bound to you is consistant?

Maybe I'm wrong as I haven't  played the game yet, as I'm reading peoples thoughts and comments on the game before buying it, but so far these things just seem like a few of the things that aren't consistant.

It has its problems, but is still better than most games out there.

I would recommend just keep playing DA until you finish. Maybe when you have finished, the price will have dropped.

'Cause, like I said, it's a good game -- but I don't know if it's $40 good. I would say it's worth somewhere between $20 and $30.

Absolutely 100% worth it! My husband and I are both starting our second run-throughs. We each had different ending the first time also!
