The release is riddled with bugs and it doesn't have that Origins "feel" to it. But I did beat it and there's some charm in it. So it is worth playing especially when they fix all the bugs.
Is Awakenings worth it?

If I had to put a dollar figure on it, it'd be around 20-25 dollars.

In short, Dragon Age is a 9.5/10 while Awakening is an 8/10. Awakening is for the most part fun, too easy, has a less engaging story and is at times disappointing if you have a love for all things Dragon Age. But despite that, I still think it's worth buying and playing through.

I really recommend reading reviews on your favorite game sites. After any release the official forums can get quite chaotic and it's hard to tell what the quality of the game is. Some of the best games ever (at least in my book) would look like garbage if you read certain threads around launch. That's why I recommend reviews.
LOL read reviews?! Its pretty common knowledge that most publishers hand over cash for their scores to be bumped up thesedays and even if 'reviewers' don't accept bribes they usually only play for a couple of hours. A prime example being Oblivion - most reviews went on and on about the shiny fluff but hardly ever touched on the idiotic AI and dumbed down conversations - it was only after players bought it and played for longer than these 'reviewers' did they see how laughable it really was.
No, forget hyped up reviews, the real truth IS usually always on the game forums.
Tin Foil hat much? Oblivion reviews were all part of a giant conspiracy? ROFL. Here is a hint guy, EVERY GAME EVER MADE has bad AI. That's why developers are going with cheap MP shooters now instead, no need to waste money trying to code AI when you can just make maps and 4 hour long single player

Definitely worth it in my opinion. This game (including the expansion) is one of the best available at any price. I hope the developers make lots of money so they can finance even more in similar manner.SpringPower wrote...I am nearly finished with DA (approx 3/4), and I was ready to purchase Awakenings; however, I have not read many positive things about it thus far, and am wondering....is it worth it? Can someone confirm:

It's not worth the $40-50 price tag at all. It had a good concept with the story but it wasn't put together very well. The game is full of bugs and not being able to port over the Wardens Keep DLC items (which we paid for) made me fell even more ripped off. Granted there are better items in the xpac but still. You can't have converastions with your party like you can in orgins, or romace for that matter. The game is full of even more bugs than Orgins; if you have the Wadern's Keep DLC installed the skins of one armor set and Vigilance becomes look like Starfang and the Warden Commander's armor insted of their intended skin, my characters right arm got locked in place several times, during the last fights the game became extremely laggy to the point where I thought my xbox had frozen, etc. The game was also alot easyer, my main character never died once and some of the new skills feel abit overpowered. The ability to respec any of your characters and the new skills/specilazitions are the only things I enjoyed about this xpac. The game fells rushed in almost every way. I wouldn't recomend it at all right now, atleast untill the fix the bugs or drop the price to $10-15. Just stick with the awsome Orgins.
The bugs are there, the "easiness" is there (although same as Origins once you hit level 13) personally, I enjoyed this a lot more than Origins because it felt more tightly packed with battles.
In Origins I felt like there was just too many cutscenes and it took too long to get going. in Awakenings I liked having power right away and getting into battles and nonstop fighting for the most part.
Too easy, yes for sure, but 13-20 in DAO was just as easy...

But is it worth $40? Hell yeah. Considering the number of games with less substance/story/length/etc that are $20 more out there… $40 is a steal.
Of course, I’m sure there’ll be a Game of the Year edition that includes both released near X-mas. So, feel free to wait.

There isn't nearly as much soul in the game as the original, but it's a decent game.
I feel the biggest weakness of the game is the new companions, not nearly as interesting as the first game which helped the atmosphere a lot.

I got 22 hours out of it but it wasn't as satisfying as the main game as I don't think it was fleshed out enough.
It's also ridiculously easy
Is it fun?, yes. For the price?, debatable. I don't feel hard done by but certainly not totally satisfied either.

r.
So is DAO... which means it is on par in that department (too easy once you get past level 13 and out of cheap gear)

I think that if more or less the same product was released in Q4 2010 which would be a year from the release of the core game it would probably be well received. It is ok to rush products into the market if you have something different to offer but if you want to give more of the same then you had better wait for a while and at least increase the amount of content.
This EA policy to rush derivative products within a short period of time into the market and saturate it has worked against them so far by driving away customers and causing losses. I think that they would be foolish if they were not to revise it.

$40 was too high for an expansion and could be the right price for an EXCELLENT expansion (which means top-notch QA). This one was just good. That's why I still think it should be $30. The $40 should get you a collector's box set with knicknacks and promotional in-game items. The digital version should just be $30.
BTW, and I'm saying this with some slight seriousness, Bio/EA could make it up to game owners by making some of the first DlC for Awakenings FREE, just like Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armour were.

Imo the story and new companions is very much worth it. I think both are more focused and more interesting than in Origins.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the price because I bought it for the equivalent of about $20.00 in Europe. However, the problem with this expansion is that it offers more of the same while it was released too soon.
.
what......... US$ 20.00 in europe?? in my country..........its US$ 25.00........dvd retal, pc version.........
