I also like Anders (and his cat!) and Nathaniel, both of them are pretty nice guys.
On the other hand I cannot stand Oghren, he became super-annoying, I especially dislike his awful "jokes". Lame.

Personally on my first playthrough with my human noble, I think I liked Nathaniel the best. I came very close to executing him when he started spewing out his crap on how my family deserved to be killed and all of that.
But once he realized what his father was, he apologizes and they become friends. I thought it was cool, especially with him saving Fergus in the end, and then some of Amaranthine being given back to the Howe's.
I liked Anders, reminded me alot of Alistair, but I think Nathaniel still tops him.
Nathaniel, definitely. He turned out to be a good, honorable guy. I was very glad that things turned out well for him in the epilogue. I hope we see him again.
I liked Anders, but I can't say that he reminded me of Alistair except that he's prone to smartass answers when he doesn't want to talk about something. Their views on life and duty couldn't be more diametrically opposed.

IMO, Anders is what Alistair would be like if he hadn't been filtered through Eamon and the Chantry. He's not bad at all, he pretty much volunteers to help the PC clear out the Keep, and he has a very Alistair moment in the Wending Woods when you find out that the darkspawn tricked Velanna and the humans. Alistair isn't above some shady dealings for the greater good and Anders isn't all self-serving. Anders is also is almost Zev levels of comfortable in his skin, which is probably the biggest departure from Alistair. He still has that innate sense that he's not worthwhile, it just doesn't color everything he does.
He also, despite despising the way the templars have treated him, understands why the Chantry needs to be involved with the Circle. He just wants their stance to be something looser than "guilty until proven innocent". He doesn't want to be free for any nefarious reasons, he wants to be free so he can make his own choices (sound familiar?) and prove that a mage can handle their power without a templar watching their every move.
There are a couple of lines, in regards to his prospects if he hadn't escaped/become a Warden, that are eerily similar to things that Alistair says in Origins. At the very least, there are some interesting parallels between the two characters. I would have liked to have heard a few conversations between them.

I am the kind of person that would have no problem naming a cat Ser Pounce-a-lot, and I was so totally on Anders' side every time someone teased him about it.
Nathaniel, as others have said, would have been awesome in Origins. I really hope he comes back later and/or in DA2. He seems like he would be a really cool romantic option, especially for HNF...lots of potential there.
Oghren was hilarious in banter, but I wanted to ****-slap him every time he hit on Sigrun. That plus his reaction to Felsi when she finally came by did not sit right with my character at all--I wish the dialogue system were more fleshed out so I could give him a piece of my mind. In my opinion, anyone who romanced Morrigan (especially those who kept looking for her afterward) probably values fidelity pretty highly.
Sigrun was okay, but I got her last so I didn't get much time to talk to her or even to do her Joining. Another drawback of the dialogue system. Next time I'll probably get her sooner, on a non-Scout PC playthrough anyway.
Justice was cool, but I didn't mind him dying at the end. I think I mostly valued his sword-and-board-ness.
Velanna...meh. I wanted to go more into depth about why she wanted to go through the Joining, considering the Dalish elves' comparatively long lifespans. Was more or less forgettable.
Mhairi I would have loved to have had. I'd trade Oghren and Justice (and Velanna for good measure) for her in a heartbeat. Seemed like a really unique character, compared to everyone else we've had.

Anders comes in at a close second. And if I had to choose a third.. Hm. It'd probably be Sigrun, actually. Which surprised me a bit.

Sigrun was a pleasant surprise and Justice was interesting too.

I'm not saying that they don't have elements in common, but I still see them as being quite different in many ways. That's probably the subject of another thread, though, as it could thoroughly derail this one.

The best member to find was Oghren though. I laughed so hard when I found him in the keep fighting the darkspawn, he casually stops when he notices you and waves and has a big grin his face like the fun is just about to begin. The only thing that could have topped this off would have been him singing some drinking song as he is fighting.

As far as random interaction goes, just running around, I found Sigrin + Oghren + Valenna to be amusing. Oghren would constantly try to woo Sigrin or tell Valenna some outlandish tale about dwarves. Valenna would later on try to verify said tales with Sigrin.

Nathaniel - Not too friendly at first but he turned out to be an awesome character. I especially like the banter between him and Velanna. They would have made an odd but cute couple.
Justice - I don't know, I just really like him as a companion.
Oghren - I'm glad they kept him for Awakening. He cracks me up and I actually used him more now than I ever did in Origins. That is, until Justice came along.

And at first I thought Valenna was just too nasty, but as I found out more about her, I saw a lot of hope/potential there, especially after I gave her the empty journal.
Would have been nice if there were more game time to learn more about them.
So once I have assembled most of the team, I typically go out with Anders, Valenna, and Sigrun.
Anyone know what the deal is with Sir Pounce-a-lot being a selection on the "Advanced wheel? Different party members get him to meow, but is thta supposed to scare away enemies or something?
