I hope BioWare reads their own forums for input from the gamers who play their products.
While Mass Effect 2 is a vast improvement on the first game it still needs work, namely the planet scanner!
It's pure fluff and It's mind numbing in it's tediousness. Come on guys! Who thought up this little trip into OCD-dom? For this reason alone you won't be seeing my hard earned money spent on this game, at least not until I can find it for around $25.00. I make you guys at BioWare a bet. I'll bet If you guys create a Downloadable patch to fix the scanner so it's a one button deal to scan the whole planet at once, at least 75% of the gamers who own this game will purchase it as long as it's reasonable in price!
You had a great game going here until gamers experience the planet scanner. Please fix it and / or don't put it in your next Mass Effect game.

I won't hold my breath, remember the [Toggle Helmet]? "We have dismissed that claim"

Anyway, just buy it for the PC import a new character and add tons of resources by editing your save games.

Yeah every time I think about going back and finishing an ME2 character, I remember I have to go planet scanning because i'm out of resources . So basically I just play something else.

The planet scanner is stopping you from buying the game?

yeah it blows and is a pain (I rushed through a normal game just to get the auto resources next game), but you're missing out. don't let something as minor as the planet scanner stop ya. I finished the game with no upgrades/no ship upgrades and lost 6 of my team. Totally worth it lol

You didn't buy the game because 2 out of 35 hours are planet scanning?

So you won't be buying this game right now because of a little minigame that not only is completely optional, but after one playthrough shouldn't even be a problem considering you start with 50 or so thousand of each resource?

You'd be a fool to pass up this game for something so trivial. I used the scanning game on my first playthrough til I got up to about 60,000 in 3/4 of the resources (taking less than an hour). I've now played the game four times, and haven't touched the planet scanner since my first playthrough.

You could also just mod coalesced.ini to give you all the recources you need at the start of the game.

Wait, how do you know it sucks until you've experienced it?

Hell, if you're on the PC, you can edit your way around it.

He's a troll of the lowest calibre...

if it bothers you that much, just use gibbs editor to give yourself the resources, that way you never need to scan again. Also, all your points and issues, I could say the same thing about the Mako.....

An optional timesink is stopping you from buying a game?
