I think most of us would say that at first mineral scanning was an improvement over what was available in ME1. Yet that within the first few planets scanned we realised that it was tedious. Then we realised it was mandatory tediousness if we wanted upgrades. That is why most of us do not agree that scanning is 'strangely addictive' despite what the Project Director seems to think we have said. I would go further and say that PC users pretty well use the editor to change minerals on hand and 360 users would do so if they could. That fact alone should convey to Casey that mineral scanning is NOT what he imagines it to be.

Scanning is not even close to being an improvement over hitting one button to scan something in ME or driving around in the MAKO.

How?  Making us walk around on the planet with a tricorder trying to find the minerals?

Falling asleep during planet scanning? Yeah right...I'm too ****ing pissed off while planet scanning to even try and fall asleep.

Obviously the person who developed the planet scanning never thought that after the 1st playthrough (the only time it was tolerated) that it wouldn't get repetitive. New game+ could have fixed this but instead they gave us a fraction of what was needed for all the upgrades. Thanks ****s.

I don't mind it at all, much better than the Mako. However, I wouldn't say it is addictive... it is tolerable if only JUST barely...

I like planet scanning. I like being able to see the whole planet.

I'm not a complainer :)

It's at least worthwhile to get EDI's reaction when you scan Uranus;)

Really, planet scanning is as equally a love-hate thing for me as the Mako, just in different ways. The Mako was fun, but you just had to do it TOO much, and by the time you played 5 ME1 careers, you really wish there were a cruise control bonus power or SOMETHING! Planet scanning on the other hand - you certainly don't have to do it as much as the Mako, and it is way more brainless. You can just sit and watch videos on Hulu or something while you do it, but often times I would find myself mesmerized by watching planets spin around as I scanned them... as much as I might have grumbled about having to do it. Also, I kind of liked taking a break for some mindless planet scanning between the commotion and strategizing of missions.
