I wasn't comparing ME2 to ME1, i was comparing current ME2 to ME2 with nudity
There was nothing 'classy' about ME2's sex scenes. Some of them didn't show any scene, others were like frantic, hormone-raging teenagers. Not to mention the build up for most of them also revolved around 'Hey, let's ****!' 'Okay!' They were a huge step backwards from the ones in the first game.
It's obvious BioWare was impacted heavily by that Faux News report. First DA:O's comically hilarious 'undie-sex', and now this.
Stuff like this makes me hate this country:

I don't know where you got your rose tinted glasses, but I don't recall the "build up" of "I met Liara 1 mission ago and now she's suddenly talking about this connection she thinks we have and awkwardly explaining how her species has sex" being much better. Not insinuating the ME2 build up was fantastic either, but calling it a huge step backwards suggests to me you've not played ME1 in a while.
Did I say Liara? I didn't mention her specifically, no. However, Liara immediately says she wants to wait. She only comes in and pushes for the joining because she's unsure if one, or both of them might be dead(I just played through this romance Monday in ME1).
Think about this. Liara and Kaiden, both want to wait(I hate Ashley, so skipping that), but both take what might be their last chance to be with someone they're developing feelings for. Kaiden even confirms that he was in love when you encounter him on Horizon. There's also much more feeling between the pair, with that whole locker scene and coming to comfort Shepard after (s)he had the Normandy locked out.
Now let's look at the ME2 ones.
Garrus: Talks about physical stress relief and talk about making the sex work.
Tali: Madly in love with Shepard, but again, immediately turns into attempted to make the sex work.
Thane: An actual romance, though how any woman could take being constantly compared to his dead wife is beyond me.
Jack: Another sweet romance with a rather tasteful 'romance' scene at the end. Not even certain if they slept together or not there.
Miranda: Definitely all about sex. Hell, Shepard can even state it, and their... ahem... interactions... in the engineering room doesn't scream 'romantic' to me. More like ****ing than love-making.
Jacob: Haven't played it, and never will. He's not good enough for Miranda, then he's no where near good enough for Shepard. Calling her a priiiiiize doesn't help his case at all.
I see 2, maybe three real romances in there. Strangely, the two are both people that are dying...
