It would seem that installing the toolset causes script bugs in Dragon Age, making the single player campaign screw up.
I'd love to hear a fix for this that doesn't involve reinstalling Dragon Age and deleting all save games you made after installing the toolset. I have the Steam version, and am not looking forward to downloading the whole thing again just to fix this.

Furthermore, it would seem that just renaming the /Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Modules/Single Player folder doesn't fix anything. Scripts remain bugged. Can't progress in the game.

Right, once you make a save with bugged scripts loaded that save is permanently damaged.

Has this been addressed in a patch? I have been doing fine with the game unpatched, until installing the toolset. If this has NOT been addressed in a patch, do I have to reinstall or is there another, less painful was to fix this?

That might be what I've been suffering from, savegames that worked perfectly fine suddenly don't let me use the level up button anymore and all characters in my party just stand there not doing anything as if they had no script managing them. I first figured it was an addon I had installed but a re-install changed nothing to the situation and it is true that between using the saves I installed the toolset.

I found the answer to this on EA Support:

I followed the steps and the game worked again, I don't know if this would work on saves generated while your game was broken, however. I didn't save.
