How has stuff changed since KOTOR? What aspects will be familiar to me? What will be familiar? Just downloading the toolset; waiting for it to finish.
Coming from KOTOR modding, what can I expect?

Follow the wiki for help. I have never modded for KOTOR, just NWN and NWN2. The toolset in DA:O is quite complex and still intimidating. If you're an established modder it will probably be easier.
I'm still learning the tool and building a basic indoor and outdoor area.

You'll love it, alot of the restrictions in KOTOR are not present in DOA, having a proper tool set for one, is the major point. Much praise for the KOTOR modders, I don't know how you guys could put together new areas/planets using the same stock areas over and over and still stay sane.

I did a bit with KotOR, including making a model viewer for it.
From my point of view, modding for DA:O will be completely different from modding for KotOR - a lot less restrictive. The file formats are documented and the rules are easy to change. There will be a lot more content created, and not just simple variations of what you already have in the game.
