Cool, but the interviewer had really no idea what questions to ask. There's some interesting stuff behind the "force fields" and "telekinesis" that the interviewer brought up that Michio could have actually answered.

Sry I can't. Viacom is pretty good with finding vids on youtube that belong to them and pulling them. You could try downloading it yourself though. Try using Real player SP. You can download just about and video on the net with that. And its quick, clean, and simple.

Michio is kinda a dick in real life. He's really big into himself. Not to mention he's a bit fringe being a futurist/string theorist. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a much friendlier popular scientist and IMHO a better scientist in general.

I mean he could have asked about how the Mass Effect works and if it's actually possible for their to be a substance that can raise/lower the mass of an object or if so could it be used for FTL. Stuff like that, instead he bangs out the standard "can wormhole travel exist" which isn't really what the Mass Relays are irrc. I mean the actual explanation beyond biotics is much more interesting then just calling it telekenesis, it's not psychic at all.

This is why I enjoy science fiction. Great video, thanks for posting it.

One thing that I'm actually curious about is can we humans can actually withstand the Gs of FTL travel.

Assuming any kind of FTL is even possible, I guess it depends on how fast you plan to go that fast.

Not a fan of Neil DeGrasse Tyson myself.  He's a bit too drab and bitter for me.  To each their own,  I'm just glad there are discussions on here about such things.

Well I haven't meet him in person so I can't speak to that but I think him and Neil are both good popularizers of science.

To my knowledge no we cannot survive FTL in our current forms. There was a recent article saying that traveling at those speeds would kill us because of the things that could slam into the ship while its traveling.
Here it is. www.popsci.com/science/article/2010-02/stray-hydrogen-atoms-become-deadly-starships-traveling-light-speed

Neil is apparently very friendly, talks to everyone who wants to. He was a student of Carl Sagan who mentored him a bit in how to deal with people. Michio is standoffish, and although he is passionate about science he's even more passionate about his own career.

That is truel, although I think Michio is a bit too eager to delve into the possibilities
without making note that those things are very far away.

I agree with you on Michio, not as standoffish as you think but definitely pompous.  Maybe I think Neil is drab because of Sagan then,  my father was a student of Sagan's and often spoke of him as arrogant and boring, barring the fact that he was revolutionary for the field.  To each their own, the fact that we are discussing scientists is a breath of fresh air.  Good day.

Everything is possible when you have science! jk, actually they did a "Science behind" for the first Mass Effect. The idea of the Mass Relay is one of the theories of how to actually create a means of FTL travel. Most of the codex in both games is based on scientific theories
