Why the short sightedness?

So after finishing Awakening two times now to see the different end results (depending on who you kill etc) I'm puzzled by the complete ignorance and stupidity of everyone in the game.
Initially I killed both the "father and moother" with the idea of once and for all purging the now extremely weakened darkspawn, but oooh no everyone had other ideas of what they thought more important, like staying at the keep doing nothing, go out on little fun trips of their own and what not...

Seriously anyone with the smallest basic tactical thinking would see this as an great opportunity to rally a force in order to purge the world of the darkspawn taint.
And seeing just how Godlike the "hero" is that chance of success is more or less guaranteed^^

The only ones why actually did something of meaning was the dwarfs (who aren't exactly know for their brilliance) in retaking Kal'Hirol and once again opening the olds roads between the ancient city and Orzammar. A major step in the right direction.

/End rant/

So does anyone else feel the way I do or have an possible explanation for this completely illogical behaviour? :pinched:

I'd call it more short-sighted to think such a damaged group of forces would have a chance at going into the Deep Roads to kill the rest of the darkspawn, when no one has any idea how many are remaining.

In what way is that short-sighted?

As a grey warden your destined to go there alone on during your calling and die anyway, perhaps killing a few hundred darkspawn at best, what's the point of that?

Instead you could slaughter thousands of disorganized and fleeing darkspawn, possibly even succeeding in wiping them out. Or at least clear the wast majority of the deep roads, giving a few decades to build better new massive fortresses and fortifications to hold against them.

So, as the guy in charge of rebuilding the Grey Wardens of Ferelden and ruling Amaranthine during your tenure there, it's not short-sighted to, instead of doing just that - especially at a point where the arling is war-ravaged, and the city or the keep are destroyed or all but destroyed, and there's about seven Grey Wardens total - well, it's not short-sighted to decide, "Oh, hey, so instead of rebuilding here, we're just going to go chase the darkspawn back into the Deep Roads and do some damage. All seven of us. Yeah, totally."

No, that reeks of tactical brilliance, it does.

There is still a metric ****ton of Darkspawn. The Blight did not last that long ultimately and I doubt they took losses that would be seriously detrimental to their overall population size.

Besides the Deep Roads is their turf. Its extremely difficult terrain to navigate and trying to fight them would incur massive casualties.

Don't some of them stay on if you do their quests and they live?

What you speak of, rebuild and live in ignorance untill the next blight
is hardly an appropriate solution^^

Well in neither of my epilogues did the warden commander stay anyway, he left on his own accord more or less immediately after, rumored to rejoin and adventure some more with Leliana.

And I for one saw no point what so ever to save that "city", really how many buildings where there, 30 at most? And most of them in stone, quite easilly replaced and hardly a task you would use warriors for anyway.
And if you absolutely must have a grey warden present during the rebulding process, leave that logistics woman from Weisshaupt since she's definitely better sorted for that kind of work.

And you seem to think I only speak of the few wardens, what I'm saying is get togheter those armies that never helps you out and go for some real darkspawn cleansing.
I mean if the whole of Ferelden and Orlais united that would most guaranteed yield quite a significant force. We allready have the dwarfs cleansing the deep roads why not help them out?
