Help please! I accidentally deleted my game profile from the game. All
saves are thus gone also! Is there any way to recover profile?

You could try to use a file recovery utility outside of the game - I have used one called Recuva by Piniform to retrieve accidentally deleted files (it doesn't rely on the Recycle Bin, it looks into the actual disk sectors and recovers the data - as long as you haven't done much with the disk then it should recover everything fine. When a file is deleted it isn't truly gone right away - the 'pointer' on the physical disk still exists until another file/program overwrites it).

If you haven't added/removed programs or defragged since this happened then you should be able to run Recuva and get the data back - the more file writing that is done after the files are deleted, though, the more of a chance that some or all may be unrecoverable.

If you deleted it from within the game itself then that is more problematic, since you can't just pull it out of the Recycle Bin. As mentioned, you might be able to use a file recovery tool to get it back, if you act very quickly so that the data doesn't get overwritten by new data, but I wouldn't bet on it...

Thanks for the info. Doing a deep scan now with Recurva, Hope it works.

Finished the game, installed Awakenings. And used the switch character option and then deleted the characters! Talk about dumb...

I uninstalled Dragon age and accidentally deleted characters. Recuva not helping - can you get your character from your player profile online?

Your hard drive :P not your cpu(processor) was wiped. Fun fact for the day.

As for recvering your character, no it is not stored online or anywhere else, sorry. :(

Unless you backed it up on a disk/flash drive/online web storage. You can not restore it.

Thanks that Recuva file saved me. You just have to find the .das files and the other files together. Then add a folder called "Slot_5" or anyway you wish to have it but have Slot_(number). Then drag the following recovered files:

screen.dds

.das.met

.das

_____Story.xml

It worked.

Only drawback is that you only get your most recent save file. The rest are gone forever. I was lucky enough that my last save was the save I wanted it at.

I did that, but it does not find it. Is it possible the problem is related to windows 7 64bit?

I put it under dragon age main folder.

They need to go in C:\\My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Characters

Each character is in its own folder which has the same name as the character.

Hope this helps.
