I 'm new to Dragon Age and need help on something. All of my party members have run out of potions...
How do I get more potions for them... If I understand correctly I can not give them items from my inventory. Also, I don't think that switching to another character and walking up to a merchant works either... So how is it done?
I'd also like to have them using some of the nicer equipment that I've been running across, but again I don't know how to get it to them.
Any help is appreciated.
Gameplay help please

You can buy potions from any merchant (the closest one being Bodhan in your party camp).
You share your belongings with all of your party-members.
Simply click on one of them and access the inventory in order to equip them with new armor or accessories (not possible in the party camp, in this case you use the arrows on your character screen (the left part of the inventory) to navigate through all of your party-members).
Of course I'm neither sure if you play on a console, nor if you are far enough to access your party-camp since you forgot to add those details, so don't blame me if you get confused.

Okay, party members do not have individual inventories, except for what they are actually wearing/wielding. Instead potions, poisons, injury kits, etc are all draw from a common pool. So if you're out of potions (which happens more than I like) you need to buy or make more. Any mage characters will start with basic herbalism by default which allows you to make weak poultices from elfroot and a flask. Elfroot is commonly found, and most vendors sell flasks. You can also buy health poultices from vendors directly.
As far as getting your NPC to use potions. The hard way is to make them the active character, open up the inventory screen, right click on a potion, and select 'use'. The medium hard way is to drag a potion icom to the NPCs hotbar and just click on it there. (While they are the active character of course.) The easy way is to set up a line in their tactics like "Self: Health < 25% Drink Least Health Poultice". I highly recommend that last approach.
As far as equipping your squaddies it's the same general procedure. Select that character to make them the actively controlled squad member, open up the inventory screen and drag weapons armour and jewelery from the inventory tab to their paperdoll slots. Items are purchased into and sold from the group inventory tab, and not to or from individuals. Although while browsing a vendor you can click the little tab on the lower left side of the screen to choose whose gear to compare vendor items to.
How that helps. Enjoy the game.
