As it is, the Demon just did a really crappy job with the Warden and Morrigan.

Tell me about it. I mean, my Human Noble just had her whole family murdered and her lands stolen, and the best the demon can come up with is Duncan saying the darkspawn were defeated? That assumes that the most important thing in the PC's life is defeating the darkspawn, which isn't necessarily true at all.

I think it would have been nice if each Origin had a different Fade dream, but what can you do.

I'm a strong believer in crossing that bridge when I come to it.

Yeah, it's a little strange when the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade homage during Sacred Ashes probably tugged at my Male Cousland more than the Fade dream.

So... If the child had a soul before the Archdemon was killed, wouldn't that mean that the child's soul would now be in the fade? Capable of being contacted -- or, as Justice has proven, to come back if another body was available? And how would, being brought up in the fade with and educated by good and bad spirits, affect a person? Would he/she want revenge on the parent who had abandonned him/her and made this possible? Or would he/she only need to ask why, and perhaps get closure?
How interesting...

The reason why the ritual works, and doesn't kill the baby, is because at the time its little more than a fertilised egg with no soul.

The way I see it is even if the child does have a soul, basically, the child's soul absorbs/merges with the archdemon's soul or essence.  The child's soul isn't fully developed and thus is able to adapt to the merging while the soul of an adult is fully developed and unable to handle the absorbtion/merging and thus gets destroyed.

That is pretty much the exact explanation as I recall.

Morrigan is a troll, I'm just telling people about it.

So far, people have listed the following reasons for liking her:

1-Eccentric
2-Freedom loving
3-Isn't too bad once you get to know her

1: Agreed.
2: But she still supports slavery, so...
3: Everyone has friends, and most people don't mistreats their friends. You can't judge a person by how she treats her closest, but how she treats those not affiliated with her.

Well, troll or not, I'm bored, & I've grown fond of Morrigan...

She supports 'survival of the fittest,' until you remind her that *she* could be the victim, such as being turned into a golem. I took that to be 'raised by Flemeth didn't teach much empathy.' Following a -nice- warden around teaches her enough so that she admits as much at the end. Her cynicism is her armor, like Alistair's glibness & Leliana's 'cute-churchness,' Therefore, with whatever armor a character/real person has developed, there will be flaws & cruelty & mistakes that hurt themselves & others. I'm not sure why hers would be worse than anyone else's.

I'd never say she 'supports slavery.' She supports the strong - if the elves rebelled & killed their oppressors, she'd admire them. Granted, my boy noble broke up with her in fury over this same issue (which isn't easy - he had to marry Anora to do it. Why is there no 'end this' with her, btw?) But ultimately, to me, it's her heart beneath the cynicism that makes her interesting. She's not duty-bound blind, as Alistair can be, and that's a massive positive. Most importantly, she isn't cute & girlish, except for the horrifying voice-change when she does the 'cold in my tent' thing.

She is definitely a Highlight in the game. Very well written and awesome voice over.
The only problem I have is the fact that she simply runs away from my character. I hope BW will have a good explanation for her "outbreak". (Its like a slap in your ultra alpha-male face ^^)Im still thinking about how I will react when I see her again....

What would you do, when you see her in part 2 in the arms of another men?

I like Morrigan, probably more than every other possible love interest in any BioWare game so far. I did pretty much everything the same way she would have done, and when in doubt I'd let her be my voice of reason, yet I cannot live with myself accepting her offer. Aside from reasons I already stated in the highlight topic, it feels like such a sacrifice to allow the very being you were supposed to destroy a second chance.

And then it was made canon. Fiendish, BioWare, fiendish.

??  Did I miss something?

I do think it will be made canon, though.  I was arguing with the marital unit about this earlier.  I think Alistair being king, probably with no Theirin heir, will also be canon.  Just my gut.

I agree! Only fools destroy the Collector base! Oh wait...

Seriously though, I did it because I saw potential in the story. :D

I let her have her way because ... Did you see what she was wearing?!

Come on, I'm a man and we all know if a woman looking like her, dressed like her ... we're going to let her have her way.

Yeah, I know, I'm weak ... or just honest?

Well, yes... but that's kind of a moot point if (a) Your character is a woman, or (B) Morrigan's already your male Warden's lover.

Yeah if anything is to be made canon it'd probably be the Ritual.
I mean.. since that actually leads into future stories and all. You don't get a lot of mileage out of "The Warden nobly sacrificed themselves to defeat the Archdemon. The End."

I have yet to not let her get her way. I like the idea of the ultimate sacrifice I have heard about but I like Morrigan more. I think that is one of the most interesting story arcs in the game. If a cannon story is ever created the Dark Ritual completed should definately be in it. It simply makes for a more interesting story.

Because I think she's trying to save the soul of the Old God for the same reason she wants to save Sten when you first meet him: she sees it as an independent, powerful being that's being deprived of his freedom, and she's fascinated by him. Furthermore, Morrigan is fundamentally human. All human beings want to leave a mark on the world: can you honestly say that redeeming the soul of a god isn't a worthy goal? Just think of what the godchild could become: a leader, a new messiah, someone with such a powerful impact on Thedas that he could become as famous as Andraste was.
And if things go as she plans, she'll be the one that educates this superior being, and, through him, maybe, the whole humanity.
"Changing the world" seems like a good goal for a girl that's been forced to hide and survive basically since she was born.
If she were as selfish as you seem to think, she'd just stay with the warden and live a happy life.

But at that point she's given you a ring that indicates that she loves you, but won't have sex with you (and to quote the great philosopher Butters Stotch, "Isn't that called a wedding ring?"). So having not gotten any in a good long while point B is irrelveant at the time.

I have nothing to say about point A.

Hm... Had she looked and sounded more sensual, looking less like one of the skinny villain witches in Winx Club... (ugh..)

I mean... like the Concept Freaking Art, she might have fooled at least ONE of my male characters..!
:pinched:

She might even have traded the "noone has to die and I will have the soul of a god" with "someone has to die and I will take the soul of a god", had she looked like the concept art
