I'm playing dwarven noble, just finished the origin quest and found myself in Ostragar. The problem is, I can't add Alistair to my party. I find him quarreling with a mage, talk to him, he says 'Lead on', but he's simply not adding to the party: there's no portrait and he's not following me when I go to Duncan (the option 'Hold place' is off). He suddenly reappears when I initiate dialog with Duncan, but when I head to the Wilds, he stays by the bonfire and I can only go with the two other recruits. I can talk to him (he obviously thinks he's in the party), but that don't change anything.
I've tried the console and 'selectparty' screen, but there's only my character to choose from. I've tried loading the last save from Orzammar I had, and passing Deep Roads again, but when I came to Ostragar I still couldn't get Alistair to the party.
THEN I've switched to another character (a human mage), whose origin quest I've completed just a few days earlier, so I was conveniently at Ostragar. I went to Alistair, talked to him and -- yet again nothing happened.
Someone's stumbled upon this bug? I tried to search, but didn't find anything.
When I played the game for the first time few months ago (it was version 1.00) I didn't have any problems. Only recently I've patched the game to 1.03, don't know if this could be the cause. Don't really want to reinstall the whole game...

I was wondering if anyone else had decided to replay Origins after Awakenings. I haven't had your bug and aren't game stopping but I have had where the game skips on certain cut-scenes that never happened before. Might be my computer lol but the thing is it never happened until now. It could quite possibly be due to this patch, or Awakenings itself. I was thinking about somehow taking out Awakenings, going back to patch 1.02 but considering I'm not really having that big of problems I'll leave it as it is lol.

That sounds like the old bug back with the first version of the toolset.
Find your Bioware/Dragon Age/ folder on "My documents" (on Win7 is: C:\\Users\\yourname\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age ) and then delete the folders "packages" and "modules". Start your game, reload a previous save, and pray
That always fixed it for me in the past, hopefully it's the same thing for you.
