Opening your statements with an ad hominem argument makes you look like a tool. You'll get crap from even people who might agree with you. So don't do it.

Now this is a crass statment that crosses my line.  You cant argue someone is not being polite by not being polite, it really just undermines your argument.

I'm not offended by impoliteness nearly so much as illogical impoliteness. To be an ad hominem attack, one must not only be insulting, but also try to argue that a person's arguments are invalid because of a personal trait. The worfd fanboy is essentially an embodiment of this, because you are trying to paint people who disagree with you as stupid and foolish without bothering to counter their arguments. It is totally unproductive.

Insulting someone because they make actually stupid arguments bothers me less.

The best way to respond to rudeness is almost another question entirely. At the very least it is bad to be the one starting the mud-slinging and flaming, but in my experience universal politeness is not always the best option.

First of all, if you want people to politely reply to your topic try not to call everyone who disagrees with you 'fanboys' or describe them as 'Halo tards'.

Halo tards isn't my word, I saw somebody else use it here and it stuck.

Apollo Starflare wrote...

While we're throwing more dialogue in there, can I have a bunch of new missions too? Maybe the ratio between combat and dialogue could have been made more equal, but as it is there is still plenty of talking and it is lightyears away from resembling Halo, Gears of War, or any other 'sploshun' game you might mention.

No, it's not. The ratio favored combat/missions over character interaction and plot.

I don't get the big ME1 comparisons people use when bashing ME2. Maybe i'm just crazy, but I found there was at least as much dialogue with the crew as there was in ME1 and more likely a lot more; especially when you factor in the larger amount of people to actually talk to and get to know. Even Zaeed felt like he had as much to say as the old ME1 bunch for me, and I loved the ME1 bunch!

In ME1 you would generally get to chat to the team after every mission planet, the thing is in ME2 there often feels like there are a lot more 'mission planets'. Did Kaidan have new stories to tell after you came back from random mako mission #14? I don't remember it if he did. It feels like the ME2 crew have less to say, but it probably works out about the same, and personally I felt I got to know them a whole lot better than the previous crew. Even Joker had more dialogue.

I milked my squad of their dialogue about 50 percent in. And this:

When they announced that there was
30% more dialogue but a larger amount of squadmates, I knew there would
be trouble. So now we have a doubling in squadmates and a small
increase in dialogue in comparison to the amount of new squaddies.

AND we're getting yet another squadmate. I'm kind of scratching my head on this one. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie]

I agree with Tali and Garrus being at the same level as the rest too, otherwise we wouldn't get loyalty missions for them, meaning less content. It's not hard to rationalise if you think about it either, it's been 2 years and Shep is working for Cerberus, helping them out just re-energises the bond that built between you before.
Really not sure why you are complaining about Michael and Rebeckah either... Why have refund guy there? Why have a Blasto reference? It's just a little nod for fans to pick up on, we really don't need to have a chat with everyone from the previous game - especially two from a very forgetful side mission.

That doesn't mean a side mission of theirs needs to be excluded.

BioWare tried very hard to create "unique" characters that can be "understood" and generally grasped in their character very quickly and intensely . For this they dropped the general armor and gave everyone his/her own unique look that visually underlines the character.

This is something I was very happy with. Bioware makes great games, but I always feel like the characters' default outfits are always much cooler than the other armor you can equip, to the point where I sometimes refuse to equip them with new items. This goes for Kotor, ME, and Dragon Age (to a lesser degree).

Yeah.. in a way.

You see, in one way you are leading a military operation. ME1 gave you that feeling. You are a commander of a squad.
In ME2 you had more the feeling that you are the leader of a gang. This is fine, too, in a way. Just very different. But in the cases where the uniform is more form than function (silly breathers, Samara's cleavage, running around naked in case of Jack) than immersion can quickly vanish. I personally can live with both and i always thought that there's a compromise when people can look "private" on board the normandy and switch to combat gear on the mission, pretty much like shep does. Anyway, it's a pretty cosmetic matter...

May I be the first to say  "So what, you still used it!"? Or does anyone else want to the first to say that?

I'm a fanboy of games with deep story, realism and characters. The term isn't meant to be insulting,

I dont think fanboy is calling people stupid, its calling them emotional attached to a game to the point where they cant be objective.  But I can see that it could be seen as calling somone stupid hence justfying you first statement.

I would say that everyone behaving as adults would be the best option.  I know that is a little vague, but it covers an awful lot of territory.

Comon, that's just silly ;)

You can combine interesting RPG elements with good graphics and nicely flowing gameplay pace. And yeah, good dialogs are always good... the more the merrier...

If you're going to be a troll at least make a semi-intelligent argument.

And the fact that the character interaction took a step backwards in favor of 'SPLOSHUNS despite being marketed as "getting to know your team" isn't a good enough argument for you?

And anybody who knows me knows I'm no troll. Before the original boards were dropped I had 500 plus posts in the course of the one month I participated there. I've been consistent with my loathing of mindless 'SPLOSHUNS  and always made that crystal clear.

As for the sig, I've had it for 2 months.

And does preferring plot and characters/character interaction a million times over combat make any such person a troll?

I've never even played a dungeon crawler or anything similar.

As Nozy says, loot and skills is role playing in the most shallow way. An RPG lives and dies by the characters and plot.

Then by that the vast majority of RPGs fail

Also that means whether or not an RPG is a failure is extremely subjective

I completely disagree with that opinion

I dont understand why you either must love a game completely or if you find fault with you must return it.  I like ME2 I just want it to be better.  What is with this reductionism?
