Sorry for posting this but Im just playing ME1 and I just got to Vermire quest and heard the good captain speech.
It always sounded stiupid for me but after ME2 and what Mordin is saying about cpt. kirahe (or whatever the spelling is) I just can't stop smiling and will do what I can to save good cpt.  :)

Doesn't that Captain die no matter what you do?

Kinda like the nameless colonist on the stairs on Feros.

Nope, he lived for me. And had a nice bit of dialouge on the ship afterwads if you go to the crew section.

He only died in one of my playthroughs. In all following ones, he lived no matter what I did. Not sure what determine sif he dies. Might have something to do with the Geth defenses outside of the base.

Well that's bizarre. I did everything possible to help the Salarians and he always dies.

He lives unless you don't disable all Geth defenses.

I laughed pretty hard when Mordin mentioned that in STG they didn't have to buy their own weapons.

That one's right up there with "No carrier. No carrier. No carrier. No-" on the :( scale.

Kirrahe dies unless you disable all of the geth defenses. There's the geth flyers, the transmitter tower (?), the satellite-thingy...I'll have to look it up. Also when you disable the security you have an option to send the guards for Kirrahe to deal with, or draw them to your team. If you choose to lead them away from Kirrahe, then he will live if you've done all the other stuff.

Hell yeah, in ME2 that speech makes so much sense.

Shepard could even copy that for ME3.

OK, this may sound really arrogant, but I've never known Kirrahe COULD die.

No.

Kill the Drones, trash the fuel dump, and blow up the comm tower, and kill the Geth in the control room.

Kirahe and the Vendor STG are both saved.
