Piracy can save you from disappointment?

Now those "honest" souls who do not know how to crack a game will download it and not pay for it.
People talk about try before you buy. That is the shareware concept which only works if you have nice honest people who will pay. Not many games being offered that way anymore. I wonder why?
I also wonder when the number of illegal copies of a game outstrips the number of legal copies. What happen to all those honest souls who were trying before they buy?
If the game is so great why are so many people oirating it?
Maybe because they can get something for nothing?

The reviews are a joke, plain and simple. Their scores cannot be trusted, especially when it comes to AAA projects and their addons.

Well, you're kinda splitting hairs there, Ryzaki. You are enjoying full use of a product without the developer's seeing a cent.
Damn...I should stop buying used games...I didn't know that was piracy...well...I should tell those shops before the SWAT comes in.

However, when I'm reading a review before a purchase, I care nothing about the reviewer's personal tastes or preferences. Simply because I'm reading to decide whether to buy or not. The only other option is piracy (and I'm glad it exists). So, more or less objective scores do matter. And when I cannot trust the scores, reviews can only be read as, say, a (bad) piece of literature, and not something that can actually help me choose.
In short, if reviews are the sole method of choosing whether to buy a game or not, then the opinion of a reviewer is more like the judgment of a legal advisor than the verdict of an art critic. And if your legal advisor cannot be trusted or is on someone else's payroll, then the whole thing loses its meaning.

You are sharing something that doesn't belong to you. Developpers don't develop games out of thin air...they use time, resources..money.
They also don't usually give it away for free, unless there is a demo. If you visit Fileplanet, there are plenty of free games you can download...no problem ..try/buy ..other demos, betas you can get into ..to try it first.
No excuse. Whatsoever.

I think the optimum word here is that you are actually buying..if its not directly from the publisher. I realize companies like Sony are attempting to put something in place..to either charge an extra fee for previously owned games (not sure how they would do that) or put a stop to it somehow.
As long as you are paying for it..I don't think it still falls under the piracy label. I could be wrong I guess.

This is the only reason I have ever pirated a game briefly is because I had no idea if it would run well on my PC. The game ran and I enjoy the first few minutes, so I bought it. Why? Because the money you spend on game pays for more of them.
I haven't had to do anything like this in years, because things go simpler when there became two video card makers. Before that, it was a lot harder to figure out if you had the right card to play the game.

People can try to justify it anyway they want. They can try to use the legal definition and hide behind the terms like copyright infringment or whatever other name you wish to give it. You are stealing someone's intellectual property. And yes I am well versed in trademark, patents, and copyright law. The effect is still the same you stole it.
You did not pay for the right to use it. You do not have the right to copy it. You do not have the right to distribute it.
Piracy is simply a nice word for theft.
Also cost is no justification for theft.

Of course..NOBODY tries the demo part of Fileplanet...its called try/buy...try before you buy. Means you can demo it for free. No strings attached. Why is that not an option instead of pirating? Lord only knows.

That's called living above your standard and it's no excuse to pirate.
I pirate as a way to 'test drive'. I've bought Dragon Age after I downloaded the game. Just because it's such a great game. ****ty games get deleted after the test drive and will not be bought.

You complain about something you paid for while other's didn't, but when nobody can afford it it's okay to download?
Maybe for some 60$ is as unaffordable as 699$
can't buy it? don't play it, yes?
then all of you uninstall photoshop right now, and your cracked copy of windows 7 ultimate, and microsoft office, and...

Counterpoint: Why do you need a right to copy something?
I mean, let´s say you happen to find a link to download certain games for free. This link is there because someone was nice enough to put them in a freely-accessible site on the internet. So why the f*ck should you not use it? You always get the cheapest these days, because most people don´t have enough money NOT to take the cheapest offer for what they want. So if the cheapest offer is rapidshare or sth like that, why not take it?
