I don't know what it is yet...Even I struggle with this strange phenomena, not on the level as the more fanatic people. Sure I romanced her, but looking on the forums. Damn.

I'm close to discovering the truth...very close...

A mixture of mystery, skintight suits and the personality of that nerdy girl they have a crush on in Secondry school seemed to do it.

What methods do you use to receive data on this phenomenon?

I'd suggest depth interviews with a qualitative approach...

Personally, i like her because she's cute.

Very true. But this is a fricking phenomena...
Who knows, maybe it's like trying to figure out why people think sunsets are pretty.
Still, I might be close to SOMETHING...

I disagree, would take far too much time to analyse. I would recomend a pilot study with a qualitative approach, and use the major themes as a basic for gaining quantative data.

And thank you for helping me revise for my sociolofy exams.

EDIT: I think I'll just keep that typo in there...

Being the guy that rallied all the Tali fans together years ago, I guess I should answer this question-

We all have our own reasons.

Some are petty, like-

a. SHE'S SO HAWT!
b. DAT AZZ

Some are deep-

a. She's kindhearted and sweet
b. Stuck by us and never questioned our friendship

Other reasons are dependent on the player.

For yours truly, Tali was the character that captivated me the most.

Her voice, her personality, the fact that we barely scratched the surface of the quarian princess in ME1.

While others only look at her as a codex page for quarians, I saw someone I wanted to get to know.

Befriend. See what came of it.

In ME1, she was the forbidden fruit.

We wanted her, but she was unavailable.

Then we fought for her being a romance option, hoping Bioware would heed our calls.

Years ago, there was only like 20 of us that wanted her, led unofficially by me.

Now, Tali's fanbase EXPLODED and she's got thousands of supporters, thousands of pages, thousands of posts, pictures, videos, GIFS, etc.

She wasn't a likable character.

She was a LOVABLE character.

And then, in ME2, she admitted she felt the same way we did, but was afraid we couldn't see past her veiled visage.

Thats where most Tali fan haters come from.

They think people only want her because she's got a mask on and their curious.

But thats not it at all.

True Tali fans like myself don't care if she takes off her mask.

We're fine if she keeps it on the whole series.

We just wanted HER.

And now, we got her.

And we plan to hold on to her all the way through the end.

So expect to see Tali fans expressing their love for her all over the Tali love threads.

As for those of you who hate the group I helped create-

Don't be so quick to judge.

We're all fanboys and fangirls at heart for something or someone.

And for yours truly, its Ms. Tali Zorah Vas Normandy.

I liked her in ME1 because she came across as an adorable little sister type, but one you'd take seriously. I also liked her in ME2 as a LI, like this: Tali >= Miranda >> Jack. But like you I was totally unprepared for the near-religious adoration that many people seem to have experienced... it is a curious thing.

Was she a purple eastern european with a disorder giving her a weak immune system.

No personal offence of course, I just try to not miss oppertunities like these.

People like Tali because she's the easiest character to relate to. She's the one party member who seems pretty much like a normal person amongst a whole team of genetically engineered super soldiers or ancient monastic crime fighters or crazy tough mercenaries. Half the lines she says were exactly what I was thinking about the situation a split second before she says them.

That, and her loyalty mission's kind of a tear jerker. She gets falsely accused of treason and then her father dies doing something for her that she never even wanted because he didn't understand her, I mean, who DOESN'T want to give her a hug after how terrible her day has been? =(

The only hope now is to get the opinions of the "Tali-ban" as I shall refer to them as. Purely in a convenient form until I think of something better.
