But Jesus the only bad thing about playing as a female noble is:-
1) When shambling skeletons do that little freaky dance a female ends up weakened as BEEP
2) For some reason It was easy to knock me down, (What happened to my resistance?)
3) Not being able to do mori's dark deed myself, I have never actually gotten far enough to convice Alistar to sleep with her. Is it easy to persuade him?

I play both male and female characters. If I play a rogue in any game, I generally will make it female.
My first actual playthrough was with my female Dalish elf rogue.Mlai00 wrote...
The DAO PCs may be silent, but thank goodness they have battle voices. Once I heard those voices, I use my mind to fill in the gap of silence during dialogue options.
There was no real male voice I liked 100%; I couldn't find a male voice which sounded heroic and deep.
But the female 'snarky' voice fit my dwarven rogue really well; helped me round out her character in my head.
The last voice option for a female elf, "Violent" or whatever (haven't played in a few months), is great. It fits a sinister rogue very well.
yea but the human violent one made me want to strangle my Cousland girl. If she said she was gonna fetch a ladder ONE more time I would have tossed my computer out the window. She got deleted and never made it out of Ostagar.
That voice and phrase got so annoying so quickly. I think I blew that character away as well.

Also, just because I could, I played the char as bisexual, just to see what her options were. I romanced Leli. Had some one night stands with a few others. Too bad I did all this before the Lesbian Mod was finished.

One of the great strengths of Origins imo is the way you can explore the various characters and the scenarios in different ways and the replay options that gives the game.

But nowadays I seem to play strictly female characters. Generally not human either. All of my Dragon Age characters thus far have been female elves... and I can't bring myself to romance anyone other than Leliana no matter how many games I start! >.<

I just can't bring myself to play a male, and I'm terrible at making decent looking ones.

While playing a female char I always take the lesbian option, the other just feels weird

Playing as a female character makes me feel out of palce (I take my RP seriously), so I don't play as a female.
Got a friend who plays with female characters all the time. His excuse is that if he has to stare at a PlayerCharacter for hours he prefers to stare at the backside of a woman. Good for him I guess. I don't stare at my PC, I usally checking the surroundings.
For me, it is acutally EASIER to roleplay using female pcs (i'm a guy). If I play as a male character, I tend to put WAAYYY to much of my own personality into him. To me, that defeats the purpose of selecting a character, giving them goals, and then allowing them to let their personality shine through as the game progresses (not just in DAO, but all rpgs).
Eventually after a couple of playthroughs, then I tend to make a character like myself....Sadly, those pcs wind up being the cannon min/max, powergaming characters that make me move on to something esle
Eeeeerrrmm....so Yup, I play female characters.
Heh. Add me to that mix - on both quoted counts
Being a woman myself, I find that I by far prefer playing male characters (table top rpg included too sometimes).
Same problem, if I play fem characters, I find I infuse too much of my own personality into them, instead of treating them as separate individuals distinct from my own personality traits. I find I can get far more into character & role play said character better, when they're male. That, and I've always enjoyed male protagonists more so than female ones in books, stories etc.
What can I say, I just love guys & all their amusing quirks
Which also leads to the other point Khayness made: If I'm gonna continuously be staring at a character on my screen for hours at a time, I'd far rather stare at a pretty boy I made, than some chick

Yeah I play female elf characters. There are already plenty of male protagonists in media, so why not take advantage of the freedom of choice? The fact that Dragon Age actually let's you roleplay a lesbian is something almost unprecedented in these kinds of games, and there is that sweet yuri going on with Leliana.
Another good point is that female Wardens are certifiably badass, especially in origins like the City Elf, which is always good to have.
