My first play through, happened to my mage. I tried the work around you mentioned and figured I'd be smart (since I am not happy about going through the place again), swapping what my companions had with some other stuff I had so they could be re-equiped quickly.

But I've started out with my whole inventory wiped clean (still have my gold.... But none of my non-plot items). Going to see if sacrificing an item on my PC might work.

Edit: Oh, so the inventory is supposed to be wiped? Fine, let's see how this goes...

Its a lose - lose situation for me I tried all these and I cant find a way around
- if you wear your best armour it will be irretrievable except the belt and the rings will remain
- I did your work around put on crappy gear with the belt and valuable rings in the process I lose all my stuff including the belt and rings, if I remove the belt and rings I lose all my stuff in the inventory
There is one work around to this and thats either there is more than one storage chest or it can hold more and its a problem when theres not enough room.

BrnBeDestine, you are supposed to lose everything. If, after the cutscene, you have nothing in your inventory, and are wearing 'clothes', then it has worked as it should. It's only if, after the cutscene, the player character is naked (i.e. not in 'clothes'), has kept all jewellry that they were wearing, and you have all of your inventory (except what you were wearing) available that it has gone wrong.

I had this problem first time through, so loaded a save before entering the mines and took off my armour (as the OP suggested) and that worked fine.

Anyone know if Bioware has acknowledged this bug as a priority issue? I have a feeling that if you didn't save BEFORE you entered the mine, we are going to lose the equipment. How else will they be able to track it back if your quicksave and autosaves are all bugged?

That would explain alot because on my first playthrough I was naked but now I did a different method if your not equip or replace your dlc belt or rings like the Andruil's Blessing, The Spellward or Lifegiver all your stuff in your inventory will be gone so that is part of the bug then.

So you have to wear those dlc items so that your stuff in your inventory wont be erased. If your wearing your cell clothes will you be getting back your dlc belts and rings if not the creators wanted everyone to lose all their dlc items to mess everyone up.

Actually Andruil's Blessing, the Spellward, and Lifegiver are all non- DLC items. They are all purchasable from regular vendors in the original. Key to the City is received from a non-DLC quest as well. So technically, the game makers don't have any excuses on bugs related to these items. Sorry Bioware, I still love you.

And yes your inventory is SUPPOSED to disappear, that is NOT A BUG and you get everything in it back in a chest at the very end of the dungeon, right next to the vendor. So no worries, you will get the gear you stripped off, just like 5 mins later than usual. =) So Brnbedestine, take off all your gear, you will get it back when you play through, no worries. I have never heard of people not being able to get their inventory back so far.

You know what, If Bioware allowed 4 quicksaves like they do auto saves, almost all of us would have nothing to worry about. I am just as upset at losing 4 or 5 excellent items as I am that they were shortsighted enough to only code one lousy quick save slot.

I feel a little cheated by this bug however...

This whole issue along with other bugs is just BS. I liked Bioware/Black Isle a lot more when they made the BG series 15 years ago than I do now.

This just happened to my arcane warrior. Lost everything on my main character. I do have 1 save from before the mines, but it means replaying almost 3 hours worth of the game. I am more than a little pissed off! Bugs are to be expected but this....this is just a colossal fail.

Thanks for this bug work around. Stripped all my items into my inventory before I entered the mines and found all my items in a chest across from Armaas.

Tbh though, I don't normally walk into caves completley naked, but this game sure expands your horizons.

Yeah, I had to re-do about 2.5 hours. Still, it wasn't that bad- I'm just glad my Sentinel armor wasn't gone for good T.T

I hate to point this out, but this bug seems so common and so disasterous that maybe forum moderators ought to either make their own post about it or sticky this one so that people who are new to the forum can find it quickly. =P That is, of course, if they're not going to patch it in the next week.

I probably shouldn't mention this... but remember the exp bug with Duncan? There is a similar one when you clear out the cellar's of darkspawn initially, you talk to sargeant Maverlies to take you back up and get exp, but can run back down and talk to her and repeat infinitely.

<Sigh> I am *another* person to have fallen to this bug and I am seriously unimpressed. Small bugs happen and I have learned to accept and live with them. But this is pretty major and game breaking. I do major regular saves after each major bit of content and quick save during them. That means my last save is back before i even entered the wending woods. Joy. No way am I doing all that again because of this. I'd rather spend the time figuring out how to hack my items back in with the editor. >:(

I read on Dragon Age Wiki that this bug is due to the requirement stats not met by the Experimental Subject who is supposed to be wearing your main gear. That's why the bug only happens with Warriors and Arcane Warriors mostly, they have the stuff with the highest STR requirements usually. What a dumb thing... A lot of great games are somewhat lowered with that kind of bugs... Gothic 3 is probably the worst

Bioware has acknowledged the problem and said they were working on it. There is a comment by a Bioware member in one of the other threads regarding this bug.

But yeah ... this bug really kills the mood ... I ended up leaving all my good stuff at the VK before entering the mines because of it, which makes more difficult to deal with the boss fight at the end of the mission.

Oh, another bigger bug. After the second incident at Vigil's Keep, you can no longer turn in your last piece of lyrium sand to the Dworkin the Mad guy. You can't even talk to him, but he has a big fat arrow on top of his head for the rest of the game.

Also, if you agree to help the smugglers and then you change your mind and help the guards, you forever get a quest arrow distracting you above the inn, all the way until the game's end. Also at any point after the smugglers are gone you can ask to have the path opened at the inn and still get in trouble for helping the smugglers.

I had the dwarf bug..didn't happen next run-through however, not sure what caused it.

I've seen a similar bug like that with the Talking Oak tree in the Brecilian forest.  You have to be very careful about what you say to the Mad Hermit..if you don't want to kill that tree, otherwise you end up with the quest arrow over the tree's head even though you can't start the quest to kill it.

Well its nice to know after 40 hours of gameplay, just because i dont have saves before silverite mines, now my main rogue has NO FREAKING GEAR.  This is ridiculous and honestly just goes to show that these companies like bioware dont do any beta testing, they are just looking to cram expansion packs down users throats for a little coin.  The least they could do is acknowledge it and find a cure.....

I would share this with those of you desperate and give you my reasons why first. When a game fails me such as a bug that leaves me stripped naked or a battle that I just can't figure out how to get through and I'm sick and tired of trying I cope by using an appropriate trainer. In the case of losing your armor you can continue to fight and survive until you find new armor--it's a better option then giving up. Unfortunately the 'magic' of using a trainer (cheat) only applies to PC games and that is why given the platfomr choice I remain found of the PC. It looks like in the case of Awakening that I will be leaving Auto Save turned off but manually saving very often and using Quick Save even oftener.

It was a game stopper for me this bug, unfortunately. I do want to play the game but my main character is stripped with no hard saves, and all autosaves are in a bugged Silverite Mine.
I've tried starting a new character in awakening but I miss the connection to Origins that my main had. Starting all over is my only option.
Bioware really ought to respond to this bug - they, as developers, must know that stripping a main character with over 60 hours played is a very sensitive matter. Gamebreaking in my situation with no hardsaves.
