Had this bug on my rogue. Very, very annoying. Few things bug me as much as having to go back and replay a big chunk of dungeon. But I'm grateful that my danger sense kicked in and told me to make a separate save file just before I went in.

Still, come on, Bioware. You guys are better than this.

I'll add my voice to this ever-growing chorus. Ended up losing: Helm of Honnleath, Ring of Ages, Starfang longsword, Clamshell Plate Armor.

Character is a Warrior shield and dagger spec

Seems random to me, tried removing all equipment from all characters before the cut scene, only off main character, tried even loading up the same saved game a few times.

The loading the same save and trying it a few times showed that sometimes it bugged and sometimes it did not..

But if during the first mine cut scene your main character is NOT in clothes then its bugged and you will never find your equiped items..

But I would always advise people to save and svae often and not over the top of thier last save...

How about someone putting together a no-spoiler "Guide to Avoiding Awakening Bugs" (GAAB)? Or title it "An Awakening Pathway to Avoiding Grief"? Seriously...

I experienced the lost gear bug as well, and I finally nailed it down to the Bulwark of the True King promotional item from Alienware. If I had it equipped on my tank warrior, it bugged and I lost my gear, if I unequipped it, then all was good. I hadn't saved when I entered the mines, my save was all the way back at the beginning of the wending woods. I was..... quite steamed. Any event which takes away gear should be thoroughly tested

Just to make this a little more complicated, I had dumped all of my equipment into the party chest, just to be safe (female elf rogue) and when i returned from the mines, I found one of my rings, the ring of subtlety (from awakenings) gone completely. I had stashed my stuff in the junk section, for easy finding. Also, the chest downgraded an executioner's helm from tier 9 to 8 (now Sigrun doesn't color match! Nug-spit!).

Anyone else having problems with missing inventory or the party chest at Vigil's Keep? I haven't overloaded it; it's under that 150 items per page magic number that was screwing up so many people in Origins.

No, but I didn't know the party chest in the Keep either upgraded OR downgraded the tier of items.

I haven't seen that yet, but ... haven't kept many things in there other than runes & crafting materials, so .... dunno.

Looks like once again upgrading ... or downgrading ... materials seems to be an "unannounced" feature ... or bug ... depending on how you look at it.

So it seems to me this bug only happens if you are an arcane warrior. If you are wearing equipment that normally takes strength but you are using magic as a substitue the game freaks out because the 4th mob is a mage and cannot wear strenght items. It is not specific gear rather any item with high strenght you would not normally be able to wear as a mage. I confirmed this by changing my gear to cloth and my sword and sheild to a staff. When it was all magic equipment the problem didnt occur

Not True! I  didn't have any problems with my arcane mage. I had equiped the Spellweaver and and the full Effort Set. All the DLC items were in the inventory (duncan's sword and dagger). The armor from RtO was lost during my import (had it equiped on Alister). I reached the mines after recruiting Valena. never tryied it before. this is my 1st run. Didn't saw any major bugs so far. Only a minor one on Oghren. At some point using a 2 hander skill he remained blocked executing that skill. I dont recall the name, but it was about hitting the enemies around in an arc.

In my game Justice was wearing a full set of the (very cool-looking) Sentinel black/red glowy armor from the Blackmarsh when I decided to use a tome of respec on him to make him a 2-handed warrior.

He lost all of the armor (i.e., respeccing not only stripped him but eliminated the armor altogether from my inventory as well). Very annoying.

I had this bug last night on my second character. I tried unequipping each item one at a time and it didn't make any difference, either I was naked, or the backpack was empty. It may be tied to items that are on the companions as well, just affecting the PC. Eventually I went back to an earlier save at the keep and put on out-of-date armour and weapons that were Awakening specific and used those. Typically, I got them back.

Long story short, I couldn't identify any specific item or group of items from any specific game or DLC.

I must admit, I was so frustrated with this bug I stopped playing DA for about a week.  I have read the posts and played through the mines about 6 times.

The first timeI had written over my auto saves and had to go back about 3 hours game time and kill the dragon in the blackmarsh again...

Always save the game frequently.... I learnt my lesson.

This is what caused the bug:  Justice was equiped with Duncan's sword.

Keep reloading before the mines and if main wakes up naked then reload and try a different combination of items.  Keep trying until your main has the peasant clothes like the others in your party.  Don't fret if the experimental subject does't give all your stuff back, it should be in the chest by the merchant.

I was so relieved to finally get through this area and keep all my cool gear that I have worked so hard to get.

Good luck to everyone!  Hope this post helps.

As weird as it may seem, but if your char has custom hair styles or some other things that arent origianlly on the game might get that bug going too.

My first playthrough with char using only hairstyle and color that are available without mods mines worked fine, but on my 2nd char who had hair color from More_hairstyles mod the bug happend. Removing the mod removed the bug too, but ofc it gave me pure white haircolor. Oddly enough I could fix the bug without removing the mod also by moving chargenmorph file to override folder from hairstyles subfolder where it currently was.

So if you get this bug and are using mods. Even those that only add cosmetic things to game you might want to try removing them and then try again. If you've tried all the item compinations that is and nothing helps.

My solution is to put "ALL" main character equip in the chest before going into the mine.
Make sure you have at least doable weapon/armor to kill the mine boss in the end, that's it.

Afterward, you can get back to vigil keep, and all your equipment will be there surely in the chest.

I don't think it's mods, based on what people have posted, the problem seems to be having some items on your char (as opposed to in your backpack) causes it to trigger.

AFAICT - no Awakenings items cause the bug to trigger. Also, it does NOT seem to be based (necessarily and only) on having DlC items from Origins.

However, there seem to be some non-DlC Origins items that trigger it -- for some odd reason the ring "Key to the City" seems to be one of them, and there are others. Why this is, I have no idea.

Again, from what I can see, it will never trigger if you take any of the "illicit" items and put them in your backpack before entering the mine; basically strip your char and stride in to face the sleep gas in your skivvies. You won't get them back on the "4th experimental" but they will be in the chest in the end tunnel.

That's right, just take off all your pc's equiped armour, jewellery and weapons before you enter the mine. That should fix it, you will find your pc's items in a chest.

As it was in my case the bug happening was purely on mods. None of the items mentioned on this thread that have been causing the bug on ppl did it on my char. It was purely on where my chargenmorphcfg file from more hair styles were.
Go figure why it was like that. Just saying that if you've tried all the item compos removing mods is worth a try.

Playing another char atm with custom hair so when she gets there I can try see if that gets the same result. Unless I wait for the patch since I'm being hit with the +100 aproval bug with justice all the time and can't get around that.

So many bugs... I guess I should count myself lucky that I only saw the 'standard' bug where my main character loses all his equipped items and nothing more. Thanks to reading about it in advance I knew I had the bug when I saw that
a) The Warden was naked but his companions weren't.
B) I still had all my inventory except for the equipped stuff.

NOTE: It would be safest to equip only low/middle-tier(without any special name/set) armour and weapons on your Warden. Also avoid wearing any jewellry. I reloaded and shuffled my character's equipment around a bit and found that the bug still happened if I equipped slightly inferior items like Dumat's claw and Stormchaser mail.

First time I went in, after the cutscene,  I still had Key to the City and Ring of Ages and there were a number of items in my inventory, including all the jewellery/belts etc I was lugging around "just in case".. My character was naked. Since I was expecting to be stripped completely I googled it and was directed to this thread.

Reload. This time I remove everything except Frenzy (axe) and my superior Wade's armour. Stuff removed: Andruil's Blessing (sp?), Ring of Ages, Key to the City, Helm of Honnleath.

I find and kill all 4 experimental subjects. My associates' got all their stuff back. I ONLY got back what i was wearing ie no rings, belt, amulet, helm.... Sux.

Someone mentioned a findable chest. I'll look for it. At the moment I've lost ALL the jewellery and belts my character had, including those in inventory.

I always do this from now on. You can talk to Velena about going onto the mines and after you clear the DS out front run back to the keep. I always have a cheap set of garbage to change into and then i go back to the woods and start the silverite mine portion of the area. I have not noticed my companions loosing stuff, but I usually have them in most of the newer items or game stock items anyway, my main is the one with either modded stuff or the uber loot from O like the spellward etc. Sucks but at least there is a work around to safe guard your fancy stuff.

I had a really bad version of the bug last night! It was hilarious.... my character was in his skivvies in the prison cell (instead of clothes), but for some bizarre reason, was still wearing his gloves and boots ... I was like WTF??? Now that effect I've never seen before, but it made me laugh. Running around in underwear, but with plate boots & gloves on.

I reloaded from my save right before the mine (which I always do now), and tried my usual tactic of taking off everything. Once again worked like a charm; got it all back in the chest.

Oh, another bigger bug. After the second incident at Vigil's Keep, you can no longer turn in your last piece of lyrium sand to the Dworkin the Mad guy. You can't even talk to him, but he has a big fat arrow on top of his head for the rest of the game.

I had the same problem. The only fix I found was to complete a quest outside the Keep, and then go back. Simply traveling forward and back may also fix this. Entering and exiting the keep however, does not
