I'm making my import ready Shepard and I'd like to know how high my renegade score has to be in order to intimidate Elias Kelham with the "I'm a Spectre Dialogue Choice"? This will be a largely Paragon playthrough, like my last one, with one and a half bars full of renegade I couldn't get access to the option(and yes, I did get reinstated first).

Pretty high. I think you have to take every Renegade option available to get a high enough level to intimidate the guy properly.

Being reinstated doesn't matter, and you need to be almost at 100% renegade to be able to pick it. (I never was able to, anyway... And I did try)

I recall seeing a dev post on the matter. Can't recall which thread, but they said that there's a counter in the engine which tallies up all the renegade options you've been given and compares it to the amount that you actually chose. If you chose every one, excellent. But if you chose a paragon or neutral option or two, forget it.

So you don't necessarily NEED 100% Renegade. You just needed to take every Renegade path you could possibly take up to that point.

...So you actually need to be a "pure" Renegade?

I was able to choose it, and I had a good deal more Paragon than Renegade. Of course, I also had a bunch of import morality points on both sides of the scale, and I possibly maybe was mucking around with the save editor, I don't remember.

Hmmm, I wonder how to get this option with the least number of renegade options taken...

If you want to pick it that bad, safest bet is to go all renegade.

Well up to that point, I think. There might be a minimum number of renegade points that you need, anyways. I don't really know :bandit:

I was able to do it with virtually NO renegade... so... Paragon was full, Thane said, "we're running out of time" so I hit the next ren interrupt.

"balls to a krogan"

spilled his guts.

Went back in to see what exactly it would take in dialog and it was like 10 -12 go rounds, or if you could actually fail.

"I'm a spectre" seems to comes out at the end of either string.

But with enough shiny Renegade points, you're able to walk in, tell him you're a Spectre, and get the information immediately.  Thane even comments on how it must have been the fastest interrogation ever.

Ah. Well I certainly didn't have enough for that. Paragon worked quickly, or balls to a krogan, either way I wasn't trying to min max it, so the ren interrupt stayed.

When I did it I was one bar Paragon and half full Renegade. Worked fine for me, so I can't really say.

Minor spoiler...

I lol'd when Thane congradulated me on having the shortest interrogation he had ever seen (or was it in history?)

Hahahaha, it was in history, which is awesome. But now I'm sad, why be a Spectre if it doesn't get you anything!?

It gets you some things.  Like, you can get one discount at the Citadel without having to be a total corporate ****.  Oh, and you can get those Asari taken off the no-fly list permenantly and legitimately, no fake IDs or case reviews necessary.

Pretty sure that's it, though.

Yeah, I was using a little hyperbole, it has it's perks, but it never makes me feel like the bad ass I am.

You realize there's a non-morality Spectre option if you talk to the Council before going and wait until the lawyer enters the room?

Yes.
