never doubt the darkspawn could find another old god or find and thing to lead them such as the architectGill Kaiser wrote...
Having another Blight occur in the same Age as the previous one is really unlikely. I doubt we'll be seeing another Archdemon in DA2.milanm wrote...
So no one here reads their Codex? Really?
There are seven arch-demons mentioned in histories. Four have awakened before the current one. So, that's five in total. Two to go. I predict two more full DA games.
I expect the plot of DA2 to focus on the Fade and demons.

The Fade and spirits are much more interesting to me. I say let the darkspawn be relegated to the status of regular mooks for the sequel.

Well in the Awakening box there is a flier that has the Dragon Age logo and the date February 1, 2011 on is I bet thats when DA2 or another expansion comes out.
I am glad I wasn't the only one that got this. I just got my package in the mail today for it (some reason gamestop sent me 2 copies =P) and saw the flier and got excited...seems like a rather big hint to me since there is the iconic dragon made out of blood on it. I am really curious to see what comes of it.

It looks like there might be a DA2 next year, teaser in the Awakening box. So I was thinking of trading in the 2 discs for something new, perhaps Heavy Rain.
Anyone know? Will there be any more Downloadable Content before the next game?
Problem is, I don't want to get rid of it if there is any more future DLC.

I completely forgot about the slip of paper! I was just so excited to play the game that I didn't even pay attention to it.
One other thing I was really hoping for was if you have a romantic connection with one of the characters in the first one, they would bring that into the expansion somehow.
Still, I'm far from disappointed!

As for being stuck fighting darkspawn.. the game is named dragon age, not The Blight, I would be suprised if they got stuck in the whole darkspawn plot.. Personally Id like to see a big expansion (same system) about the size of origins where the plot is wars between 2+ "countries/faction/xxxx" Let the whole dark spawn invasion rest for some time, add some fillers that dont include a blight.. afterall silly archdemons need to be dug up.

If they were, say goodbye to the Origins and being able to choose your race.
I see the god child as the main villain, or a party member.

I just really don't see how they could possibly make a full sequel in one year, especially as they're planning to graphically tweak the engine first.
Consider they are using the same engine, graphical or gameplay tweaks notwithstanding, they're already familiar with the engine for the Dragon Age IP. This is a big time-saver.
Also consider a team was probably already working on DA2 before DA Origins was released. This team probably grew after Origins completion (which was finished mostly before March of 2009...it was delayed until November for minor things if I recall correctly), increasing the workforce on DA2 exponentially.
So, when taking this into account, DA 2 coming out in Feb of 2011 isn't really a "rushed" job as people are complaining. Its just that the behind the scenes scheduling and avenues of prouction aren't readily apparent to the fans.
But I don't doubt DA 2 will be an improvement of Origins in graphics and--most importantly--gameplay mechanics and aspects. And a 2 year window (considering Origins was probably MOSTLY complete in early 2009 and work on DA 2 begun very soon after) for another full DA game doesn't seem rushed in my opinion, considering the extenuating circumstances.

Nonsense. Was Baldur's Gate II set in Baldur's Gate?Gill Kaiser wrote...
The writers are hampered slightly in this regard. The only real caveat for the plot of Dragon Age sequels is that they must occur during the Dragon Age, leaving only 70 or so years in which the plot may be set.
Future games in the Dragon Age franchise need not be set in the Dragon Age. (Nor is there anything precluding an age being declared the "Second Dragon Age" if you want to play the pedant.)
There's no rule that says future games in the franchise need to deal with Blights, or have a Grey Warden protagonist, or be set in Ferelden.
Bioware is at liberty to exercise creativity. It's their world to bring to us, after all, and I think they enjoy the setting they're creating.
