The developers got rid of anything that even resembled gameplay and instead chose to focus on the story and they couldnt even get that right. The story is rubbish and full of plot holes, quite frankly from a game that was supposed to have the story as its highlight it failed big time.
Yes the graphics may be nice but considering there is no gameplay to bog them down they could have been a lot better, the fact that God of War 3 has so much action on screen and it still manages to top Heavy Rains graphics just goes to show how much fail the game really is.

Heavy Rain was outstanding, it had its flaws, but it was incredibly unique and fresh. Has anyone played through The Taxidermist yet? I've been playing FFXIII and the new Borderlands DLC so I haven't gotten around to it.
Your efforts to get this thread back on track are commendable but unfortunately this thread is doomed to failure.
Here is a list of reasons why Heavy Rain sucks

I think the first Heavy Rain thread did quite fine, despite your attempts to troll it to death (not all of which I disliked, I'm no troll hater). It has been awhile though, so I would be surprised if this thread gained as much momentum.
While I won't be going through and critiquing all of the plot holes in your link, there were definitely some to be found. Heavy Rain was imperfect in just about every way, but where it excelled it really did impress and in a way that no other game has. More than anything it's a prototype for great games to come if developers start to see that this sort of game resonates with gamers, which I think is its most significant accomplishment.

Oh god I seriously hope not, seriously if the future of gaming involves dumbing down games to the point where they are nothing but interactive cutscenes with horrible plots then it is a very dark future indeed.

Well, you already know my thoughts on the game, so no need to retread over that territory, however, I think we both know that the vast majority of games will never be like Heavy Rain, but I think with its strong sales numbers we might just end up seeing the interactive film game style being released a couple of times a year instead of never. I don't think even fans of Heavy Rain like myself want to play games of this style constantly, but the occasional game that truly engages the player on an emotional level would be a nice occasional treat.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. While I applaud story driven games, I have a hard time supporting a game that is one giant QTE. My mind might change once I play it, what's good about it may outway what's bad, but until then I'm on the fence here.
I would have enjoyed some additional gameplay mechanics to mix things up, but the QTE system is an effective one for this type of game. It gets you involved in what your character is doing to the greatest extent I can see being possible using the current generation of controllers.

Well I am leaving it open, I did like Indigo Prophecy despite the QTE and the story falling apart at the end. I just wish there was a different type of gameplay they could use.
With the success of Heavy Rain, I'm sure Quantic Dream will go on to improve and innovate the genre. I can't really think of a better system than one focused on QTEs, but they could add specific sequences that change things up and I'm sure they will be looking into improving navigation and clarifying the action cues (which could get confusing at times).
